To get SO SO SO angry about P&T spaces....

I know, I know it has been done to death but honestly, some peopl are just fucking pig-ignorant.

Pulled up at Asda at the same time as a roughish middle aged couple, two P&T spaces available, I pulled into one, they pulled into another. Another car drove past with a young couple in and a tiny baby, looking for a space but obv couldn't park there as we had just taken last spaces.

Middle aged couple got out, stared at me as though to say 'so?' so I said 'I take it you have invisible children then??'

He said 'yeah actually' and sauntered off.

TWAT.

all car park spaces shuld be bigger then no problems then.

our local shopping mall has combined parent/child and disabled spaces. i actaully moved my car as when just getting out i noticed thios other car had been circling about so i beckoned them to stop to see if they were ok and they were disabled in the wheelchair sense of the world but no parking spaces left due to all 12 combined spaces being occupied by parent and children! i obviosuly moved my car quick sharp and found a space still inside (it was raining) that was actually closer to the lift than the disabled spaces.

pmsl

soooo agree with doodledootoo!

sparklygothkat · 19/08/2007 20:22

I parked in the P&T spaces in tescos the other day, with no kids!! But it was 10pm on the way home from the hospital, and am 6 months pregnant, so I did it hahaha!! Shot me now!!!

IcingOnTheCake · 19/08/2007 20:26

P&T spaces were put in place to help parents who have very young children and to make their life just a tiny bit easier. Sadly like anything, people take the piss so instead of making life easier, they just cause resentment and arguments. It's a shame but it's true.

gess · 19/08/2007 20:27

Is life with young children really that difficult? I'm amazed anyone bothers.

I recommend internet shopping if physically being there is traumatic.

Difers · 19/08/2007 20:27

Oh YANBU! This happens all the time and is really annoying!

southeastastra · 19/08/2007 20:29

i do think tesco's (mine in particular) car parks are just an accident waiting to happen

VeronicaMars · 19/08/2007 20:30

I saw a women park in the one right at the door of Tescos. I was coming out with dd and heading back to my skinny normal space because there had been no p&b spaces left. She got out of her car with no kids. But then I looked and saw she obviously had a condition - she was a fat, lazy cow.

gess · 19/08/2007 20:30

especially the P&T bits- they're full of loons fighting over 1 space. Far safer to park at the back and fetch a trolley.

Difers · 19/08/2007 20:31

It's not just about space either, I have had a back and neck injury which means I find it difficult to carry my baby further than immediate M & T spaces. I find it really hard to manage a shopping trip fullstop actually.

gess · 19/08/2007 20:33

internet? Or blue badge if its that bad (although those spaces are full of huffing and puffing mothers with toddlers)

rozzyraspberry · 19/08/2007 20:35

I agree with op - it also annoys me. It's not just the problem of getting the kids in and out of the car - particularly if someone parks up close to you. But what's worse I think is having to walk through a busy carpark with no pavements with a 2 and 4 year old. People are so busy looking for spaces that they are not completely paying attention and drive way too fast IMO.

wolveschick · 19/08/2007 20:39

Wilkie YANBU and for those who have posted saying the topic has been done to death remember there are new members out there. It's flat cap 60 something men in our local supermarket who clog up the spaces and drive me mad too!

chittychat · 19/08/2007 21:23

gess, bugger off you silly cow!

LoveAngel · 19/08/2007 21:28

I got annihilated for saying it before, but fuck it - I agree with gess (under certain circumstances). Scenario: You arrive at Tesco carpark with 2 toddlers and a baby. No P&T spaces. 10 empty disabled spaces. Safe to say 10 disabled people aren't going to arrive all at once on a rainy Wednesday morning. Park in blue badge space. Sorted. Nobody polices my Tesco carpark. Fuck it, am i going to park miles away or park in a disabled spot? I couldnt give a monkey's what anyone on MN thinks about that. I have done it when needs be.

margoandjerry · 19/08/2007 21:34

It makes my blood boil that they exist.

What's wrong with walking across the car park with your pram or holding older children by the hand? Ok so you need a bit of extra space to get children out but not much.

My 67 year old mother has a serious illness but does not qualify for a disabled space. She walks across the car park. Why can't you?

Victim mentality. "I have special status. You must treat me differently". Pssshhhaw

sparklygothkat · 19/08/2007 21:38

LOveangel, you do realise that the disabled space are there by law, and P&T spaces are there to make mothers think that the stores care about them, when all they want is your money!!

I have 3 children, 2 with disablities and people like you make me sick... I hope you never have to use the disabled bays, because you are actually disabled!!

Wilkie · 19/08/2007 21:42

LoveAngel - hmmmm you're a treat!

LoveAngel · 19/08/2007 21:43

Zzzzzz. Heard it all before. people get worked up over the stupidest things. Bye now.

sparklygothkat · 19/08/2007 21:46

stupidest things!!!!!!!

The disabled bays are there for a reason!! Not because you can't be bother to wait or just park at the back and walk with your kids... or how about this?? If its too much hassle, use the internet and get your shopping delivered!!

JodieG1 · 19/08/2007 21:52

Well done Wilkie. We have 3 children in the back seats in ours ags 5, 3, and 7 months and it's nigh impossible to get them out in normal spaces as the car door doesn't open far enough for it to not swing back and hit one of us. Also ds1 runs off every chance he gets (3 years old) and being able to get ds2 into the trolley without leaving it in the middle of the road actually helps. I also can't stand the people that park in the p&t spaces without children.

People can say there are more important things to get annoyed over but that applies to almost every topic posted on this forum. Just because there are more important things in the world doesn't mean you're less annoyed over something that affects you does it.

WanderingTrolley · 19/08/2007 21:52

Having children is not a disability.

You shouldn't park in the disabled bays if you have the luxury of being able to park elsewhere.

southeastastra · 19/08/2007 21:53

i think the fault with all these threads lies with poor design with the supermarket car parks

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 19/08/2007 21:58

[misdee looks at diabled badge and laughs] 'goodbye my good fellow, its been nice having you around'

any space in the car now whooo hooo!!

(obviously not right now, qwhen dh is fitter lol)
