Don't want to make this a TAAT, so I'll just say I have enjoyed everyone's observations on the royal family and it's made a boring weekend go much quicker Grin

Please continue if you wish to......

From reading the squidgy transcript, the chat about pregnancy seemed odd. It seemed as though it was certainly on her mind and so wouldn’t be a huge surprise if she wanted another child and was pregnant at the time of her death.

Both that transcript and the tampongate call show how difficult the situation was for Charles & Diana, I think. Both desperate to get out of a marriage but neither wanting to be the one to bring it down and get the bad press.

Re the MM posts on the last thread: there were some titbits repeated from blind gossip and other similar sites. So nothing different to what has been said and shared on others mentioned in these threads. The only difference I saw were the reactions to those titbits.

... totally unrelated but I remembered this article from a while back where the palace advertised a job for an ‘online troll hunter’... www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6792331/Buckingham-Palace-advertises-expert-royals-crack-online-abuse-Kate-Meghan.html

MM is beautiful. Love her.

Whizzler · 29/04/2019 11:08

The most shocking post on this thread is the one referring to Tristram Hunt as a 'hunk of spunk'.

OVienna · 29/04/2019 11:10

@LaMarschallin

Thank you!

Daisypie · 29/04/2019 11:16

Loved seeing Anne's wedding particularly how she arrived at the church in a Landrover. It was all very unaffected. I feel that that is the model of a second wedding that the Queen had in mind when she allegedly expressed surprise at Meghan going all out with fancy veil and train.

Humpy84 · 29/04/2019 11:17

@whizzler that was me, he’s unbelievably handsome, are you kidding ? The hunk o spunk was being funny but he really is gorgeous.

@rethpodad you are not “the one” but there are plenty more usernames in the sea 🕺🏼👯‍♀️👯‍♀️👯‍♀️

I thought I'd gone off the Royals in about 1992 but it appears I keep remembering crazy things.

I remember Diana being quoted as allegedly saying her "brown baby" would unite the world. Found an article where it is discussed.

Whizzler · 29/04/2019 11:24

Ugh, no I do not fancy Tristram Hunt. He's so wet.

Humpy84 · 29/04/2019 11:31

Wet ? Would seem this thread has been abandoned for the family friendly version 👋🏻

justasking111 · 29/04/2019 11:36

Just a little warning Nicole Cliffe who fanned the flames of the rumours has disappeared off twitter. So carry on being nice folks.

StormyDaniels · 29/04/2019 11:38

Anne was such a looker in her day! Also like this picture of her with Philip.

@justasking111 popped by MI5 ??

Rhubarbisevil · 29/04/2019 11:55

But what about Giles Coren? Is he still allowed to twatter?

OVienna · 29/04/2019 11:59

I don't think people are making enough of the fact that Rose and Thing have not One but Two mad names. Chumley and ROCKSAVAGE. F'ng Rose Rocksavage. Should have been a clue they've been putting keys in bowls at the door for centuries, no?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/04/2019 12:06

Because that’s a sure way to kill someone, right?

No it isn't, and that's why some of us find the conspiracy theories a bit outlandish. But the embalming remains odd, with Jean Monceau later saying openly that he regretted not waiting for the proper permission

So we're supposed to believe that an hugely experienced professional, faced with a case like that, chose not to do things by the book? And that this was done "because of the heat" ... in a major hospital, which would certainly have appropriate cooling facilities? Hmm

justasking111 · 29/04/2019 12:17

I love to see the jewellery being shown on different members of the RF over the years. I would love to have a root around the collections.

ByeClaire · 29/04/2019 12:32

P&P I agree about the embalming. Very strange. No way would he have deviated from procedure unless he had the sanctioned nod to do so.

Humpy you seem to be turning into Bridget Jones. U alright hun?

lookingelsewhere · 29/04/2019 13:12

StormyDaniels Great photo - Anne looks fantastic there.

FannyWork · 29/04/2019 13:19

Diana definitely wasn’t pregnant when she died. Her female friend Rosa Monckton had just been on holiday with her and she’d had her period.

Also, practically everyone who knew her said she wasn’t seriously interested in Dodi and was just using him to make Hasnat jealous.

On the other thread a few people were talking about potential arms industry involvement in her death. I have been reading the book her Private Secretary Patrick Jephson wrote and he says shortly before she died she had a massive conversion to anti-nuclear weapons activism. The day before she died she told the press ‘you won’t believe what I’m going to do next’. Wonder if there is a connection?

