Ds’s friend stayed for sleepover and no ones come to collect him

Ds’s friend (both 10) stayed for a sleepover last night after they went trick or treating together. They’ve been friends since nursery so we know him very well and know the parents fairly well. We don’t socialise with them but the boys often have sleepovers at each other’s house. Sometimes we will do the school run for each other. We always chat in the playground.

Friends df works night shifts so we agreed to have him stay as his dm is away with work. He said he will be back to pick him up today between 10.30/11 as he needs to drop him off at his grandparents before lunch.

It’s after 1pm now and he’s not here. It’s very unlike him. They’ve never been this late before. If ever they were running late they’d always call and let us know.

I’ve tried the df’s mobile several times and left a message. I’ve also tried the dm but hers is just going to vml. I don’t what else to do, if anything.

Obviously, I’ve given the boys lunch and they’re very happy playing video games. Should I be doing something else?

(Ie friends phone number from that long ago, not her current one.)

Hopefully the receptionist will get hold of the mum

Just reading this thread is making me anxious, hope the boy isn’t getting too nervous

Has your husband got to the house yet?

If your DH doesn’t get a response at the dad’s door then you should call the police.

It's a good thing you started trying to contact the mum- once Friday is over you'd have no chance!

Sounds like he owes you more than flowers!what time have you got to leave for wicked or is it already too late?

How worrying, I don’t think it’s unusual though for the boy not to know numbers/addresses, but a good lesson for future. I think you’re doing the right thing by not worrying the child, though hopefully nothing to worry about and he’s just fast asleep!

I think he is just asleep and being a CF knowing son is safe at yours.

I would be absolutely fuming OP. Unless he's had an accident or been taken Ill, it's completely out of order

Is it just me or is this thread making anyone else way more anxious than it should? It's clear that the most rational explanation is that the dad is asleep and he's going to feel very sheepish and get a bollocking from his wife when she hears, and yet, I keep refreshing the page and hoping for a resolution. I am way too invested, and that's not usually me!

I do wonder if the friends son told his parents he'd be staying for an extra night and they've made arrangements to be away.

I wouldn't stress too much. This has happened to me countless times with my son's friends. He will turn up soon and probably be quite sheepish (or not as has happened to me in the past!)
Also I bet they're quite happy playing together.
