To ask if anyone is actually comfy in a bra?

I am 54 and, having had no kids, have reasonably “perky” boobs. Hey, being childless has to have a little upside, ok. Average cup size. I hate wearing a bra! Obviously need to if inappropriate not to, but find most bras hellishly uncomfortable really. Do I have any ummm..support for this view?

Yes my bras are comfortable. Need some light wearing in like shoes but fine after that.
What size are you wearing and what dress size are you? Have you been properly measured somewhere like Bravissimo? Or done the boob or bust calculator?

Stevienickssleeves · 06/03/2019 23:23

Opposite..i am only comfy in a bra. Can't bear the feeling of boobs flopping about

HennyPennyHorror · 06/03/2019 23:23

I never wear one. I think they're bloody awful. I was flat until I had kids and then got a smallish bust...well...small. But now I have an actual "boob" whereas before it was like a boy's.

I think bras are terrible things....wire inside your underwear"??? no thanks. I wear a vest top thing just to stop my nipples poking out but I don't care if people can see them moving or anything.

WHen I read about women talking about that moment when they get home at night and the relief of taking off their bra...well I think "Why wear one if it's that uncomfortable!?

Pocketfull · 06/03/2019 23:24

Bras are the devil’s playthings.
Ive spent ridiculous amounts on a single bra, and they’re still bloody uncomfortable, even after being properly fitted.
I have rather large boobs, and the best bra I’ve ever bought in a very deep plung wonderbra, even then though it’s just a chore to wear.

Henrysmycat · 06/03/2019 23:25

I’m a 30HH. Unfortunately, only comfy in a bra.

Aquamarine1029 · 06/03/2019 23:26

Christ, I hate bras. I do have some comfortable stretchy bras, but I only wear them around the house. They aren't great for lift. I hate them.

I'm uncomfortable without a bra and wear one even for sleeping. Blessed with a considerable set of lady pillows though and that means if I didn't contain them it'd be like stuffing hay nets but in full view of the unsuspecting public.

Daughter is of very slight build and hates having to wear a bra she's forever up and down loose, wild and free but I get uncomfortable just at the thought.

Get out the shower, wrap my hair in towel, moisturise and then QUICK!! BRA MUST GO ON RAPID STYLE WHERE'S MY BRA??!"

toffee1000 · 06/03/2019 23:28

I’ve never had a problem with a bra. My boobs aren’t particularly huge either. I get underboob sweat if I don’t wear one.

Tinkerbell456 · 06/03/2019 23:29

@ buffalo cauliflower. Have been properly measured, though not all that recently. C cup but seems a fraction small lately. Not sure why. No weight gain or anything. Maybe I need to be measured again.

I'm older than you and I've had 3 children. I'm slim, and though my boobs aren't large, they're really pretty good for a woman of my age.

I've never found bras uncomfortable but I do take time and trouble to find bras that fit properly.

Perhaps you're wearing the wrong size bra; apparently a great many women are supposed to be walking around in the wrong size bra, or so I've read.

Over the years I've been measured in several different shop and the sizing has varied amazing, so I'm not going to suggest you get yourself measured because I'm not sure that's going to help.

Crustaceans · 06/03/2019 23:31

I find life more comfortable in a bra too.

Cryalot2 · 06/03/2019 23:31

I am a 34 back with large cup size. I find bravissimo excellent.
Beautiful comfortable bras.

GroggyLegs · 06/03/2019 23:32

Boobs like spaniels ears.
Love my bra.

whywhywhy6 · 06/03/2019 23:33

Small boobs and am comfortable in a bra.

Designerenvy · 06/03/2019 23:33

I've small boobs and find bras very uncomfortable..... necessary but uncomfortable .

Macaroni46 · 06/03/2019 23:34

I get very sore boobs each month and can only bear it through wearing a very supportive bra. It would be unbearable without. Guess we're all different.

Tinkerbell456 · 06/03/2019 23:35

Bravissimo are in the Uk? I’m in Oz unfortunately!

esk1mo · 06/03/2019 23:35

i hate them! i rarely wear one. ill wear a sports bra to gym, or a lace bralette if i need to.

they’re so uncomfortable, and if you’re a small cup like me (32C/34B) then they’re pointless imo.

i understand if you have big boobs and you prefer a bra, but to me they are just an item of underwear that men expect women to wear to have “perky” boobs.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/03/2019 23:38

@Tinkerbell456 C what? A 30C and a 36C are wildly different sizes. Most places are still measuring wrong and adding unnecessary numbers.

user1471453601 · 06/03/2019 23:39

I've tried a lot of different bras and never found one I'm comfortable in all day. I am a bit odd though. One operation (breast cancer) ended with me having one boob larger than the other due to scar tissue adhering to my chest wall. Then I had a back operation (lung cancer) that left me with a scar from the nape of my neck, into a J shape with the tail of the J ending where a bra wou l sit. Second round of breast cancer (opposite breast) left me with scar tissue about an inch away from where lung cancer scar ended.

I mostly now wear stretchy camisole tops. Fortunatley, I'm not big of nork. Well, one is probably a C cup, the other more a A/B cup.

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/03/2019 23:40

@esk1mo which are you, 32C or 34B? Despite being sister sizes they fit quite differently in practice. Give the boob or bust calculator a go booborbust.com

Squigglesworth · 06/03/2019 23:41

I'm on the small side of average, and hate the feeling of going braless. Having everything held in place feels soooo much nicer than the alternative. That said, I've had some bras that were uncomfortable, and sometimes it does feel good to take a bra off-- but I usually just want to switch into a different one right away. Lately, I prefer comfy sports bras and bralettes.

BackforGood · 06/03/2019 23:44

I've never felt uncomfortable in a bra. Mind, I don't go for underwired ones. I'm neither huge nor tiny.
You need to get yourself over to the bra gurus, and sort yourself out a well fitting bra.

Twofurrycatsagain · 06/03/2019 23:46

My bras are temperamental critters. Some are like heels - time limit on how long they are wearable for. Sine bras need wearing in a bit. Some get irritating as they age. I always get fitted and most of my bras are expensive (or would be at full price)
