CF county council has destroyed my wall!

I've name changed for this as it will probably end up quite outing...

The council are improving a 'road' next to my house, this road is not passable with a normal vehicle, only a 4wd. The posh golf course behind us wants to cut down lots of trees so need access for large vehicles, therefore the council have had workers there this week improving the lane.

I spoke to them about 4 days ago just to find out what they were doing (just being nosy!) and was told that they were improving the opposite end of the lane, but not my end due to funding.

I've come back from work today to find that they've decided to drain a large, muddy puddle (probably 40m long by 7m wide) by making a large hole in our dry stone wall and digging a trench onto our land, surely they can't just do this?????

Am planning on ringing them tomorrow and asking for the wall to be rebuilt and everything put back to how it was, anyone had a similar experience at all? I'm quite flabbergasted by the cheek to be honest Grin

40m long by 7m wide!? That's not a puddle, that's a small lake 😁

TheCouncilDestroyedMyWall · 12/04/2019 22:28

I know... That's why only 4wds can get down it, the puddle is pretty epic really! We get quite a few people testing their off road skills down said lane, especially late at night!

I’m more worried for the trees, bloody golf courses are not eco friendly
Phone up and protest please

CharityConundrum · 12/04/2019 22:30

That's outrageous! Have you got pictures?

TheCouncilDestroyedMyWall · 12/04/2019 22:36

No photos from prior to the damage, I'll have to look back to see if I can find any, but this is the after picture... Taken from standing on my property looking out, that massive hole used to be a dry stone wall...

The bloody cheek! I know you said it's not a passable road so unlikely but you never know, Google Street view?

Scrowy · 12/04/2019 22:45

Where's the drystone wall?

Belleende · 12/04/2019 22:46

Cheeky effing effers!

AuditAngel · 12/04/2019 22:51

I wouldn’t want a “lake” that size draining onto my property! Speak to the council

pinkpushchairs · 12/04/2019 22:51

That's crazy

BruceAndNosh · 12/04/2019 22:54

So they drained the flooded lane onto your land, and knocked your wall down to do so?
Bloody hell!

AvengersAssemble · 12/04/2019 22:56

Do you live in the NE OP?
My local council have cut down lots of trees near a golf course to make way for more housing projects, much to the disgust of the town. If your Council are like mine they will take no responsibility for anything!

WellThisIsShit · 12/04/2019 22:58

Good Lord! You need proper legal advice and pronto...

TheCouncilDestroyedMyWall · 12/04/2019 23:00

@scrowy exactly! They've pulled it over with a digger I think. Further along the wall looks like this... (It's not all ours! Grin)

What the heck that looks like a swamp 😂😂 how can they get away with that?!?!?

UCOforAC12 · 12/04/2019 23:02

They drained the lakepuddle onto your land by breaking your wall??? Knob heads!! I can only assume they thought it all belong to the people they're working for but I'm sure you'll put them straight!

TheCouncilDestroyedMyWall · 12/04/2019 23:02

Fucking hell they have destroyed your wall and drained a fucking lake onto your property! That is outrageous.

TheCouncilDestroyedMyWall · 12/04/2019 23:04

Sorry, there's now two images!

@AvengersAssemble nope, more middle of the country, it's not for houses, just a tidy up and some sort of wedding venue in the woods I think

Ring your County Councillor ASAP. Get him or her round to look over the weekend.
I don't think they can just knock your wall down ( is it yours?) and then dig a trench on your land.

BloodsportForAll · 12/04/2019 23:05

That's ridiculous - they didn't have permission to do that and that's a very rude thing to do too
Please let us know how the complaining goes

Serin · 12/04/2019 23:05

Well this is going to cost them isnt it.
Although maybe they dont even know what's happened it could just be the contractors cutting corners?

TheCouncilDestroyedMyWall · 12/04/2019 23:06

Wall is definitely ours! Well, it was ours before it disappeared... Grin

e1y1 · 12/04/2019 23:06

Not placemarking oh no.

Cheeky fuckers - surely they just can't do this.

stayathomegardener · 12/04/2019 23:10

I'm sure there is some sort of law that you can technically drain on to any lower lying land. Worth looking intvv
Definitely doesn't cover damaging beautiful walls and digging trenches I would have thought...
