BBC news output is a total disgrace

For a long time they were accused of having a left-wing bias and there was definitely some truth in that, despite their constant banging-on about their impartiality.

Now they have swung the other way and are clearly biased against Labour. I remember being amazed at a 'profile' of Corbyn soon after his election as Labour leader - it was such an obvious hatchet job I couldn't believe it had been cleared for broadcast.

They have hammered the Labour antisemitism issue endlessly but let Tory islamophobia and antisemitism go by. They have at least twice been caught out editing footage of Johnson to show him in a more positive light.

Yesterday we saw an extremely combative interview of Corbyn by the ridiculously puffed-up Andrew Neil. Apparently Labour were assured by the BBC beforehand that Johnson had also committed to an interview with Neil. Now we hear that they have not got any such commitment and the lying scumbag will almost certainly refuse to turn up.

Their journalistic standards have been fatally corrupted by their desire to suck up to whoever will be in government and make sure the money keeps rolling in for the fat salaries of the top dogs.

I watched that. I mean does that guy ever let anyone finish a sentence? (Never watched him before). He went on like a reet knob.

ohgetyou · 27/11/2019 22:06

I am no Tory supporter but they do the same with Boris. Your own bias informs your opinion.

KatyaK · 27/11/2019 22:08

YANBU I've been thinking this so much this week. It's the same on BBC radio 1.

QueenBlueberries · 27/11/2019 22:09

we can't have that opinion now as Johnson won't be interviewed... Hmm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/11/2019 22:10

YANBU

They really don't. Where's the holding to account over racism in the Tory party? Over the suppression of the Russia document? Over the Arcuri allegations?

We have to rely on other news outlets - such as The Times (The Times!) and ITV - for that.

YANBU it's embarrassing I've had to stop watching bbc breakfast in the mornings and delete the bbc news app.

Chocolatelover45 · 27/11/2019 22:14

Agree. Depressing.

missyB1 · 27/11/2019 22:16

I just got the rage watching Laura Kuensburg she doesn’t even bother to hide her bias now.
It’s like watching Government controlled TV.

Bluntness100 · 27/11/2019 22:19

I'm guessing you're a labour supporter not happy how the campaign is going?

PositiveVibez · 27/11/2019 22:22

So agree with this. I cannot bear the woman.

BastardBBC · 27/11/2019 22:22

No, I'm a Labour supporter who expects the BBC to show equality in their treatment of election candidates.

Bollocks. I assume you didn’t see Question time then?
Also, Andrew Neil is an amazing journalist. He lets anyone answer the question. Corbyn REPEATEDLY avoided the question. Andrew does not let you get away with that. The reason Corbym was annihilated was because he is a shit politician.

BastardBBC · 27/11/2019 22:28

Bollocks. I assume you didn’t see Question time then?

I did see Question time and the Neil interview. For the edited edition of Question Time they edited out the part where the audience laughed when Johnson was asked a question about the importance of honesty.

I haven't accused Neil of bias, I'm saying that if the Labour leader put himself up to be done over by Neil then so should Johnson. The BBC apparently misled Labour by allowing them to believe that that would happen.

The BBC is not fit for purpose. I'm no particular fan of Corbyn but the way he is always treated by the BBC really is disgraceful. That twit Neil made himself look awful last night; ill-mannered and poor at his job. The editing of footage to make Boris look less of a turd shoukd not be ignored. If they expect to make everyone pay for a licence they need to be impartial. Otherwise, let them make their money from Tory fat cats and we can opt out. Is the BBC even relevant any more?

BoudicasBoudoir · 27/11/2019 22:29

Laura K comes from a long-standing Labour-supporting family. I think it shows exactly her lack of bias that you think she is a Tory.

DialANumber · 27/11/2019 22:30

I have noticed how they lead with a damning headline 'Labour leading forced to admit working class will pay more tax..' before mumbling later on that these same people will be better off because of other budget plans.

They shouted and shouted about antisemitism in the Labour Party as the leading headline yesterday and took a very long time to mention at all the counter accusations from the Muslim Council. It was so obviously biased it was risible yesterday.

I'm heartily against the tories but also not voting Labour this time. I was cringing yesterday at the blatant bias.

BastardBBC · 27/11/2019 22:31

Neil isn't amazing at all - he's just the same as other ego-maniacs like Paxman and Humphreys, constantly hectoring and interrupting their prey

Was he having a bad night? I supposed everyone has an off day.

Howlovely · 27/11/2019 22:32

@Amanduh, Neil pretty much every time spoke over Corbyn when he was speaking! Although yes, Corbyn did play a silly game of dodge the question.
Maybe you should read Owen Jones' article in the Guardian about Andrew Neil and his not-so-perfect track record. Let's just say the words pot, kettle and black spring to mind when he was goading Corbyn about his reaction to a Holocaust denier.

BastardBBC · 27/11/2019 22:34

I felt really bad for the Muslim Council yesterday, trying to get their voices heard.

Yip. The piece they had on the 10pm news tonight about rhe ayr and carrick etc constituency was a disgrace.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 27/11/2019 22:38

I agree, but why did Jeremy refuse to apologise? Why?
