Don't want to make this a TAAT, so I'll just say I have enjoyed everyone's observations on the royal family and it's made a boring weekend go much quicker Grin

I give you - a day in the life of the fabulous Princess Margaret

Love Elizabeth Taylor! What a brilliant way to put that awful Princess Margaret creature in her place.

I tried on one of ET's necklaces once. I instantly felt like a screen goddess! Grin

Iamnotagoddess · 28/04/2019 20:34

I love this - Princess Margaret’s morning routine 1955

@chaosisaladder

Ooh spooky cross post!!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/04/2019 20:35

Apparently Kate gets notes from HM commenting on the suitability of her clothes, whether too short etc. I can't for the life of me remember where I read that, but it was recently.

So although Kate would look fabulous in some more 'out there' fashion, I don't think HM would stand for it. Not as the consort of a (future) monarch. She definitely wouldn't get away with off the shoulder day wear or black nail polish.

chaosisaladder · 28/04/2019 20:36

@iamnotagoddess Grin

Iamnotagoddess · 28/04/2019 20:36

In think they should all be a bit more “Princess Margaret” Grin

MissParple · 28/04/2019 20:36

Kate should stop being such a Head Girl and just wear something slightly more interesting anyway.

Thetruthwillout80 · 28/04/2019 20:36

Unfortunately, it wasn't a James Brown style funk - now THAT would've been cool Grin

chaosisaladder

Princess Margaret was absolutely stunning, one of the most beautiful members of the royal family we've had.

Do any of you remember the outfit Kate wore for her first engagement with the Queen? V short and Philip had a blanket put over her legs as they rode in the carriage/car Grin

ByeClaire · 28/04/2019 20:37

That’s interesting Myimaginery

I think it’s as she’s had more children and PW has stepped into duties more that she’s had to become more staid.

A "vodka pick-me-up" straight after bath and make-up? What did she need picking up from? The effort of sitting?!

Mind you, I'd quite like that routine with servants, but without the alcohol, and then maybe a bit of work after midnight for three or four hours. Perfect!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/04/2019 20:38

Do you mean Mummylovesbags @MagicKingdomDizzy?

RubberTreePlant · 28/04/2019 20:40

@mummylovesbags we need you to come and gossip!

MissParple · 28/04/2019 20:41

Princess Margaret's children seem so nice and normal considering she was such a diva. I remember seeing her daughter being interviewed on some programme about the Queen and she just radiated warmth and kindness. Guess their mother didn't have much to do with them day to day growing up!

lyralalala · 28/04/2019 20:41

Princess Margaret died in 2002 so I don’t think she ever knew that Polly was his daughter, although she probably knew there was a chance.

MagicKingdomDizzy · 28/04/2019 20:42

Grin at chaosisaladder and Iamnotagoddess

Myimaginarycathasfleas if Kate feels the need to ignore Her Majs advice on her wardrobe, not sure the Queen could do too much about it now. She's married to PW with 3 kids, she's not going anywhere.

She needs to shake things up a bit, it's all a bit zzzzzzzzz at the moment.

Meghan on the other hand- absolute perfection.

I watched a programme a while back and it said that when Fergie got caught with the toe sucking Princess Margaret was absolutely outraged at her bringing shame on the family. As if she’d totally forgotten the Roddy Llewellyn saga Grin

goodbyestranger · 28/04/2019 20:44

Why does Her Maj get to tell Kate what to wear? I'd tell Her Maj where to get off rather than look like a prize dick in silly hats and A line coat dresses.

MissParple · 28/04/2019 20:44

Well the upside of necking wine and vodka before noon each day is that it can cause memory loss of your own shenanigans leaving you free to be scandalised at everyone else's behaviour! Grin

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 28/04/2019 20:45

Ignore a note from the Queen??

whatdoesntkillus · 28/04/2019 20:45

I think the DofC is dressing in exactly the way a future wife of the King should dress. We really only see her outfits for public engagements but I think she has a conservative classic style. The clothes she wears basically have to be as timeless as possible - the images will be looked at for m years and years to come. I can’t remember her stylist’s full name off the top of my head - it’s Natasha something, she is currently on maternity leave and is married to Royal photographer Chris Jackson. I think the stylist is getting it bang on most of the time, particularly her formal gowns. Do not love the hair bands personally but they are very regal and it does give her a ‘thing’.

I read somewhere that the DofC is not actually very interested in fashion in which case what a total bore it must be for her to get picked apart when she’s not even that bothered about clothes. What a godsend having a stylist get it so right because I think the general safety and demureness of the way she dresses in public has a huge part to play in what the public think of her.
