Does anyone have a robotic vacuum cleaner?

I would be interested to hear views from Mums netters on this. We recently visited a "stately home" which had robotic lawnmowers keeping the grass cut short.

It set me thinking that although our garden is not big enough to justify this expenditure, a robotic vacuum cleaner might be affordable.

@PlausibleSuit I've been looking at the Eufy L70. You can apparently set it to no mop and no vacuum zones. I'm very hesitant to spend that much money though. It's about £430 on Amazon (normally £500).

TheHootiestOwl · 16/11/2019 20:14

I am talking to my Eufy like it’s real. Someone help me... Grin

P.S Best thing ever!

Bimbleberries · 16/11/2019 20:47

The Eufy vac/mop one looks interesting. But you must have to do it on separate programmes? i.e., one for vacuuming, and then stop it and change the cloth, and then set it off to mop? The rooms I"d want mopped aren't next to each other, and I don't know if it would go on the carpet in between them with the mopping cloth attached, in order to get from one to the other, even if it wasn't mopping at the same time. I suspect it would probably not be worth it for me, much as I like the idea. I think it would be too big to get around most of the bathroom furniture, too, and that's where I'd want it mopped.

MiniMum97 · 16/11/2019 21:37

Yes it's brilliant. Don't hesitate.

k1233 · 16/11/2019 22:56

@PlausibleSuit - just close the door to the bedrooms, then it can mop to its hearts content.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/11/2019 23:03

If your eufy has a glass top it gets dusty etc, glass cleaner brings it up like new.

Our cats not keen on ours, no amusing YouTube videos for us.

VisibleShantiLine · 16/11/2019 23:10

Do any of the cheaper options work well for dog hair and sand?

Howmanymorecantherebe · 16/11/2019 23:25

We have a dog and our eufy is picking up the hair brilliantly :-) it was £160 :-)

Cuddling57 · 16/11/2019 23:32

I didn't like my Roomba and sent it back for a refund. It didn't cover the whole area and would miss bits off the floor. It got stuck under my dining table (as low long slab across the bottom) and wouldn't always dock properly. Very noisy too. I found it just quicker to get the hoover out and bought a nice cordless Dyson instead.

wonderstuff · 16/11/2019 23:42

I have a roomba, he's called Jeff. I bought him because the carpet in my new house has such thick pile I struggle to push my upright Hoover round (ultimate first world problems). He picks up a lot and I love him, but he's a bit of a twat, constantly getting stuck under the sofa or chewing on cables. So I have to be in for him to get much done, but definitely a good purchase.

wonderstuff · 16/11/2019 23:44

cookielove I live in fear of that. I have 2 cats who hunt. I dread the room a finding a mouse before me.

GranaryGhost · 16/11/2019 23:44

Lefants can be picked up for 120 and mine do brilliantly with cat and dog hair.

Scribblescribbles · 16/11/2019 23:51

Just seen some for twenty odd quid on Amazon-those ones cant be up to much surely?

VisibleShantiLine · 17/11/2019 07:06

Thanks @Howmanymorecantherebe and @GranaryGhost. Should have mentioned we have wooden floorboards, tiles and one rug. Are those brands good for these surfaces or just carpet?

Tombero · 17/11/2019 07:26

I love my roomba.

The best thing is it forces me to pick things up so he doesn’t get stuck.

Now browsing amazon thinking of getting a separate one for upstairs Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/11/2019 07:34

In-between Sebastian & Sebastian the 2nd I bought a £75 one with great reviews on amazon & it was awful. They refunded me & I bought a basic Eufy.

After cooking I flick all the crumbs on the flooor and just wipe round.

GranaryGhost · 17/11/2019 07:47

You have the same as us - it works on all three surfaces. I expected bit to do much on the rug but it does. It’s basic, solid and you plug it in to charge. Charge lasts for two hours. I have been so impressed by the suction. We have never been so clean.

VisibleShantiLine · 17/11/2019 07:49

Nice one @GranaryGhost!

Aroundnabout1 · 17/11/2019 07:58

We got a roomba and i am kicking myself i didn't get it years ago. I could never do without it now. Its on a par with my washing machine and dishwasher for how brilliant it is. I'm contemplating getting one of the robot mops too.
You just throw it in a room and forget about it and when you come back its perfectly hoovered. No more moving beds to Hoover underneath and it fits under our tv stand and behind our sofas. Its worth getting a wifi connected one which tells ur phone when the room is finished so you know when to move it.

ilovetofu · 17/11/2019 08:04

This thread is very interesting.
Which make is better?
Eufy
Roomba
Shark
Neato

I'm looking for something that can keep dog hair at bay Grin

???

ilovetofu · 17/11/2019 08:04

Or a Deebot?

happygardening · 17/11/2019 08:11

I’ve got a Eufy best thing I’ve ever bought. We have 1 dog 1 cat I have an allotment so lots of mess. My only complaint it’s doesn't do the stairs! I’m thinking of inventing one that does like darleks that “elevate”.
Three friends have bought them having seen mine and one friends has bought her grown up DCs one as well.
Don’t hesitate any longer do it.

happygardening · 17/11/2019 08:14

Our Eufy picks up everything even cat litter engrained in the carpet on all types of carpet and wooden floor. They are cheaper than Roombas we’ve had it 9 months and use it all the time.

happygardening · 17/11/2019 08:17

Hey friends had loads of building work done and had limestone dust everywhere. She has a dyson (which I personally think are crap) which she’d hovered everywhere with she borrowed my Eufy and was shocked at how much more limestone dust it got up.
