Car A and Car B approach a junction at same time. Car A is turning right and Car B is going straight ahead.

I think legally the answer would be neither has the right of way over the other person because both are at give way lines.

However if I was A I would let B go first because they are crossing straight over whereas I am turning onto the new road and would take longer to get onto the road and 'up to speed and not a hindrance' for any traffic that would be approaching from the left.

If I was B I would expect A to let me cross over before they made a move and would be seriously surprised if they moved before I did.

Like most sensible drivers, if I were B I would be wary of A and watch carefully. But if A set off at the same time and there was a collision A would be at fault.

Mumsnet never fails to deliver with the driving threads, does it?

That's basic stuff and the amount of people who don't know that straight takes priority over turn (can't think of a simpler way to put it) is shocking.
