Hello everyone, here's thread 2.

I'd be very grateful if someone could do a clicky link to the last one. Still can't figure it out.

Thanks!

Thanks Rubber. I love how Prince Charles wants a slimmed down Royal Family - i.e. just his section [green]

Agree with lyra that the Queen must have agreed to that.

I also wonder if the huge headache that Andy Pandy has brought to them is part of it - a distancing from that side? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never see Charles and Andrew in conversation.

ByeClaire · 30/04/2019 19:11

That should be Grin not green, bloody autocorrect.

MagicKingdomDizzy · 30/04/2019 19:12

ByeClaire

If that's the level of stunning mental analysis and conversation she has to put up with then fair fucks to her.

She could have married someone more intelligent, I have no sympathy for her Wink

Well spotted, ByeClaire Wink To borrow RubberTree's description, those of us who believe him to be "a stinking great hypocrite" anyway will hardly be surprised if he keeps all the baubles for himself and his immediate family

Polarbearflavour · 30/04/2019 19:21

Some really bizarre comments on Twitter and Tumblr saying Meghan has been arrested for treason. Hmm

Wonder why people get kicks making up nonsense like that?

lyralalala · 30/04/2019 19:23

I actually think the York girls having no full time role is actually just that they aren't needed.

To give them a role would mean taking patronages and the likes away from the Kents and Gloucesters, which would be a pretty shit repayment given the work they've done over the years.

With William, Harry and their (inevitable) wives there was just no need for two more full time royals. By the time all of the current crop are retired/gone George and co will be adults. Beatrice, Eugenie, Louise and James just aren't needed in full time roles.

MissParple · 30/04/2019 19:25

Tumblr is the home of bonkers superfans. You should see all the conspiracy theories Benedict Cumberbatch fans come up with there. If he has a blue hankerchief in his jacket pocket it's apparently an SOS signal to save him from his evil wife Grin

MissEliza · 30/04/2019 19:27

You might as well start as you mean to go on. They'd be mad to accept titles for their dcs if they wanted what was best for them.

MagicKingdom well yes, that is totally my view too, but I'm being pro Meghan remember? Wink

lyra yes that makes sense.

MissParple Benedict Cumberbatch you say? Now he'd make a nice consort for the Duchess of Cambridge...

RubberTreePlant · 30/04/2019 19:30

Ooo. Royal wife swap! Fun.

MagicKingdomDizzy · 30/04/2019 19:32

I think the children of the firstborn should be the most important and given Prince/Princess titles.

So George's children would get titles and Charlotte and Louis children wouldn't.

A question I have is why Beatrice and Eugenie are styled Princess but Zara and Peter Philips, and Louise and James aren't?

They are all the Queens grandchildren, so why the difference?

The Tumblr Benedict Cumberbatch fans made my teenage daughters laugh at me really hard.

I was trying to get to grips with how it works before my 9 year old obsessive gets into social media.

I was browsing through it and saw a post that said "Benedict Cumberbatch has been kidnapped" and I commented how it couldn't be true as it hadn't been on the news or anything.

My narcoleptic DD was on the floor for ages and her twin almost broke a rib laughing as they watched me get more and more confused at the revelation that he'd been kidnapped by his own wife Grin

The still bring it up now in a "remember when Mum thought Benedict Cumberbatch had actually been kidnapped"

MagicKingdomDizzy · 30/04/2019 19:33

ByeClaire

Oops I forgot! Love you Meghan!

A Royal facts Q I can actually answer!

Zara, Peter, Louise and James all had titled refused on their behalf by their parents. Zara has talked about this and said she is glad her parents made that decision.

ByeClaire · 30/04/2019 19:36

Lol at kidnapped by his own wife Grin

MagicKingdomDizzy · 30/04/2019 19:36

ByeClaire

Oh I see! Thank you. I thought they were withheld by the Queen for some reason.

Of course Andy and Fergie accepted Hmm

Marin phillips turned down a title for himself and he and Anne didn’t want their children to have them either - and as descendants of a daughter, they don’t get titles automatically. Louise and James are technically prince and princess but don’t use the titles (like Camilla not using Princess of Wales, which she is...) because parents thought would be too much of a millstone round their necks.

lyralalala · 30/04/2019 19:37

So George's children would get titles and Charlotte and Louis children wouldn't.

Louis' children would get titles. George and Louis' children will be (assuming William becomes King) grandchildren of the male line so will be titled. Charlotte's wouldn't.

A question I have is why Beatrice and Eugenie are styled Princess but Zara and Peter Philips, and Louise and James aren't?

B & E are grandchildren of the monarch on the male line. Zara and Peter aren't because they are not on the male line. Their father has no title therefore they don't.

Louise and James are styled as children of an Earl because their parents chose that rather than Princess and Prince. Bit like Camilla being Princess of Wales, but using Duchess of Cornwall.

They are all the Queens grandchildren, so why the difference?

Penises. Basically.

Grandchildren on the male line are entitled. Grandchildren on the female line are not.

So all of Charles' grandchildren will be entitled when he is King as he only has sons.

When William is King his son's children will be, but his daughter's children won't.

MagicKingdomDizzy · 30/04/2019 19:38

ByeClaire

Are Zara and Peter even Lord/Lady?

I have a lot more respect for Edward and Anne now.

OP posts:
lyralalala · 30/04/2019 19:39

Of course Andy and Fergie accepted

In their defence (not a phrase I thought I'd say!) there was no question of their titles when they were born. They were automatically given and nobody pondered them not having them.

There was a lot of surprise when Edward's announcement about his children's title was made. They are the anomoly, not Zara, Peter, Beatrice or Eugenie.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 30/04/2019 19:40

I think titles were offered but declined for the Philips children.

lyralalala · 30/04/2019 19:41

Anne didn't decline titles for Zara and Peter. She and Mark Philips declined a title for him. That meant any future children they had would be untitled as titles only come from your father.

George VI even had to make special LP's for the Queen's children as titles are only automatic on the male line.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 30/04/2019 19:41

*Phillips, that should be.

AppleKatie · 30/04/2019 19:42

I don’t think they are no. Although I might be wrong on that one.
