Does anyone have a robotic vacuum cleaner?

I would be interested to hear views from Mums netters on this. We recently visited a "stately home" which had robotic lawnmowers keeping the grass cut short.

It set me thinking that although our garden is not big enough to justify this expenditure, a robotic vacuum cleaner might be affordable.

We have a Eufy. It's amazing. Makes life so much less fur filled in a house full of animals.

Worth. Every. Penny.

Another vote for a Roomba, love watching her go round & do her thing it's really quite relaxing.

She really picks up a surprising amount but beware to pick up things like pet water & food bowls as mine will try to suck them up.

Poing · 11/11/2019 14:21

This thread convinced me to get one for my Christmas pressie.

INeedToGetHealthy · 11/11/2019 14:31

We have an old Roomba, who's battery is now knackered. We made the mistake of having black carpet laid down and then the Roomba wouldn't work as the "cliff sensors" couldn't figure out the carpet.

I'm stalking the Eufy one £170. Shall I go for it? Or black Friday? Aaaaah! Undecided.

TheHootiestOwl · 11/11/2019 14:46

I don’t know which Eufy to get.

haggisaggis · 11/11/2019 14:46

We like our Eufy so far. Fun to watch him pootling about. Even more fun to watch the cats' reactions! Seems to suck up a fair amount of dust and hair so between proper vacuums seems good but we'll see how he lasts. We are a hairy, dusty house and have killed many vacuum cleaners in the past. (he can get through the dining table chairs to clean under the table and so far has not sucked up any dog bowls)

magoria · 11/11/2019 16:47

I have a neato as well. The square end means it gets in the corners better.

Black Friday is coming up soon, on, amazon and also check any warehouse deals.

I also have a robot flymo. Absolutely love it.

SummerBreezemakesmefeelfine · 12/11/2019 00:57

Well after this thread I bought one from Amazon, a basic Coredy model on offer from Amazon to try it out. I have set it to do the large through lounge and hallway at 6am each day. So far so good. The bin is small, but if using it every day, emptying this is a small thing.

I can honestly say that I would not have bothered with this as a younger person prior to my hip arthritis becoming bad, as it never took that long to hoover through our small home regularly. Our ancient Dyson needs to be replaced anyway so the robot costs less than a new Dyson, but less bending and stretching.

DH is so far quite scathing about the robot, but he never hoovers and does not care how dirty the carpets get. His job has always been the ironing and mine was the cleaning. I will still need to use the old Dyson to do the stairs and corners. Our adult kids have left home and we have no pets, so it seems an ideal solution for us.

I have taken the plunge and ordered an eufy. It was £100 off so thought would give it a go. The £100 off deal ends today. If anyone wants to use my referral link, you get a pack of brushes and filters and I get cashback. Can't say yet whether I recommend it but all bar the cats are looking forward to our new family member.

Henry176 · 12/11/2019 07:52

We have a DEIK, bought on Amazon for about £90. It is absolutely brilliant, but strangely random in its wanderings. One thing I have learned is that it is heavily into bondage, so tidy up any stray power leads etc, otherwise it makes straight for them and garottes itself. Every second day it wanders around for about 90 mins and makes an excellent job of cleaning. The dust receptacle thingy needs emptying every time, but that takes moments. Certainly we hardly ever use the Dyson (which is sulking). It often finds its way back and puts itself on charge, but sometimes gets lost and just sits there forlornly bleeping. I stuck some googly eyes on it, to humiliate it.

Bimbleberries · 12/11/2019 08:17

Wonder why amazon has various Eufy models that their own website doesn't have? Like 30C max or 15C or whatever. Are they likely to be european models/plugs? Or are they older/newer stock? they have slightly different specs.

livingthegoodlife · 12/11/2019 14:14

Eufy £170 or deebot £150 - help! I need to order today. @TheBrockmans I'll use link if I go for Eufy. I'm so undecided!

livingthegoodlife · 12/11/2019 14:25

I went for Eufy!! Eek. my referral link to get yourself 2 sets of additional brushes & rollers, £100 off ends today.

Flowers thank you livingthegoodlife mine has been dispatched. Now just got to decide what to call him.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/11/2019 15:49

Yes. Have a neato. Maybe 5yrs now. He’s fab

DogAndCatPerson · 12/11/2019 15:57

I bought a Eufy. It just couldn’t cope with the floor plan of my house and it still got very confused when I shut doors to try and make it easier. It got stuck under my notverylowslung kitchen sofa and couldn’t get back out to find the dock. Useless for me, so I boxed it up and gave it to my mum who loves it (and has a smaller, simpler house for it to navigate).

randomchap · 12/11/2019 16:28

I used to have one, until it managed to escape out of the back door and into the garden. It didn't survive long outside. The local wildlife destroyed it. Turns out nature abhors a vacuum.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/11/2019 16:30

Dh had the front door open to unload the car and ours escaped onto the pavement.

Mines called Sebastian the 2nd.

Cantsleeponcemore · 12/11/2019 16:31

I've just used someone's link and now can't remember whose i did 🤦🏻‍♀️🙈🙈🙈🙈 but thank you!!! I'm so excited to get him! I've decided to call him Horace :-D

GuppytheCat · 12/11/2019 16:37

Groan....

livingthegoodlife · 12/11/2019 17:01

I'm thinking of calling mine Effy...

TheBrockmans · 12/11/2019 17:44

We considered going political, would be satisfying ordering a politician to sweep the floor, but think we are going House Elf instead. It took a while for the referral message to come through. Hopefully you clicked on livingthegoodlife's one.

Bubblysqueak · 12/11/2019 18:25

Absolutely love ours. We have a neato and it's the best thing we.have ever bought. Iove him.

We have a large dog with a a wooden floor and rugs downstairs and cream carpets upstairs and I haven't hoovered in the 3 years we've had him.(accept the stairs obviously,.which we use a hand hd for.)

GummyGoddess · 12/11/2019 21:02

We have a Xiaomi one, it can get on and off thick rugs and between chair legs. It can't currently get under the sofa so we're going to change the legs for taller ones. It also mops and you can ask it to do a zone clean up, so if you spill rice all over the kitchen you can have it just trundle off to there to vacuum.
