To celebrate Yaniv losing Yaniv's case?

Comprehensively.

The court found that Yaniv "engaged in improper conduct, filed complaints for improper purposes" and that Yaniv's testimony was "disingenuous and self-serving" as well as "evasive and argumentative and contradicted herself while giving evidence".

Oh and costs were awarded to three of the BAME women victimised by Yaniv's action.

YADNBU!!!

Provincialbelle · 23/10/2019 08:24

Thank goodness, but that was just one battle. Women’s rights remain under severe threat. R McKinnon’s “victory” in cycling over the weekend confirms there are still many fronts

InflagranteDelicto · 23/10/2019 08:26

Excellent news. I really pleased for the women involved.

Were there any consequences for yaniv as a result of the judgement?

ghostyslovesheets · 23/10/2019 08:28

Fantastic news YANBU

ChristaMSieland · 23/10/2019 08:33

Yaniv has to pay the women @InflagranteDelicto and hopefully Yaniv now realises that the court sees through Yaniv's BS and that the human rights line won't work.

Had to google to find out who Yaniv is. How awful for those women involved. Glad that common sense and respect for women has prevailed in this case.

Whatisthisfuckery · 23/10/2019 08:44

So glad that sick racist pervert has lost. It says something about the current climate when I was actually worried he’d win.

Placemaking to see if anyone comes on to defend him.

OtraCosaMariposa · 23/10/2019 08:45

YANBU. This case is one of the most fucked up things I've read in a long time.

ChristaMSieland · 23/10/2019 08:45

It's a shocking little story, but if common sense can prevail in the modern Canadian context, there is hope everywhere.

Great news!

Almost shocking to see that there still is some sensible people in the world.

ElizaDee · 23/10/2019 08:46

Is this the ball wax nutter?

ChristaMSieland · 23/10/2019 08:47

Is this the ball wax nutter?

Yes.

Good that they have to pay compensation. Should never have got this far.

OtraCosaMariposa · 23/10/2019 08:48

This is a person who wanted women, working at home, to perform intimate Brazilian waxing on her female penis and testicles. And then sued the women for discrimination when they pointed out that that was male genitalia, not female. Because in Canada, a female penis is apparently a thing.

Hmm
CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 23/10/2019 08:48

I had to check up what you were talking about and I'm shocked!

Utterly ridiculous. Just outrageously.

Of course is a flipping fantastic victory, but as a case, it should never have got so far in the first place!!!Angry

I found this point illustrative of how plain victorian asylum level madness things have got:

Yaniv is being ordered to pay $2,000 to three of the accused women, one of whom was forced out of business due to the case.

A woman was hounded out of business for refusing to touch and wax a mans balls???!!!!!

I heard nothing about this on the news!

PickAChew · 23/10/2019 08:51

Thank goodness. Yaniv is a revolting excuse for a human being in so many ways.

ElizaDee · 23/10/2019 08:51

Common sense prevails.
👏👏👏

Can he appeal?

I can't Google because my app resets and I lose my place.

InflagranteDelicto · 23/10/2019 08:53

Thanks Christa. Didn't want to start googling, I'd end up losing time and being late for work, and want sure how far reaching the court was.

Hopefully the damage to yaniv's wallet (pocket/shiny sparkly purse) will help ram the court's message into yaniv's brain.

HeadLikeAFuckinOrange · 23/10/2019 08:54

I think it's terrifying we live in such crazy times, we actually needed a court case to decide whether a woman has the right to refuse handling male genitals in the first place.

Fucking insanity.

omikron · 23/10/2019 08:55

Excellent. Wish big Rache would do one

ChristaMSieland · 23/10/2019 08:56

I'm not sure if Yaniv has a legal right to appeal, but the judgment is so damning, I doubt there would be much point.

The full court decision (many pages) is reproduced at the bottom of this article:

The court found that Yaniv "engaged in improper conduct, filed complaints for improper purposes" and that Yaniv's testimony was "disingenuous and self-serving" as well as "evasive and argumentative and contradicted herself while giving evidence".

Presumably that was something the judge threw in as a side-point. Rather than being part of the reason why the claim of discrimination was dismissed. Because the above doesn't really have anything to do with whether offering services exclusively for one type of genitals is trans-discrimination, or not.

RushianDisney · 23/10/2019 08:56

I was so ready to be disappointed at the outcome of this case, what a welcome surprise that it ended in the women's favour.

ChristaMSieland · 23/10/2019 08:59

Hopefully the damage to yaniv's wallet (pocket/shiny sparkly purse) will help ram the court's message into yaniv's brain.

I'll drink to that.
