To get SO SO SO angry about P&T spaces....

I know, I know it has been done to death but honestly, some peopl are just fucking pig-ignorant.

Pulled up at Asda at the same time as a roughish middle aged couple, two P&T spaces available, I pulled into one, they pulled into another. Another car drove past with a young couple in and a tiny baby, looking for a space but obv couldn't park there as we had just taken last spaces.

Middle aged couple got out, stared at me as though to say 'so?' so I said 'I take it you have invisible children then??'

He said 'yeah actually' and sauntered off.

TWAT.

Where I am there are no P&T places, and people tend to have many more kids than the UK average and yet everyone copes just fine

bigmouthstrikesagain · 19/08/2007 18:46

Wilkie - i understand you getting pissed off - however you have chosen to post in the aibu topic so you have posed the question - therefore it is pointless to get worked up about those who say yabu... If you do not want opinions do not ask for them

Wilkie · 19/08/2007 18:47

Bigmouth - meant to post in chat TBH, I didn't want a debate just a rant!

...As I said, PMT!

i think i actually said feck off to the couple in my best exorcist/how dare you voice!!

3andnomore · 19/08/2007 18:50

it really used to wind me up....when my younger ones were little, as it wsa so much easeir for me, when I got a p&T space, nearer the entrance door...
must say....now, I don't get to excited about it anymore....
yes those that park in them when they shouldn't (and I do not talk about those that may still need them, but those that jsut use them out of pure lazyness) are being incosiderate swines....but nohting will change those people anyway, so, indeed a waste of energy...
but also sometimes it can be less obvious of course if the person parking there might still really needs a space, even if without Kids...so, can be a difficult one to judge and one must be careful in not getting to carried away...

newgirl · 19/08/2007 18:51

internet shopping is the way forward!

octoandflash · 19/08/2007 18:53

OP

I get annoyed aswell - out-stared a woman once til she moved her car

You can rant and be reasonable or unreasonable tbh, it doesn't matter - you've got it off your chest and it makes you feel better that some people agree and who gives a hoot if some don't - thats the joy of mn!

octoandflash · 19/08/2007 18:53

I agree with newgirl btw - internet shopping is the future.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 19/08/2007 18:54

i really really dont care. soon we can chuck the badge away and park ANYWHERE in the car park WHOOOP!!!

WanderingTrolley · 19/08/2007 18:54

I am loving your 'YIPPEE' posts all over mn

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 19/08/2007 18:56

its because we know have our lives back

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 19/08/2007 18:57

know/now you know what i mean

i hadnt realised quite how much it had restricted us. its like a whole new world out there and i am loving it! imagine what its gonna be like when he gets out of hospital, i'll be going wild!

mad4simon · 19/08/2007 18:58

It may seem a pretty trivial thing parking in the P & T space (if you haven't got little kids) but its just bang out of order. I can understand anyone getting annoyed. I wouldn't dream of parking in one of those spaces if i didn't have my DS with me. There should definately be fines handed out - that would make them think twice.

DemobCod · 19/08/2007 18:58

i dont giev a shit either

gess · 19/08/2007 18:59

You could slash the tyres of the people parked there, or you could key their car, or even block in an elderly man whose wife is dying in hospital. All stories previously recounted on mumsnet in the name of protecting P + T spots. Alternatively you could park somewhere else. I drive a 7 seater btw and have no problem getting children out of the car.

octoandflash · 19/08/2007 19:01

Neither do I - I have sliding doors - all cars should have sliding doors.

mad4simon · 19/08/2007 19:01

its the principle of it.

TinyGang · 19/08/2007 19:04

Agree with 3andnomore. It used to bother me much much more when mine were babies.

I was totally boxed in once and had to leave all mine in the pushchair and one holding on, with strict instructions not to move an inch, whilst I limbo'd into the car and moved it out.

I think it is vv inconsiderate - but some people just are and always will be. Some are spoiling for a fight too so be careful who you have it out with. Tempting though it may be, some people are unhinged enough to become aggressive if you challenge them.

I always found the p&t spaces were really more about space that the fact that they were close to the shop. If you park on the edge of the car park further away from the entrance there are usually more spaces anyway. It just means you have further to walk.

DemobCod · 19/08/2007 19:05

yes if htey had HUGE p and t spaces miles awaay

what then

niceglasses · 19/08/2007 19:05

Sorry, don't get it. Way down on my list.

If there isn't one, park somewhere else.

Its a bit of a no-brainer for me.

Lots more to get worked up about.

TinyGang · 19/08/2007 19:08

It's just about space surely. Only disabled shoppers need to be close to the entrance.

LazyLineLegilimens · 19/08/2007 19:16

How on earth would two able bodies adults manage to get a tiny baby out of a car?!!? They must need a wider space to do so....HAHAAHAHAA rubbish!

MerlinsBeard · 19/08/2007 19:21

DP and I had a sit in the otehr day. Put the boys in teh car adn just sat there. we could see a car behind us indicating to go into our space and knew it had no children in as i looked in it when i was taking the troley back.

Passenger knocks on DPs window(drivers side) and asked what we were waiting for. DP said someone with a child

octoandflash · 19/08/2007 19:22