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 29/04/2019 13:23

Kate has to dress classically- her clothing needs to withstand the test of time in photos and footage. The most ridiculous pics of Diana are the ones where she's dressed bang on trend- it dates dreadfully.

Philip and Michael are fascinating examples of Victoria's conquer by marriage policy with her DC, too. Philip is related to the Queen via Queen Vic because he is a descendant of her Dd Princess Alice of the United Kingdom, and Elizabeth is obviously a descendant of her DS- Prince Albert Edward King Edward VII. Philip is related to the last Tsarina Alexandra by being a descendant of Princess Alice of the United Kingdom. Alexandra was her daughter and the sister of Philip's Maternal granny, Princess Victoria. He is also related to the Tsar via his Paternal DGM, Russian Grand Duchess Olga (not the one who was murdered). So he is related to both Nicky and Alix, independently of each other, and to their DC.

The Queen herself will be more distantly related to Alix via Queen Victoria and to the Romanov DC via the Victoria link and by being a descendant of Alexandra, Queen Consort of Edward VII and sister to Princess Dagmar of Denmark, mother of the Tsar. I think she's too tenuous/wrong lines to be useful for verifying the Romanovs, although Philip, I think Charles & Michael of Kent were used due to closer genetic links. When Philip married the Queen he also didn't have to "become" a British citizen the bureaucratic way; due to his descent from Victoria he was already entitled to be one!

Prince Michael (who has cultivated both interests and relationships with Russia and a Tsar-alike beard) is vaguely related to Tsarina Alexandra due to his descent through King Edward son of Victoria and brother of Alice. He's then related to Nicky distantly through Edwards Queen - Alexandra, sister of Dagmar who is mother of Nicholas. He's then related to Nicky more closely via his maternal grandparents, who were members of the Greek Royal Family (which is related to the Danish one so another Queen Alex & Dagmar link) and the Russian royal family. As a grandson of noted Tsar-alike George V (a cousin of the Tsar via parents Edward & Alex) it's unsurprising that he looks weirdly alike them both. His head on the RAC insignia stuff is very Tsar-y.

If you study Victoria's DC, you realise how many Euro royals are descended from her and how dangerous she was as a passer of haemophilia. She introduced it to Russia via Tsarina Alexandra and to Spain via Princess Victoria Eugenie (Ena) of Battenberg, her DGD via Princess Beatrice. Ena married the heir to the Spanish throne and had haemophiliac sons. The Spanish royals considered her a curse on the house of Bourbon-Palma and she had quite a sad marriage. The Romanov daughters, whilst not affected by Haemophilia, were strongly suspected carriers because certainly a couple of them would bleed profusely with any cut or scrape. One of them- Maria I think, bled so much having her tonsils out that Alexandra had to bully the surgeon into finishing, he thought he'd kill her.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/04/2019 13:30

Glad it's not just me, ByeClaire. I've just been re-reading the evidence and apparently it was also claimed they couldn't move Diana to the much cooler morgue because of "security worries", which rather ignores the usual practice of covering her en route and having someone to stand guard when she got there, just as they did outside the hospital room anyway

Can you blame folk for wondering what really went on, when some of the claims defy any kind of sense?

LaurieMarlow · 29/04/2019 13:30

Kate has to dress classically- her clothing needs to withstand the test of time

I don’t think there’s any compelling reason why Kate cant dress more fashionably if she wanted to. Diana did, Princess Margaret did, Meghan does. And while occasionally they’ll look terrible, equally they often look(ed) stunning. Whereas Kate’s overall look is somewhat on the bland side.

If I were her I’d be ignoring the Queen’s ‘advice’ on this one (easy to say if you’re me Grin) and wearing what i want to. But Kate’s instinct is always to toe the line.

LaurieMarlow · 29/04/2019 13:33

This thread has prompted me to read up on Diana’s death. The more you delve, the odder it all seems. I guess conspiracy theories will do that Grin

Those silly hatties don't stand any test at all and classic doesn't imply frumpy.

Researching the lineage of the royals is absolutely fascinating! It's possible to spend a good few hours on Wikipedia doing this.

You can start with one royal and before you know it, you're on a page for another who lived hundreds of years ago halfway across the world.

It's truly mind boggling. And somehow they're all related in some way, though marriage or blood.
