Are we ok with our soon to be PM being involved in a domestic 'argument'?

Enough to prompt a neighbour to call police?

And the police reported there was nothing at all to be concerned about. So clearly an overreaction.

Not necessarily. The Police didn't witness it, but the neighbours did.

Totur · 21/06/2019 22:20

Sorry - how do we know they were drunk?

Not necessarily. The Police didn't witness it, but the neighbours did.

The neighbours didn't “witness” anything - unless they can see through walls?

Totur · 21/06/2019 22:22

To be fair, the police denied even being called to the scene... And you believe them?

What is interesting is that the police denied anything happened at all, until the Guardian gave them the details (incident number, vehicle regs at the address etc) at which point they clarified that they had attended, and confirmed that both the adults present were 'safe'.

Why are the police denying there was an incident, when there clearly was?

Totur · 21/06/2019 22:23

I've recorded neighbours as nobody would believe it.

Confused but they can hear through them. And it seems it was loud enough to record and be able to hear what people were saying?

Bourdic · 21/06/2019 22:23

Well the police always get it right don’t they? Phew

Cos it's Boris innit....

I don’t get why people are automatically assuming this is DV and not just a heated argument?

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 21/06/2019 22:24

Remember when Ed Millinand ate a bacon sandwich in a way that was deemed unfit to be PM?

Yep. Vitally important, that was. I also remember the Daily Mail trying to embroil him in a scandal for... er... having had relationships with other women before he met his wife.

RumpledOfTheBailey · 21/06/2019 22:25

Its very common for no proceedings to be taken by police over domestic violence for a number of reasons.

This does not mean nothing happened. Surely to goodness it’s not ok for the future pm to be involved in investigations of domestic violence after reports by concerned neighbours....???

Patroclus · 21/06/2019 22:25

Interesting you mention Ed Milliband. I remember a few tories seriously trying to make the fact he wasnt married to his long term partner an issue. Now they're happy to have this in Downing Street.....

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 21/06/2019 22:26

So much minimising on this thread.

No, it is not normal behaviour to yell, throw plates and tell each other to get out. such behaviour would be reviled if performed by Jeremy Kyle guests, but if its BJ, it's just a jolly hoot.

The police generally don't give a fuck about dv. As women, you should know that.

A lot of blind faith in the authorities always doing the right thing here.

Dongdingdong · 21/06/2019 22:27

but they can hear through them. And it seems it was loud enough to record and be able to hear what people were saying?

So the neighbours heard them having a loud argument. That doesn’t mean any DV has been committed. Not sure what you’re getting at? Confused

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 21/06/2019 22:27

dongding throwing stuff IS domestic violence.

The day my husband throws something, I'm gone.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 21/06/2019 22:28

He’s so staged this. Knows he can’t deliver a decent Brexit and is running scared.

Gove told him not to bottle it and “pull out” Envy feeling a little queasy now.

Patroclus · 21/06/2019 22:28

And so it begins-

'That didn't happen.

And if it did, it wasn't that bad.

And if it was, that's not a big deal.

And if it is, that's not his fault.

And if it was, he didn't mean it.

And if I did

They deserved it.'

The Guardian have heard the recording.... They're not the Mirror.

Trump has cleared the way for this. People understand now that it's permissible to vote for a boorish adulterer if they share your views about politics. At one time, that wouldn't have happened but now nobody cares about behaviours. Makes you quite nostalgic for the days when a bit of extra-marital in a Chelsea shirt with an AMW, or a baby with your frumpy secretary constituted a proper scandal. Those guys were rank amateurs compared to what we have now, and say what you like, there was never violence.

Dongdingdong · 21/06/2019 22:31

Sorry but everyone is putting 2+2 together and making 10. You don’t have a clue what happened in that flat or who did what, because nobody saw anything. I’m not a fan of Boris but the amount of people jumping to conclusions is insane. They could very well have had a heated argument with no DV whatsoever.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 21/06/2019 22:31

dong

THROWING STUFF IS DV.
