CoatZilla and the Barbour Boy- The Second Saga

LanaKaneIsWeirdedOut · 29/10/2019 11:09

Hey everyone!

Bloody hell, in all my years of MNing I've never had a response like this, I was really helped by loads of your replies, and loads made me giggle (Roast Potatoes!!) and loads made good points.

I'm sorry I can't reply to specific posts but seriously there's so many.

Wine Brew Cake or Gin for everyone who replied and is sticking with me.

So on to the update.....

CoatZilla, henceforth to be known as CZ, text again last night....

Here it is word for word.
mate, your obviously upset and that was never my intention. I'm sorry that we argued, I honestly didn't see the conversation going that way when I brought it up. I think it's better we let the dust settle for tonight in honesty. Probably best to have a calm conversation tomorrow evening?

My reply....
Yeah tomorrow evening much better I think

And she didn't come back last night (good!)

So she's made a mistake anyway......cos Dad was actually out last night ! So we'll all be sitting there when she comes back.

My plan is, to write a list of bullet points for tonight of things she definitely said, so I can't forget and she can't back out of it or claim she didn't say it (I also remembered another bit in the fucking row- where she went "Oh, so a fucking ghost did it?" in that tone of voice- fucking horrible)

Also to sit calmly and let her explain to my lovely Dad and DP that she thinks they might have maliciously cut her coat.

Then see what she says!

TBH unless she fucking grovels on her knees (not likely after that fucking last text- minimization or what??) I'm going to be asking her to pack her stuff.

I'm not being "spurred on by hysterical posters"

I have read all the replies, some have opened my eyes, some have been excusing, some have told me not to rock the friendship boat....overall I have taken a middle(ish) ground.....but tbh it's clear she is
a) weird/horrible enough to think that of her oldest friend and her family
b) fucking vicious in a row
c) now backtracking massively

So....thoughts???

And again for the troll hunters in the back......my username currently is always "LanaKanesomething", and I've had various other names going back years.....so bloody well report me and see what MN has to say, yeah?

@DuchessMustard

Sorry Sad.

highheelsandwitcheshats · 30/10/2019 00:33

Fucks sake. I'm going to bed with sodding 'Umbrella' in my head now.

Though I applaud the magnificent effort @Littlemissdaredevil

BlueBirdGreenFence · 30/10/2019 00:55

Gutted there's no update yet!

WomensRightsAreContraversial · 30/10/2019 03:59

Aaaah what no update???

I can't believe it's just come out that it's a corner! I have a rip in my coat that's a right angle corner, I caught it on a sharp metal corner. If it's a right angle it's 100% been caught on a sharp corner or nail as pp said, that's how fabric rips.

oabiti · 30/10/2019 04:02

Tell her that you forgive her for the way she was treated you. But that she needs to move out asap. That way, all the negatively she has flung your way, gets bounced back to her with a resolution.

If you let her gaslight, and stay in your house, you have gone through all of that turmoil (and every other emotion) for nothing, and to absolutely no consequence to her.

Do not forget the way that she made you feel. If she truly respected you, she wouldn't have treated to you like that She did it because she (thought she) could.. well, now you're going to show her, she can't.

Charliebigpotatoes · 30/10/2019 04:40

Need. To. Know. Update

LAMPS1 · 30/10/2019 06:49

I honestly think that what has happened here is that over a period of time, she has been far too loose lipped to her Barbour boy and posh friends about your difficult financial set up. Hence not inviting you out. Having now gained her qualification and secured her career she feels (and her posh friends feel) it is no longer appropriate for her to be your lodger. Maybe she has grown tired of the set up at yours and wants to move on anyway ?
Somehow, the scissored coat story has snowballed with lots of encouragement from her posh friends who won’t be giving your feelings a single thought. Goading her on ...‘of course it wasn’t an accident that your coat is ruined’
Having had your honest reaction she now wishes she hadn’t started CZ at all and can see how it’s backfired especially as she still may need you to support her financially for a while longer. But her dilemma is that she has also ingratiated herself with her posh friends whose lifestyle she wishes she could replicate.
Listen to her, see how honest she is in her backtracking but know for sure, that whatever you decide to do, she has let you all down, irretrievably really.
Let her know that her accusation is very serious indeed and the decision on whether she continues to live in your lovely home is yours alone ...certainly not hers.

billybagpuss · 30/10/2019 06:55

Morning @Lana hope it went ok.

Spinderellacutituponetime · 30/10/2019 07:35

Oh no! We need an update. Hope it went okay last night.

FlorenceinSummer · 30/10/2019 07:56

Just a quick thought, and I'm sure others have mentioned this but when I put my jacket in the boot it caught on the boot lock so when I shut the boot it created a small two sided triangle cut that was perfect - not a tear at all, could she have done that?

Scarydinosaurs · 30/10/2019 08:12

I hope the talk went well and you were able to keep your cool. I wonder if she wouldn’t even entertain the idea of sitting down and talking to all of you.

ChongADong · 30/10/2019 08:59

Wine Flowers hope you're okay OP

AloneLonelyLoner · 30/10/2019 09:17

I hope OP has some clarity and made her feelings clear to her friend. Good luck OP!

weymouthswanderingmermaid · 30/10/2019 09:27

No update yet???

AdultFishcakes · 30/10/2019 09:44

There will be no update, of this I’m sure

ktp100 · 30/10/2019 09:50

No update Confused

jessicafletc · 30/10/2019 09:56

I think they have talked, made up and now op is dreading telling us she has let her away with it. Maybe it's not a bad thing that they have worked it out and saved the friendship. Hope op has got some answers though as the doing tests with the other friends would really of pissed me off. Basically means she has been bitching about op to all the other friends despite living under her roof! It also makes me wonder what she is capable of herself if she assumes someone would cut her jacket if they were annoyed at her Confused

RandomWok · 30/10/2019 09:56

Oh OP I hope it went okay. Flowers Gin

AwdBovril · 30/10/2019 09:57

Just read PPs comments about it being a corner tear and (in idle curiosity more than anything, as I'm vaguely thinking about replacing my winter coat) was googling repairs to waxed jackets. I input "v shaped tear to waxed jacket" & there are loads of pictures of similar tears, large & small.

NotQuiteUsual · 30/10/2019 10:03

jessicafletc I hope that's the case, everyone makes mistakes and it would be much better that Coat friend had a moment of madness and projected stress from elsewhere than the alternative. I'm worried the lack of update means it went badly and the op is just trying to get her head around it.

NWQM · 30/10/2019 10:06

@jessicafletc I'm with you

Taraswell · 30/10/2019 10:18

What a loada shite.
Ffs two full threads based on 2 text messages. Drama for the sake of it. Even the whole coatzilla name reeks to me of wanting the drama like lemon drizzle cake woman.

Taraswell · 30/10/2019 10:19

Adult fish cake ... I'm with you on this. There will be no update.

Happityhap · 30/10/2019 10:42

Taraswell, did someone force you to read this?
You poor dear.

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 30/10/2019 10:44

Superb, VIX!
