Does anyone have a robotic vacuum cleaner?

SummerBreezemakesmefeelfine · 07/11/2019 21:52

I would be interested to hear views from Mums netters on this. We recently visited a "stately home" which had robotic lawnmowers keeping the grass cut short.

It set me thinking that although our garden is not big enough to justify this expenditure, a robotic vacuum cleaner might be affordable.

£159.99 although don’t want them to sell out before I decide whether I need a mop as well as my neato!

SamBeckett · 18/11/2019 18:17

@HuggedTrees
Thank you for the link.
I think to get the full benefit of a mopping robot you would have to get the vac one to scuttle round first or it would end up trying to mop crumbs and hair up

GranaryGhost · 18/11/2019 20:53

I might tell dh about the Aldi mop and give him a hard stare and see if he catches on:)

SamBeckett · 18/11/2019 21:42

Has anyone heard of this make ? It seems to good to be true

Here is its basic review ;
We recommend the Mamibot ProVac Plus2 especially for:

Small rooms up to 60 m2
Robotic-Newbies that prefer an easy-to-handle robot
Cleaning hard floors and carpets

This vacuum and floor mopping robot is not recommended if:

The area to be cleaned is greater than 60 m2
There are pets in your household
You want to control your robot via an App
You want to schedule your robot.

It sounds like it would be good for PP with small flats

SamBeckett · 18/11/2019 21:53

I think this one is at the top of my list atm , most of the reviews are good / great

We love ours. We had a couple of €100 Dirt Devil ones which we ran into the ground (they lasted about a year each, which environmentally is awful) and then upgraded to an older/basic model of Roomba, which has been going for about 2 years now and is as good as new. We have replaced the brushes on it once (got a kit on amazon) and despite DS2 thinking it is his best friend/toy car and pushing it along/trying to pick it up repeatedly, which seems like it would play havoc with the motor, it has no problems at all.

We tend to empty the bin on it after about 3-5 cleans, but we have a toddler so there is a lot of random debris on the floor - it gets loo roll that he has shredded plus all of his food mess. If you are hoovering up food it's a good idea to empty it ASAP before it goes mouldy inside.

It doesn't like my long hair very much, and we do have to put the chairs up really as it gets stuck inside them but other than that it's really easy to use. We only get the big hoover out for broken glass now.

BertieBotts · 18/11/2019 22:06

What is especially fun is that the Roomba talks to you :o

When it gets tangled in a headphone cord or DS2 gets too ambitious trying to help it it will play a little sad tune and say (in a very American voice, which I'm sure is totally useful to all the German people who bought it) "Error. Move Roomba to a new location."

DS2 says "Uh-oh" and runs to find a grown up :o

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/11/2019 16:12

I bought the dead basic Roomba a month ago, and my house is much cleaner now!

When I saw it on Amazon it was about £170, but I bought it direct from the marketplace seller's website even cheaper £154 ish. I left the Roomba in my Amazon basket as 'save for later'. Lo and behold, this week the Amazon price has shot up to £199, whereas it's still £154ish from Appliances Direct.

Now, call me cynical, but what are the odds it will reappear on Amazon on Black Friday, heavily reduced? If they offer it for £100 they could claim 50% off! We shall see!

Jinglebulls · 22/11/2019 17:21

I've just been on amazon Black Friday deals and there are a few different ones available

Hellohellohowareyou · 22/11/2019 17:40

Well after reading this thread last week I purchased an Eufy and I’m so impressed with it.

Picks up an amazing amazing amount and really helps keep on top of things, Would 100% recommend

ATailofTwoKitties · 22/11/2019 18:08

I've just ordered myself a Eufy. If it's a disappointment I'm blaming you lot

SamBeckett · 22/11/2019 23:20

I am going to buy one but should I wait for black Friday/ Jan sales ?

YoungHun · 23/11/2019 01:17

I bought the Eufy after reading this thread! Has it a few days now!!

It's a game changer!! I go to bed and in the morning my carpet is sparking!

I come home from work after picking the kids up from after school and the dinner is in the slow cooker and the carpet is .... sparkling!!

Love it! Love it! Love it!!

Ps it doesn't work my slow cooker, that's me before I go to work! ;)

Bluewavescrashing · 23/11/2019 01:41

If I didn't have a phobia of robots I would buy one and stick googly eyes on it Grin

Astella22 · 23/11/2019 03:01

I also have enough eufy and I LOVE it, total game changer. Floors always look really clean. My husband was always humming and hawing over crumbs of bits of grass on the floor so during one of his rants I launchedaazon and bought it before he had even finished.
Best product I’ve bought in a long time and I recommend it to everyone one
Lol my dog can turn it on and does so when he downstairs alone, he leaves it alone but just likes to follow it around. Bonus clean lol

SamBeckett · 23/11/2019 10:31

Which Eufy models have you all bought ? do you have pets ?

NewErin1 · 23/11/2019 10:32

The iRobot is the best thing ever!!!! We had one at our old house and I was obsessed. We had spotless floors at all times (with 3 young kids!!). I use to sit there and watch it clean the floor hahaha it was so satisfying. 100% recommend. Wish they weren't so expensive tho.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/11/2019 11:38

@SamBeckett

I have the 110 eufy I think, it’s the basic one. I had a cat till Monday & it kept the floor really clean.

SamBeckett · 23/11/2019 12:07

@Fluffycloud
thanks , that's one of the ones I have been looking at.
I havent got a pet at the moment but I am considering getting a cat .

Sorry to hear you no longer have a cat did it pass away ? ( obv you do not need to respond to this if its to painful hard to talk about )

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/11/2019 12:26

Yes, he passed away.

If you get a cat please use protectapet pet proofing.

It’s not as expensive as you think.

YoungHun · 23/11/2019 12:31

I bought the cheapest eufy. I have 3 cats and 1 dogs.

I have never managed to get my rug as spotless as it is now!

It just gets those tiny cat hairs and fluffy dog ones.

I use it twice a day and have to empty after each clean. The amount it picks up is amazing!!

Honestly it's something I would never have thought of buying but it's fab!!

Peanutbutterforever · 23/11/2019 12:55

Which Eufy for pet owners? There's so many Models that I'm confused!
