CF county council has destroyed my wall!

I've name changed for this as it will probably end up quite outing...

The council are improving a 'road' next to my house, this road is not passable with a normal vehicle, only a 4wd. The posh golf course behind us wants to cut down lots of trees so need access for large vehicles, therefore the council have had workers there this week improving the lane.

I spoke to them about 4 days ago just to find out what they were doing (just being nosy!) and was told that they were improving the opposite end of the lane, but not my end due to funding.

I've come back from work today to find that they've decided to drain a large, muddy puddle (probably 40m long by 7m wide) by making a large hole in our dry stone wall and digging a trench onto our land, surely they can't just do this?????

Am planning on ringing them tomorrow and asking for the wall to be rebuilt and everything put back to how it was, anyone had a similar experience at all? I'm quite flabbergasted by the cheek to be honest Grin

So the golf course wanted better access and the council paid for it. Mmmm wonder who’s getting the back hander

AWishForWingsThatWork · 14/04/2019 15:00

Shocking treatment.

I wonder about who'se getting paid off, too, with the golf course involved.

PotterHead1985 · 14/04/2019 15:05

Yikes. Like a previous poster I assumed a couple bricks out the bottom of the wall not that they'd fckn robbed the whole damn wall. I'd be snapping mad. Can't wait for the update Monday. I'd be like you start polite and see what they say, then if they continue the cfery I'd be nuclear.

PS lookit the doggies 👀 Grin

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 14/04/2019 15:06

Wow that is cheeky of them! Hope you can get it sorted Monday.

Boy are your dogs gorgeous!!!

sewingismyhobby · 14/04/2019 15:19

Only came here for the doggy pictures....Grin

PacmansGapingMaw · 15/04/2019 08:47

Came for the drama; stayed for the pups!

Hope things go well today, OP!

GottenGottenGotten · 15/04/2019 08:54

Yikes! That's crazy. Hope you get this sorted.

TheCouncilDestroyedMyWall · 15/04/2019 12:50

Spoke to a man at the council, he's put in a formal complaint. Apparently I'm not the first person by far to complain about something the contractors have done... He was going to get hold of the team responsible to make sure no more damage was done.

Someone will be getting back to me regarding what will happen next, also awaiting response from our county counsellor

Well that sounds encouraging

Fingers crossed for you!

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 15/04/2019 12:55

Well at least it sounds as if they're doing something about it... fingers crossed for you before they cause more damage.

britnay · 15/04/2019 12:58

That sounds like a positive start

ElektraUnchained · 15/04/2019 13:01

Good so far. Hope they don't get difficult.

LakieLady · 15/04/2019 13:08

Fingers crossed it's just a contractors' cock up and they'll have to put it right.

It does sound a bit like they had the plans upside down. Grin

PanamaPattie · 15/04/2019 14:09

Good response from the council. You got to ask yourself - what were the contractors thinking? It's obviously a boundary wall to a private garden.

TheCouncilDestroyedMyWall · 15/04/2019 14:16

Also got a reply from my county counsellor, she's on the case as will, apologises and says she'll chase it. So hopefully will all get sorted. I'll keep this updated but I think the drama part is over now Grin

That's absurd!

PepsiLola · 15/04/2019 15:14

What's the damage like on your land? My god that looks awful!

I hope you get a result and everything fixed to the standard it was

VelociraptorRex · 15/04/2019 15:33

I'd be going absolutely mental OP, you sound very calm Shock your dogs are gorgeous, I'll look after them for you if there's any risk of them escaping thanks to the lack of wall Grin

TheCouncilDestroyedMyWall · 15/04/2019 17:27

Bit of a better photo, you can see the dry stone wall to the top (covered in green), the hole they've made in the wall and the damaged wall to the bottom of the photo, no dogs in this photo I'm afraid!

Wow! CFery indeed!

BlueEyedBengal · 15/04/2019 18:04

Yes love your dogs, make sure they are safe until this is sorted, hope they don't try and wriggle off the hook and put the damage right quickly.

PyongyangKipperbang · 15/04/2019 18:10

I would be making the point to the council that this cannot simply be chucked back up by the cowboys who knocked it down. Dry stone walling is a very skilled job and it needs to be done by a properly trained and experienced tradesperson/team.

AssassinatedBeauty · 15/04/2019 18:35

That is awful! What a mess they've made.
