Don't want to make this a TAAT, so I'll just say I have enjoyed everyone's observations on the royal family and it's made a boring weekend go much quicker Grin

Please continue if you wish to......

Margaret is the Queen's sister. Anne is the Queen's daughter. Margaret does early in the millenium but Anne is still with us.

RubberTreePlant · 28/04/2019 23:42

Margaret DIED^ Blush

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/04/2019 23:46

I think she got into a car with a drunk driver and had a horrific car accident and died.

^^ this.

I don't think Dodi was anything more than a fling. Al Fayed tried to make it sound like more. Not a nice man and he said some very tacky things but you have to remember that he too lost his son in that accident.

Whizzler · 28/04/2019 23:46

'Anne is still with us' makes it sounds like she's on a ventilator! Grin

Bunch of criminals. I have no idea why those they've abused and stolen from adore them so much. Maybe it's Stockholm syndrome.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 28/04/2019 23:47

Iamnotagoddess the thong combo really was comfortable, the g string bit did not get stuck in your crack like a normal thong it sat nice and neatly on the cycling shorts, purely decorative! Whizzler think I might be arrested if I turned up at my gym in my thong now, many a pearl would be clutched!

To find the royal family fascinating?

Oh, I must have been under a rock whenever Margaret died!

So is Anne the one who has really good looking grandkids (little blonde haired girls?) who are always bridesmaids and the like?
Can't think of the surname, but I think it begins with S? Or are they Andrews? How many kids had the Queen? 4 I thought? But I can only think of Charles and Andrew, one girl, who is the other girl?

One of my sons got an unhealthy obsession with this Grin

AuldJosey · 28/04/2019 23:51

Simpson! That's the name I'm thinking of. No idea who they are though lol.
(sorry, I'm not British).

BishopBrennansArse · 28/04/2019 23:54

The other girl is Edward Grin

AuldJosey · 28/04/2019 23:54

Thanks for that link. That's who I'm thinking of then Princess Anne's grandkids. Zara Philips is the mother.

BishopBrennansArse · 28/04/2019 23:55

I think the pretty blonde bridesmaids are Anne's grandkids, aren't they?

AuldJosey · 28/04/2019 23:56

PMSL! Now all the comments about Andrews and Edwards make sense lol.

AuldJosey · 28/04/2019 23:57

There's one called Mia I think - she's a little beauty.

Iamnotagoddess · 28/04/2019 23:59

Off to bed - hopefully Australian night shift will arrive Grin

BishopBrennansArse · 29/04/2019 00:00

I always think Prince Michael looks so much like the Romanovs

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 29/04/2019 00:00

Incidentally, I recall at the time, while conspiracy theories were rife, that there was talk that the RF wouldn't have allowed the future monarch's mother to 'breed' outside the race. That was one of the mad theories given as to why she was popped off.

Was it about 'breeding', or was it more about creating a link with (a) the Al Fayed family and (b) a culture seen as problematic?

I agree though, it was the talk at the time.

AuldJosey · 29/04/2019 00:00

Little Charlotte bless her is the spitting image of the Queen. It's the close-set eyes I think. She definitely got her Dad's genes. The boys seem to have gotten more of Kate's.

AuldJosey · 29/04/2019 00:03

I haven't a clue to be honest, I was too green around the ears to have an opinion on anything, but even before her death, perhaps the papers had been suggesting royal disapproval of the affair. Can't quite remember, but it's something I recall being discussed at the time.

AuldJosey · 29/04/2019 00:05

Tindall! Where am I coming out with Simpson? Tindall. They're the good looking kids I'm talking about.

NigellaAwesome · 29/04/2019 00:06

AuldJosey I'll give it a go, then I have to go to bed because I've got work in the morning.

The Queen had 4 children:
Anne - eldest, said to be very sensible and down to earth, looks quite horsey. Was married to Captain Mark Phillips but got divorced. Has children, Zara Phillips who is very successful horsey person (Olympics?) married Mike Tyndale (Rugger bloke) and now have 2 x children. Anne also has another child, Peter Phillips.

Charles - heir to the throne. Previously a bit of playboy, married Diana when she was just 19, disastrous marriage. Both of them had affairs and manipulated the press against each other. Charles has married his long-time mistress from before and during his marriage to Diana, Camilla (formerly Parker-Bowles).

Andrew, Duke of York. Married to Sarah Ferguson who was hideously advised at the time and was very jolly hockey sticks. They divorced after she was revealed to be having an affair with an american who was filmed sucking her toes. 2 girls, Beatrice & Eugenie. Duke of York has lots of dodgy business dealings and friends (Jeffrey Epstein, convicted of child sex abuse) and lots of rumours. Andrew & Fergie, whilst divorced, still live close to each other and operate as a family unit.

Edward, the youngest. Went into acting and was widely believed to be gay, although married Sophie in the last 10 years or so and have since had children.

Princess Margaret was the Queen's sister. She was a vile old soak who spent most of her time in the Caribbean and was renowned for being tight with money and chain smoking. She would buy economy air fairs on BA, in full knowledge they would always upgrade her. She has had a romance with a divorced man when younger, and was forbidden from marrying him. Likely that her alcohol abuse stemmed from the bitterness arising from that.

That's the best I can do at this time of night.

MarkleSparkle · 29/04/2019 00:08

Mia Tindall seems to be a character. Isn’t there that picture of her holding the Queen’s handbag?

Dodi was first cousin of Jamal Khashoggi, the journalist murdered recently.

Daisypie · 29/04/2019 00:09

I think there are some remaining Tsarists in Russia who would quite like Prince Michael to be their mascot.
To get back to history: one of the many sad and astonishing things about WW1 is that George 5th, the Kaiser and the Tsar were all first cousins and had had many happy summers together before their countries were at war.

AuldJosey · 29/04/2019 00:10

Thanks for that!
Poor Margaret! She should have just married him. Sod the lot of them.
