BBC news output is a total disgrace

For a long time they were accused of having a left-wing bias and there was definitely some truth in that, despite their constant banging-on about their impartiality.

Now they have swung the other way and are clearly biased against Labour. I remember being amazed at a 'profile' of Corbyn soon after his election as Labour leader - it was such an obvious hatchet job I couldn't believe it had been cleared for broadcast.

They have hammered the Labour antisemitism issue endlessly but let Tory islamophobia and antisemitism go by. They have at least twice been caught out editing footage of Johnson to show him in a more positive light.

Yesterday we saw an extremely combative interview of Corbyn by the ridiculously puffed-up Andrew Neil. Apparently Labour were assured by the BBC beforehand that Johnson had also committed to an interview with Neil. Now we hear that they have not got any such commitment and the lying scumbag will almost certainly refuse to turn up.

Their journalistic standards have been fatally corrupted by their desire to suck up to whoever will be in government and make sure the money keeps rolling in for the fat salaries of the top dogs.

What about this radio thing that's doing the rounds where he didn't know it was also filmed and showed himself up. Is that even real or old or something?

noblegiraffe · 30/11/2019 18:54

That’s real, gamerchick

Apparently Johnson making a throat-cutting gesture and the interviewer going to a different topic were totally unconnected and there was a completely innocent explanation.

gamerchick · 30/11/2019 19:22

Yeah I wondered if it was of those cut it till it looks 'right' things. Thankyou.

Mamasaurus82 · 30/11/2019 19:26

YANBU.

I agree and hate watching the news partly for this reason. It is so biased. Not just in the cases of BJ and JC either.

Longtalljosie · 01/12/2019 08:31

@noblegiraffe the interviewer made that signal to his producer to shut up in his ear (I’ve been a producer and while it’s not universal it’s incredibly normal and were I in the studio I would have immediately understood it). And Boris Johnson sort of copied it. Which is extremely weird but not sinister I don’t think.

Longtalljosie · 01/12/2019 08:33

Radio presenters often have their interviewees in one ear and the production staff in the other. Which is also why often you see set piece interviews on TV where the presenter has headphones on with only one ear on his/her ear, the other twisted into his/her head - it’s so they can concentrate.

myduckiscooked · 01/12/2019 08:44

Corbyn has been a complete disaster in opposition. Any half decent opposition would have folded the Tories in half these last few years but Corbyn doesn’t look like he can will an election while Boris Nero fiddles watching Rome burn. The only good thing about this election is hopefully the death knell of Corbyn’s political career.

Oh and Corbyn is anti Israeli policy not anti semitic - that is the same for some people, not for me.

greenlavender · 01/12/2019 08:48

Corbyn is a dreadful leader but nevertheless the BBC is not holding Johnson & his government to account. It's shameful how biased they are.

Juliette20 · 01/12/2019 08:49

I think it's not a bias any way or the other, it's laziness and cowardice, and reading out press releases from the government without questioning them.

The BBC ran scared after the Blair dodgy dossier, and have also been threatened by Conservative governments since.

They just toe the line too much. It's part and parcel of only selecting top staff from certain well-connected people of a single social class.

noblegiraffe · 01/12/2019 08:50

Yes, I know why the interviewer did it. But, as you agree, Johnson also did it which was weird. And the interviewer then went onto a different topic.

Can’t do that to Andrew Neil.

greenlavender · 01/12/2019 08:51

@Walkingdeadfangirl - how is that evidence?!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 01/12/2019 10:03

Well Boris is getting a hard time
