To be fuming at this cheeky fucker?!

So I let an acquaintance borrow one of the slings from my embarrassingly large collection a while ago. Made it clear that I’d be wanting it back.
Fast forward a few months and I’m expecting another baby, so will be needing it. It one of the few on the market with a lower weight limit for tiny babies (suitable from 5lbs) and I make small babies, which is why it’s this specific sling I’ll be wanting for my new baby.
Asked the other day about getting it back, and she said “oh it’s I’ve packed it away somewhere but will look.”
Mentioned it to another friend who also knows her and said she’s pretty sure that it was being advertised on a Facebook selling site a while back Hmm
AIBU to call her out on it, and expect either my sling back or the money to replace it?!
Who does that? Borrows something from a friend and then flogs it on the sly?!! Angry

Itsaslingthing.com is good for renting slings if you don't have a library nearby.

greenpop21 · 24/03/2019 19:28

Absolutely call her out!

PeapodBurgundy · 24/03/2019 19:30

I'm with the OP on the sling collection thing. It gets a little addictive. I have a few wraps which are different weights and types of fabric mainly, but one that I just bought for fancy Blush, a buckle carrier for back carries as my son could be a right bugger for staying put while I got the wrap on, and a Mamaway one I had given that I've yet to try. I hate the pram. It's a PITA on and off the bus with the bugger.

MumOfOne92 · 24/03/2019 19:51

Wish I'd known about this caboo sling, I waited 8lb before my little girl fit in mine, she was born 5lb 10oz! I should have shopped around more, didn't find any little baby ones around :(

MyBreadIsEggy · 24/03/2019 20:25

Jokie I’ve got one of the original standard size ones with a limited edition print, and a toddler-size original Smile
I’m wanting to invest in a Tula Free To Grow too to give it a whirl with this baby Blush

@MyBreadIsEggy: thanks for replying!

OohToBeAah · 25/03/2019 11:49

Hi OP,

I feel as though I should let you know that you have "made" The Daily Mirror Confused

Can link if required.

MyBreadIsEggy · 25/03/2019 11:51

Oh wonderful Hmm

OP posts:
MyBreadIsEggy · 25/03/2019 11:54

I’ve found it.
Well listen in Daily Mirror:

You and your lazy “journalists” are a bunch of cheeky fuckers too Hmm Is it really such a slow news day that the best thing you have to print is threads from parenting sites Hmm

I'm going against the majority here - but I think you are a bit unreasonable. Obviously she shouldn't have borrowed it if she never intended to give it back, certainly she shouldn't have sold it. But my take would be YABU for lending out stuff you may want to use later. Never lend unless you are prepared to write it off in my book!

Barrenfieldoffucks · 25/03/2019 12:01

What a ridiculous idea. The word 'lend' exists because it is a well known concept to give something temporarily and have it returned later. If the OP hadn't specified that she wanted it back that would be one thing, but she did.

MyBreadIsEggy · 25/03/2019 12:08

Exactly Barren - I did say that I’d be wanting it back when she was finished with it.
If I’d not clarified that, then I could maybe get my head around her not giving it back.

bluejava a bit late to the party - sling showdown done and dusted.

DarlingNikita · 25/03/2019 12:22

She's a CF and spineless to boot. How graceless of her to let her DH pay and apologise.

You won't miss her, I don't think, OP.

MyBreadIsEggy · 25/03/2019 12:41

DailyMailFuckRightOff oh how apt your username is right now Grin

IncrediblySadToo · 25/03/2019 12:45

Lying about packing it away, lying it & ignoring you...it would be the end of the friendship for me.

Despite having the money to buy a new one I’d still be upset as I’d have wanted mine back...however, you sound less emotionally invested in it, so that’s good.

You have to wonder how long that marriage will last. He sounds far too nice for her.

& the daily mail can fuck off, how low do they have to go?

Acis · 25/03/2019 12:55

This is a lesson

Maybe learn the lesson of reading the thread, or at least the OP's posts, before posting, stargazerlil?

BettyDuMonde · 25/03/2019 13:10

She’s lucky you didn’t loan her a limited edition Artipoppe or her husband would really have something to be embarrassed about! 😜

Itwouldtakemuchmorethanthis · 25/03/2019 13:25

I love slings too (but then I’m a mum met in my pockets no handbag person too!) I didn’t have a pushchair till my first was 9mnths. But I’ve only ever had two slings. One canvas pockety one and a wrap. The wrap has seen me through 5 babies Grin. I just don’t get the collection thing.

Itwouldtakemuchmorethanthis · 25/03/2019 14:43

Wallet in my pocket. Sorry, not sure how I met seed that.

Mumoflove · 25/03/2019 19:24

Don’t believe your friend because there are so many things advertised everywhere she might be mistaken. Insist that your friend unpacks it, give her a week or so then confront her with the fb theory

RLABC · 25/03/2019 20:27

@Mumoflove if you can't be bothered to RTFT then at least do the OP the courtesy of skimming through to her updates.

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 25/03/2019 20:39

@MyBreadIsEggy glad her DH sorted it.

We had a caboo for tiny DS2 but Amazon have emailed us to say it's being recalled due to safety reasons earlier this month.

Calzone · 28/03/2019 08:05

@mumoflove

Are you really so stupid that you post after over 320 posts thinking you are helping?

It’s been resolved.

RTFT FIRST 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Itssosunny · 28/03/2019 09:51

Fair enough, mumoflove didn't read the whole thread but it doesn't give right to some of you to be so rude to this user.

What's the problem with Mumsnet not allowing editing? Would it not be better if OP could edit her original post that the issue had been resolved?
