Washing knickers and tea towels together

Who REALLY separates their undies from towels in the wash Hmm am I and everyone I know grubby ?! I feel this is a waste of water, electricity, time and money!

www.facebook.com/ThisMorning/videos/397975490837957?s=524614358&v=e&sfns=mo

(Video is Lynsey on This Morning telling us we should make sure our bras are clipped together and separate them from towels before we wash) I wanna know how she has the time.

I think knickers are fair game for any wash as 'additional items' surely the washing machine knows how to wash!

alittlerayofsunshine · 16/07/2019 19:31

🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Ihatesundays · 16/07/2019 19:37

I actually do wash pants separately Blush

I do:
Whites
Darks
Towels
Pants and socks
Bedding

I only do this as I like to sort them in a big bunch together.

SuzieQQQ · 16/07/2019 19:41

Revolting! Towels separate, clothes separate

BibbleBrain · 16/07/2019 19:41

Only time I’ve separated was when I, DH or DS have had gastroenteritis or norovirus. And in that instance that person gets their own wash and undies washed at 60 to kill bugs. Towels and bedding washed do go in at 90 if I have a full load but tbh DCs produce so much laundry between them I wash bins daily so it’s a random mosh mash saved by colour catcher sheets!

BibbleBrain · 16/07/2019 19:41

Bi- daily

LakieLady · 16/07/2019 19:42

I'm a bit like PolPotNoodle, I don't like my tea towels being done with fabric conditioner, because it makes them less absorbent. (I do ordinary towels with it, because I like them soft and fluffy, and don't really dry myself, but stroll around wrapped in a towel until I'm dry!)

My tea towels go in a 40 degree quick wash with various cleaning cloths - microfibre, linen scrims. disc cloths etc. We have a dishwasher, so they don't see a lot of action anyway.

TheHandsOfNeilBuchanan · 16/07/2019 19:45

I wash my underwear separately, I've got a net bag thing it goes in then it all goes in on a delicates wash. I started doing it when I was working away, had one net bag thing for underwear and one for the rest, two loads when I got home each week. Realised my underwear was lasting much longer

TheHandsOfNeilBuchanan · 16/07/2019 19:47

DHs go in with whatever is going, towels, teatowels, dusters etc get set aside and I do one intensive cycle hot wash a week

ooooohbetty · 16/07/2019 19:48

@IncrediblySadToo exactly what is in your dirty knickers to make them so very disgusting that they need to be separated? The mind boggles.

Alsohuman · 16/07/2019 19:51

It’s more the idea in my case. I don’t want to wipe dishes with a cloth that has been washed with my knickers. Same as I don’t want to dry my face on the towel that’s dried my arse.

Missangrypants · 16/07/2019 19:53

Not read all the responses yet but here's my tuppence worth.

Maybe they are worried if some people's knickers are those thong type things. I've never worn them myself but maybe they get lots of poo particles on more than other knickers!

As for tea towels, I hate using them to dry dishes. I like my dishes to drip dry on the drainer rather than make them dirty wiping with a grubby or washed tea towel.

Lets all embrace diversity in knickers and towel washing as we should do with people!

teenmum18 · 16/07/2019 19:57

So if it all comes out clean anyway how about I let the cat eat off the dinner plates and use the water glasses to bail out the shit-clogged overflowing toilet before I chuck them all in the dishwasher? Would you like to come over for dinner tomorrow?

This!

Washing your knickers and tea towels together is as gross and disgusting as letting your pets eat off your dinner plates 🤢

OkPedro · 16/07/2019 20:06

You’re very judgmental teenmum18 Confused

cranstonmanor · 16/07/2019 20:08

I do, but only because my tea towels are white and otherwise I only have half a load of white. I would happily wash them together if they were a different color.

Doidontimmm · 16/07/2019 20:11

Never had any training, just chuck everything in!!!

Why no fabric conditioner with towels?

Why bedding at 60?

TeaMe · 16/07/2019 20:13

Towels should be done at 60 degrees though...I also don't even wash bath towels and tea towels together.

TeaMe · 16/07/2019 20:16

60 for towels and bedding to kill more germs. Fabric conditioner reduces the absorbency of towels but I still use it.

ThighsRelief · 16/07/2019 20:19

I let my dogs eat off my dinner plates and sometimes off my fork.

I dry my face with the same towel I dry my arse on.

I wash knickers, cleaning cloths and everything else together.

Candymay · 16/07/2019 20:20

I feel the tea towels are worse than knickers etc. I definitely wouldn’t mix. Cleaning cloths and tea towels go in a separate wash in my house. Bedding and towels etc have a 60 degree wash. Underwear at 60 too. The rest of the clothes can mingle.

Theghosttrain · 16/07/2019 20:24

What utter nonsense. Cats are likely to have worms, eat uncooked wild animals which may also contain worms and other parasites, and they lick their own - dirty - genitals. They also tread in their own faeces when they cover it and then clean their paws with their tongues.

Last time I checked, none of those applied to me or my knickers. Most of us do shower or bathe at least once a day, maybe others don't....

Hotterthanahotthing · 16/07/2019 20:25

I'm now wondering, not about my knickers but about the bugs on kitchen towels and cloths. At the moment I chuck them into the washer drum if they need cleaning and they get washed with whatever goes on next.
I sort with darks, and light colours.I am now having to wash my whites with white bedding as I no longer have school shirts/white bras to make up a wash.I am wary as I have found too many long gone sock in the corners of duvet covers.

IncrediblySadToo · 16/07/2019 20:26

Are you always this rude?

There’s nothing in my knickers that’s not in anyone else’s , but your knickers are up close & personal with your bits & bum so personally I don’t think they should be mingling with the tea towels used to wipe dishes that others use 🤷🏻‍♀️

Iwantacookie · 16/07/2019 20:29

If I waited to have a load of just bras they would probably walk themselves to the washing machine Blush

Chloemol · 16/07/2019 20:35

I don’t get why people get upset about washing knickers with any other item, be it cloths or tea towels or whatever. Clothes go into the wash dirty and come out clean so what’s the problem? And yes I wash everything together
