So I let an acquaintance borrow one of the slings from my embarrassingly large collection a while ago. Made it clear that I’d be wanting it back.
Fast forward a few months and I’m expecting another baby, so will be needing it. It one of the few on the market with a lower weight limit for tiny babies (suitable from 5lbs) and I make small babies, which is why it’s this specific sling I’ll be wanting for my new baby.
Asked the other day about getting it back, and she said “oh it’s I’ve packed it away somewhere but will look.”
Mentioned it to another friend who also knows her and said she’s pretty sure that it was being advertised on a Facebook selling site a while back Hmm
AIBU to call her out on it, and expect either my sling back or the money to replace it?!
Who does that? Borrows something from a friend and then flogs it on the sly?!! Angry

Oooo I love the drama

TrixieFranklin · 22/03/2019 20:53

What a wanker!

TescoValueUserName · 22/03/2019 20:55

Alloftheboys She said that it was one of very few that are suitable for low weights so it could be that all the others she has are for heavier babies and this is the only one that is suitable from birth.

RandomMess · 22/03/2019 20:56

Avoid the drama and tell if she can't find it you'll need her to buy you a replacement one or give you the £70 (or whatever) for a new one...

Send her links of any on eBay?

Honeyroar · 22/03/2019 20:59

That's awful! I hope she's taken it off the market to give back.

PolarBearDisguisedAsAPenguin · 22/03/2019 21:05

She clearly isn’t a friend!

Everythingmagnolia · 22/03/2019 21:06

Fingers crossed she still has it

tiredybear · 22/03/2019 21:11

maaaybe, what with having a baby and all, she made a mistake and forget it was a lend, rather than a hand me down.
She may actually be completely mortified and trying to get a replacement for you. Maybe give her the benefit of the doubt before going in all guns blazing....

k1233 · 22/03/2019 21:12

Wow, just wow. I'm lost for words. Hope you get it back, or the money back. I'd be asking for the full cost if replacement as you're unlikely to find another on sale.

clownstotheleft · 22/03/2019 21:12

PMK

WhatWouldChristineCagneyDo · 22/03/2019 21:15

No, don't wait until tomorrow. It's possible she's waiting on a buyer to come and collect it. Get that message in now!

Itssosunny · 22/03/2019 21:16

Did she ask to borrow it in case she thought you gave it to her to keep it?

Anyway, I would ask her if she had found the sling without sending her the screenshots. She may say she can't find it and will order a replacement. See how it goes. Let her try to sort it out first.

Witchofzog · 22/03/2019 21:16

Good luck op. Can't wait to hear how it goes tomorrow

GhostHoward · 22/03/2019 21:19

OP, what a CF!! Can't wait to see her response when you let her know you know..!

I've lost two slings from lending them. They were clearly stated that they were loans, but because I haven't had any more children there's been an assumption that they're no longer mine.

Skyejuly · 22/03/2019 21:21

Cheeky fecker

Caucho · 22/03/2019 21:22

She’ll spin it as thinking it was a gift and there’s cross wires. There’s loads of people on here who think it’s acceptable to flog donates gifts. My own view is if somebody gives you something for free then pass it along in the spirit it was given. Not flog it for a profit. In this case it wasn’t a gift in the first place though and as you made it clear it was a loan and wanted it back it’s double cheeky fuckery

nespressowoo · 22/03/2019 21:23

Send them to her tonight. Make her sweat.

AWishForWingsThatWork · 22/03/2019 21:27

She's going to flat out lie to you about it. Just tell her you're not interested in her bullshit and you expect her to replace it. Send her a link of the one you want.

firsttimebabybirther · 22/03/2019 21:30

I'd sent nothing more than a screen shot of proof that it's already been sold and then a link to buy a new one followed by your preferred delivery address. CF!

ALargeGinPlease · 22/03/2019 21:31

Shame she's sold it, you could have got your friend to buy it for a tenner (on your behalf), then insist she give you the price of a new one...you could have been quids up Grin

MrsMozartMkII · 22/03/2019 21:34

Bloody hell! That is CF of tbe highest order.

FrozenMargarita17 · 22/03/2019 21:35

Cheeky fecker!!

updownleftrightstart · 22/03/2019 21:35

I love your thinking ALargeGinPlease

Omzlas · 22/03/2019 21:36

Seriously!? WTF is wrong with people?? Hope you get your money from your 'friend'. Cheeky, brass necked bitch.

MuddyMoose · 22/03/2019 21:37

Absolutely a CF & then to lie about it too! Angry
