I've found out my dc(19) is in a committed relationship with a 33yo. I had to remind myself that my dc is a young adult now & free to make this choice. Aibu to feel slightly uncomfortable? I think I feel like this because of the different life stages.

The OP has been noticeably cagey about whether it is an older man with a younger woman or the other way around (or even if it's a same-sex couple).

They've also not posted anything in the fourteen hours since to tell us... Hmm

When i was 17, i was with a 27 year old.

Didn't last long.

He was the first man i was with sexually, don't regret it at all....

@DdraigGoch I'm thinking it was to try and "trap" people or something, that everyone would assume it was a younger girl/older guy but actually it's the other way round? Both are equally gross to me

33 yo with 19 yo gives me major creeper vibes, however it's likely 33yo thinks they've struck lucky with younger woman and DD is boosted by the notion that she's with someone older and mature.

I see both sides of this too. As a teen I had a similar relationship. As a mum I'd not like it if my daughter did. Was it creepy. No not really. But he had more life experience so I think it wasn't so equal . I was 17. He was 32. It lasted a year till I moved away to college.. He treated me very well. In terms of power, yes he had more in some ways. Ie where we went on dates, that kind of thing, but really for everything else I was in the driving seat.

As said though, in hindsight I feel repulsed at a 32 year old dating a 17 year old.

I met a 30 year old when I was 19. It lasted 5 years and we even moved in together. It depends on the people, surely?

When I was 19 I had been with someone age 33 for 2 years.

20 years and 3 kids later he is my husband.

This happened to a friend of mines daughter.
She found it very difficult, but didn't ever say a word to her daughter because she thought it would push them closer together.
Thankfully it fizzled out after 3 month's or so.
