Are we ok with our soon to be PM being involved in a domestic 'argument'?

Enough to prompt a neighbour to call police?

What does a 31 year old woman see in Boris Johnson who's in his mid 50s?

A career asset.

Unfinishedkitchen · 21/06/2019 21:05

Methinks this isn’t the first time the neighbour has heard this type of thing next door and thus had the phone at the ready to expose Alexander now he’s close to being our PM. The woman needs to get away from him although she’ll be ‘encouraged’ to keep quiet’.

I feel ill even calling him our PM. How low we have fallen. What a national humiliation.

RumpledOfTheBailey · 21/06/2019 21:06

It’s despicable and that the next Prime Minister is cause for police involvement in a “domestic” beggars belief.

Most people get through life’s vicissitudes without the police being called. He’s a revolting individual and I feel so angry about all this being ignored

carla1983 · 21/06/2019 21:06

"These are he same people who think Brexit is worth the break up of the UK and serious damage to the economy. I can't believe they would care in the slightest about a women being abused."

What???

You can want Brexit to happen, because you care about sovereignty and also be a raging feminist who cares very much about a woman being abused.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 21/06/2019 21:07

At this point it’s like choosing your favourite venereal disease...

This phrase will bring me strength and comfort in the next few weeks.

IrenetheQuaint · 21/06/2019 21:09

"You can want Brexit to happen, because you care about sovereignty and also be a raging feminist who cares very much about a woman being abused."

Technically yes, but the intersection of these two positions is very rare in my experience.

carla1983 · 21/06/2019 21:12

@IrenetheQuaint

I'm a radical feminist who voted leave because of the sovereignty issue remaining in the EU.

I know plenty of feminists who are also for Brexit, I don't think they're as rare as you think.

They're just used to being shouted down so they often keep it to themselves.

Bearbehind · 21/06/2019 21:18

It’s a set up,, instigated by BJ to get himself out of being PM.

It’s not even difficult to spot give the incident with Gove the last time he was in the running of a job he knows is impossible.

RumpledOfTheBailey · 21/06/2019 21:18

And as long as the sovereignty remains with the unelected racist misogynist domestic abuser and philanderer...?!

Newcrossboy · 21/06/2019 21:20

They had an argument. The end.

KennDodd · 21/06/2019 21:22

@Bearbehind

That's a point, I never though of that.

Isatis · 21/06/2019 21:23

This

KennDodd · 21/06/2019 21:25

@carla1983

Well let's see what the 'Brexit at any cost' Tory party members think and who they vote for. I'd like to bet BJ involved in a 'domestic' will make no difference.

Woody68 · 21/06/2019 21:28

Is this recording in the public domain? It would be the only proof the incident even happened and not a smear

floraloctopus · 21/06/2019 21:32

*Still a better option than Hunt...

Grin best reply on the thread so far.

TakesTheCake · 21/06/2019 21:35

Why would it matter? Boris is morally bankrupt, sexually incontinent, dishonest to a fault, and no backbone at all generally. We have him in tape agreeing to help get a journalist seriously beaten up and it has not slowed down his career at all. He told his future constituents he would lie down in front of the diggers to prevent the Heathrow expansion, got elected on that basis then disappeared when it came time to vote on it. In his book on Winston Churchill he wrote that Churchill had made a good career move when he hung his hat on fighting the Nazis, like it was a good career move Churchill was after, rather than, say, DOING THE RIGHT THING. He cannot conceive of what principles even are, or why anyone would do the right thing if it did not benefit themselves. He is terrifying and I cannot believe he is set to be PM just because he has a jovial and charismatic exterior. His core is rotten through and through. The Brexiteers love him but he isn’t even a proper Brexiteer. He wrote two columns, one making a case for leaving the EU and one for staying and then decided at the last minute which one to publish, based on which stance would benefit himself the most.

So no, I doubt a little domestic dispute will give anyone pause for thought. I actually think he could be on video giving his girlfriend a black eye and it still wouldn’t matter. Just like Donald Trump said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and his supporters would still cheer him. They have much in common.

Yes, I feel strongly about this total wanker of a man storming into Number 10. Rant over. As you were and all that.

Isatis · 21/06/2019 21:38

Presumably it is, Woody, as the Guardian has it.

mumwon · 21/06/2019 21:41

its also reported in the Independent - I have checked (my dh interested asked if this was the case!) & it is perfectly legal for the neighbours to record people living next to them as long as they are not bugging inside the house - apparently some very colourful language was exchanged, it does specifically quote some of the conversation - also mentioned is that the woman concerned may be moving into no 10 with him should he win.

Graphista · 21/06/2019 21:47

"Why was the neighbor recording the argument" I had a neighbour who was the victim of dv. I recorded a few incidents which I showed/passed on to the police. I'm told it was helpful in her getting away from him. We've sadly since lost touch but makes total sense to me.

"I feel ill even calling him our PM. How low we have fallen. What a national humiliation." Its utterly fucking terrifying how low and fast we are sinking!

That Johnson is making hunt look like a sensible, moderate and calm potential PM is so very disheartening!

Jux · 21/06/2019 21:50

Sadly, I'd rather have Johnson than Cunt, but only because I think he'd lose a GE and Cunt might not.

BertrandRussell · 21/06/2019 21:52

This tweet from Jess Philips “I have just heard the Boris news, please please let's not make demands of Carrie Symonds, please please don't harrass her or expect things from her. I can't say more than that really, he owes an explanation as he wants to be PM she owes us nothing.”

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 21/06/2019 21:53

You can want Brexit to happen, because you care about sovereignty and also be a raging feminist who cares very much about a woman being abused.

I do not feel there are many current conservative MPs occupying such a niche on a Venn diagram.

Patroclus · 21/06/2019 21:54

Are we still going to have to pretend Tory membes are fine, upstanding, decent people like the rest of us when they ignore this?

SadOtter · 21/06/2019 22:00

In fairness that reads to me as a couple had a very loud argument over him spilling red wine on the sofa, it's not pleasant and possibly a good reason for her to dump him but I'm not sure that has anything to do with his ability to be PM. Don't get me wrong, there are many reasons for him not to be PM, I just don't think this is one of them.

In all fairness I've screamed at DH to 'get off me' before now because he has tried to rub my arm in a comforting way when I'm pissed at him, all we really know is their argument was loud enough for the neighbours to hear, which in a converted flat isn't necessarily that loud.
