Does anyone have a robotic vacuum cleaner?

I would be interested to hear views from Mums netters on this. We recently visited a "stately home" which had robotic lawnmowers keeping the grass cut short.

It set me thinking that although our garden is not big enough to justify this expenditure, a robotic vacuum cleaner might be affordable.

My not hey!

YoungHun · 17/11/2019 08:29

Oh god I'm getting one too because of this thread!!

ilovetofu · 17/11/2019 08:35

Think I will too @YoungHun 😂
Eufy's look way cheaper & appear to be life changing for just as many mumsnetter's !

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 17/11/2019 09:11

@happygardening I'm currently nearing the end of building works but haven't dared use my Eufy in case the thick dust kills it. So it coped OK?

GranaryGhost · 17/11/2019 09:16

Have attached the pick up from my living room. In my defence it is the cat and dog’s fault!

happygardening · 17/11/2019 09:18

yup it coped well. we've done lots of building work we have a workhorse hoover a Henry thats picks up the big stuff and then send the Eufy round to pick up the dust etc.

Peaseblossom22 · 17/11/2019 09:24

Which model Eufy is best if you have s mix of hard floor , carpets and a hairy dog ( spaniel) Amazon has the 11s on offer today and so have had a cough for weeks and really want to reduce dust

Bimbleberries · 17/11/2019 09:51

Some (all?) of the Eufy models have side brushes - how well does this cope with edges and corners? that was my reason for thinking of the Neato, but they are quite a lot more expensive, and apparently still don't go right up to the edges.

And I have long thick hair that sheds massively, so I wonder how any of them cope with that, how easy is it to clean the brushes/cut off the hair? I had a vacuum once that you had to unscrew all these tiny screws to properly get the brushes out to clean it.

I wonder if my flat is too small, as there are so many spaces that it wouldn't be able to get between, but I guess I could deliberately move furniture first.

Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S (Slim),... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BFP9TNH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

This is our Eufy. He's called Ro-sham.

He copied with a long haired cat, a husky cross dog and 2 adults.

Our house is a mix of carpet, lino and wood floors and he has no issues with any of them.

I move little tables and a sheepskin rug / bathroom mat out of the way each morning.

He comes on automatically at 9am,cleans the downstairs then takes himself back to bed to charge. When I get home from work, I empty him and pop him upstairs.

I'd highly recommend one of these - I'm still appalled at the amount of fur and dust he collects every day, it's just shocking!

TwattingDog · 17/11/2019 10:05

*copes

snozzlemaid · 17/11/2019 10:11

Bimbleberries Dd and me also shed a lot of long hair. Our Eufy has a very easy to remove brush it gathers around.
You just pop off the dust collector bit to empty that and then you can unclip the roller brush. If it's particularly tangled around I do have to sometimes cut the hair off but the piece itself comes off very easily.
Only had ours a couple of weeks but it's now my best friend.

Bimbleberries · 17/11/2019 10:16

If they get stuck (e.g., on the corner of a mat or something), while you're out, do they shut themselves off until you get home to fix it? Or do they just keep pulling, and run down the battery/burn the motor out/cause damage to themselves/the item?

Bimbleberries · 17/11/2019 10:17

I'm getting very convinced...

Just not sure that in my small flat with so much furniture so close together, that it will get close enough to anything to make a difference, and if it will be able to navigate itself around all the legs and not miss areas. I don't know if the mapping ones would be better, but they are a lot more money.

happygardening · 17/11/2019 11:12

My DH bought ours theres a website/shoo devoted to all brands and it had the best reviews I suspect it was the most basic model I think about £120?
My DM collected antiques so we have ALOT of stuff. Anything he can’t get underneath I move out the way before he starts, this is why I don’t have one you can set going off your phone, by sheer luck he gets under both sofas and the chair so he doesn’t get stuck.
I have a stair gates to keep my pets out of my living room when I’m out so I’ll take the dog for a walk and leave him doing the living room he just beavers away until his battery is low then takes himself back home/battery charger . It says in the instructions you need x metres of clear space round the charger we don’t and it’s fine.
He has side brushes you just unclip and replace and a box you easily empty.
He will hoover up wires so you need to lift them off the floor.
Honestly the best households gadget ever I’m now looking at a mop one. A lot cheaper and more reliable than a cleaner in the long run.

happygardening · 17/11/2019 11:16

Apparently he was £180

TeaAndStrumpets · 17/11/2019 11:56

The Roomba brush and beater just unclip to clean, they are sprung in. I bought a set of spare parts and it included a little rake-like device to comb out long hair. Of course sometimes slim nail scissors are useful too. The filters are paper so I rinse and leave to dry, it's handy to have spares for these. All so easy!

yetea · 17/11/2019 12:19

I’ve wanted one for awhile now and since the hoovering is now DHs job he might be more inclined to get one. Do they cope with rugs with little tassels on the ends? The tassels are probably 2cm long and not bunched together

PlausibleSuit · 17/11/2019 13:01

Thanks @honeybeetheoneandonly and @k1233

That Eufy L70 does look good.

SamBeckett · 17/11/2019 13:13

@Bimbleberries.
I am in a similar situation, if I bought a mopping one it would have to be able to vac all areas then go back and mop the two hard floors I have ( all on one level) . hard floor > carpet > hard floor does anyone know if any can do this ?

Guineapigbridge · 17/11/2019 13:25

What I have established from this thread is that a) most people make their robovacs and b) those that do give them names, use male names!
A perfect topic for a sociology PhD.

Guineapigbridge · 17/11/2019 13:26

Not make. Name.
Most people do not make their vacuum cleaners!

YoungHun · 18/11/2019 07:12

@ilovetofu woo hoo it's coming today! I'll let you know how I get on!!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/11/2019 07:55

SamBeckett · 18/11/2019 10:10
