Car A and Car B approach a junction at same time. Car A is turning right and Car B is going straight ahead.
Who has the right away?

B?

ginghambox · 08/11/2019 18:01

B

museumum · 08/11/2019 18:01

I think car b has the right of way but i’m not a Highway Code expert.

BatEaredFox · 08/11/2019 18:01

Car B.

Car A should wait until it's clear/safe to turn right.

Car B has right of way. Oncoming traffic has priority over traffic turning right. In theory anyway - in practise it's not something I'd argue about, I'd just let whoever go first so I could go in my own time...

LemonRedwood · 08/11/2019 18:03

B

bridgetreilly · 08/11/2019 18:03

You both have stop signs, right? So no one has priority, but obviously the person turning right has to wait before turning across the other person's lane. Like always. The only time you don't have to wait to turn right is if there is a traffic light with a filter.

Also: right away means something completely different from right of way.

Crass12 · 08/11/2019 18:03

B

Tigerty · 08/11/2019 18:04

B.

Car A should not cut across someone, they have to wait until it’s clear.

purplepalace · 08/11/2019 18:04

Right OF way Grin

formerbabe · 08/11/2019 18:05

B generally

By the way it's 'right of way' not 'right away'

slipperywhensparticus · 08/11/2019 18:05

Who has the stop sign

Dawninglory · 08/11/2019 18:05

B, as going straight ahead. A has to wait to cross /turn. What did you say op?!

MildDrPepperAddiction · 08/11/2019 18:05

B has right of way. Which car are you?

ethelredonagoodday · 08/11/2019 18:06

Person B, surely? My driving instructor said the easy way of deciding who's ROW it is, is to think whether or not one of the drivers has to cross the other's path. If so, the one crossing doesn't have the ROW.
I think... 😳🤣

Myunicornis · 08/11/2019 18:07

My apologies, I do mean Right Of Way.
I was car A and assumed I had right of way because the lane car B was in had a give way way sign and I would have been crossing his lane therefore he would have to give way to me.
Looks like my husband is right on this one 🤦‍♀️

SpiderHunter · 08/11/2019 18:07

Neither has right of way. There's a junction like this on my route to work. Generally, whoever gets to go first.

LemonRedwood · 08/11/2019 18:07

The stop sign is irrelevant to right of way. Even if B had a stop sign they'd still have right of way over someone turning right across their lane in this instance.

LakieLady · 08/11/2019 18:08

B. Turning traffic should give way to oncoming traffic.

coffeeforone · 08/11/2019 18:08

Missing the point but i once received a message "sorry I'm running late the smorning"

LemonRedwood · 08/11/2019 18:08

But you also had give way lines at your side of the junction OP!
