Jegging
Tregging
Coatigan
Shacket

Etc. I don't know why they bother me so much but they make me wince. Anyone else?

I’ve only ever heard of jeggings - the others found hilarious! I don’t mind jeggings as that describes them quite well

Rory4Leader · 13/06/2019 21:47

What about shoe-boots? Smile

ILoveEurovision · 13/06/2019 21:48

YANBU OP. I remember when skousers were in fashion Shock

Myusernameismud · 13/06/2019 21:48

YABU, coatigan is one of my favourite words Grin

Kokapetl · 13/06/2019 21:48

They are a bit irritating. Also staycation.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 13/06/2019 21:48

If only hate shoe-boots if they were called shoots or boes Wink

MyGastIsFlabbered · 13/06/2019 21:49

I love portmanteau words! I have an eight legged thingy for drying underwear etc. I call it the soc(k)topus Grin

Myusernameismud · 13/06/2019 21:52

I'll concede that shacket is stupid and treggings is really pushing it. But I just like saying coatigan. Don't even own one Grin

Myusernameismud · 13/06/2019 21:53

Oh yes code monkey I love my socktopus!

LoopyLou1981 · 13/06/2019 21:53

codemonkey I’m stealing that!y kids will love that nickname for it 😁 x

GlacindaTheTroll · 13/06/2019 21:53

OTOH, I like skorts

SpamChaudFroid · 13/06/2019 21:54

Tregging and jegging make me snigger for some reason. Off on a bit of a tangent, I can't get enough of "trouser" used as a verb. I want to trouser things! I dislike other nouns given the verb treatment, especially partying.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 13/06/2019 21:54

I own several 'coatigans' they're just thick long cardigans aren't they? Hmm

OP posts:
PositiveVibez · 13/06/2019 21:55

Not a portmanteau, but I hate it when people say 'co-ords' for top and bottoms of the same pattern.

It annoys me so much.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 13/06/2019 21:55

I'm intrigued by a socktopus.

How does one 'trouser'?

OP posts:
DearLady · 13/06/2019 21:56

Jorts is my fave! Britney Spears is the personification of this word.

SpamChaudFroid · 13/06/2019 21:58

Trousering is easy! You just put something in your pocket.

AllTheCakes · 13/06/2019 22:00

Skousers must be due a come back...

MyGastIsFlabbered · 13/06/2019 22:03

But I have dresses with pockets...if I use them am I still trousering? I obviously have a lot to learn about fashion in general.

I'm proud to say I never owned skousers

OP posts:
Myusernameismud · 13/06/2019 22:03

Oh we used to just call those 'trouser skirts'. God they were awful.

I really hate when people say shit like 'team your skinny jeans with a wedge shoe and strong lip'. Just one wedge shoe? And one strong lip? Also hate 'co-ords' as a PP mentioned.

Fooferella · 13/06/2019 22:06

What's a shacket?

Emmapeeler · 13/06/2019 22:08

Hadn’t heard of shacket (I cant even work out what this is) but YANBU. DDs friend told me the other day she was wearing Dungashorts. Which doesn’t even make sense.

I have several long thick cardigans too.

LolaSmiles · 13/06/2019 22:11

I haven't heard of any of them other than jegging.

But socktopus is great! and may find its way into our name for laundry drying equipment
