Ds’s friend stayed for sleepover and no ones come to collect him

Ds’s friend (both 10) stayed for a sleepover last night after they went trick or treating together. They’ve been friends since nursery so we know him very well and know the parents fairly well. We don’t socialise with them but the boys often have sleepovers at each other’s house. Sometimes we will do the school run for each other. We always chat in the playground.

Friends df works night shifts so we agreed to have him stay as his dm is away with work. He said he will be back to pick him up today between 10.30/11 as he needs to drop him off at his grandparents before lunch.

It’s after 1pm now and he’s not here. It’s very unlike him. They’ve never been this late before. If ever they were running late they’d always call and let us know.

I’ve tried the df’s mobile several times and left a message. I’ve also tried the dm but hers is just going to vml. I don’t what else to do, if anything.

Obviously, I’ve given the boys lunch and they’re very happy playing video games. Should I be doing something else?

I don't believe that at all. He sounds like a cf, a chancer. Either been in bed all day with someone he shouldn't be or just felt like a long lie

Does he even have a brother?

I can only imagine the nightmare of living with someone who is so suspicious Hmm.

1984isnow · 01/11/2019 20:23

So OPs DH just happened to finish early, and got there just in time for when the other guy woke up? Please.

I reckon OPs DH hasn't even been at work today, he and friend's dad were out on the piss. Bet the grandparents don't even exist

TanselleTooTall · 01/11/2019 20:40

Lol!! WHY is there such suspicion.

1984isnow perhaps the DH is self employed and has the ability to leave early..? Like in our household.
The DH knocked on the door - presumably knocked a number of times, waited a few minutes etc, until the knocking woke the dad and he came to the door.
Bloody hell, I get woken up by the delivery man when he makes his rounds. It's not unlikely, is it?

WingDefence · 01/11/2019 20:41

@1984isnow 😂

surreysnapper · 01/11/2019 20:43

could someone please pass the popcorn? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

seriously though, shouldn't we all be supporting each other here? conspiracy theorists be gone

MiddleClassProblem · 01/11/2019 21:02

I bet there is no child

SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated · 01/11/2019 21:09

😂

Op do you even have a house?

PlayerOneReady · 01/11/2019 21:10

The brother is definitely dead. It’s the only possible explanation

SoupDragon · 01/11/2019 21:12

TanselleTooTall um... you know that was a joke, right?

cherrytreesa · 01/11/2019 21:13

Ohh maybe the wife's ran away with the brother-in-law and that's why he never turned up. 🤣

MiddleClassProblem · 01/11/2019 21:16

Yes! That’s why the dad is so depressed and the grandparents didn’t want to bother him.

Or the dad found out that the sou d was his brother’s all along.

TanselleTooTall · 01/11/2019 21:48

Nope! I can't tell what's in seriousness or in jest half the time given the pseudo Miss Marple type posts in AIBU.

Motoko · 01/11/2019 21:50

Yes boy would know his uncle but he may not know that he is allowed to go with him or not,

Have a think about that for a minute...

How would the brother know OP's address, if the dad hadn't given it to him?
And why would the dad give the address to his brother, if he didn't want the uncle to pick the boy up?

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 01/11/2019 21:50

I’m more upset because I have never had a German donor or a bubble waffle and have had to google them! Now want one of each!

OP enjoy wicked-it’s fab! And your donor and waffle-saying that with gritted teeth!!!Grin

3luckystars · 01/11/2019 22:19

Then the 'brother' showed up with a 5cm tear in his coat. And it wasnt even his brother.....

Lol @BritishHorrorStory!!

W0rriedMum · 01/11/2019 23:29

Another lol @3luckystars

This is a marvelous thread. Lots of suspense but all is well that ends well.

IAmPrettyWisdomous · 02/11/2019 00:00

@MrsElijahMikaelson1 If you're in London, you may be able to order German Donner on Deliveroo and UberEats, I've done it often and they are fantastic. They also often have 2 for 1 offers on a Tuesday. It just depends if they will deliver to your area.

drinkygin · 02/11/2019 00:22

This thread is fucking bonkers Hmm the histrionics of it all 😂
Also @3luckystars you win the thread Grin

MyOtherProfile · 02/11/2019 05:59

I just want to know what makes a doner German?

Very glad all ended well.

thisishalloweenish · 02/11/2019 06:42

Oh the suspicion!

If your still reading this:
Hope you had a great night op!

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 02/11/2019 07:14

It was Rebekah Vardi

And she demanded a vegan FODMAP-restricted snack, despite arriving at the house eating a bag of onion bhajis fried in ghee.

YabaDabaBoo · 02/11/2019 07:17

Morning everyone.

Had a great time last night. Made it in time for a German donner and just about got my bubble waffle before they closed! Had a great time in all. Wicked was amazing and just what I needed after a stressful couple of months.

This morning I can see I may have overreacted slightly and got caught up in the thread 😂. I have to admit, I was almost waiting for something to go wrong with our night out. We’ve made several plans recently, which have had to be cancelled last minute, and in the back of my mind I had this nagging that something would happen and we wouldn’t be able to go out. When the boys df didn’t turn up, I might have (selfishly) panicked a bit and thought he wasn’t going to turn up on time! My parents aren’t the most reliable, or helpful, and I always feel like I have to beg them to do a favour for us. A few months back dh and I were going to go for dinner for dh bday and they cancelled on us half an hour before they were due to come because dm had a headache. I think I was anxious about the day anyway so maybe wasn’t thinking very rationally.

Anyway, it was all ok in the end. Enjoy your weekend x

No idea what makes it German. I assume it was invented in Germany. It’s different from a normal donner. They use the most amazing tasting thin bread to wrap the donner meat in. It’s very light and airy and is like a thin garlic bread. It tastes amazing.
