To ask if anyone is actually comfy in a bra?

I am 54 and, having had no kids, have reasonably “perky” boobs. Hey, being childless has to have a little upside, ok. Average cup size. I hate wearing a bra! Obviously need to if inappropriate not to, but find most bras hellishly uncomfortable really. Do I have any ummm..support for this view?

I'm a 40HH according to BoB, but tried a 40H in M&S & there was far too much fabric in the cup.

Today I'm wearing my first Molke bra & it's really comfy - no wires more like a crop top & it's great for breastfeeding in. Definitely recommend them: www.molke.co.uk

RiverTam · 07/03/2019 13:35

I've looked at the Molke ones - are they not a bit hot? I don't know if I'd fancy wearing one in the summer. And do they drag on your shoulders?

FluffyMunchkin · 07/03/2019 14:11

I'm comfortable enough, but would rather not wear one and just have a t-shirt on with no bra (I am large-chested). Sadly that's not an option in the workplace - I can't pull off the Rachel Green braless look, as my boobs are too big.

APurpleSquirrel · 07/03/2019 14:13

@RiverTam there is certainly more fabric than a standard bra so possibly they'd be more warm? But this is my first so not sure.

As for drag, I think as long as you get the right size it shouldn't.

RiverTam · 07/03/2019 14:19

thanks Squirrel. I either seem to get the right size band but then that clamps me so tightly it's really uncomfortable and sometimes I feel like I can hardly breathe, or I get a size up (still not great but better) and then it drags on my shoulders. Or, if I'm especially lucky, it'll do both!

PickAChew · 07/03/2019 14:41

Why are we all attempting to hoist our bosoms up?

Because, otherwise, it's impossible to move at more than sloth pace without pain. They're bloody heavy.

Londonmummy66 · 07/03/2019 14:42

@PickleFish if you're struggling to get a bra that fits could you get to Rigby and Peller - they don't have many boutiques but they do sort you out with very well fitting (albeit very expensive) bras. It's probably worth a day trip to London to get fitted. I wore a 36C for years until I went there to discover that I was a 32F

PickleFish · 07/03/2019 15:16

I might try there again. I did try years ago ,but still couldn't find one that didn't roll up, even if the size that they suggested. They are fine when I put them on, but not a few hours later. Or the last for a week or two, but not once washed. etc. So frustrating!

CaptainButtock · 07/03/2019 16:42

If you let out a sigh of relief when you take your bra off...you ARE uncomfortable in it, whether you acknowledge it or not.
I realised I was doing this so I ditched the bloody things months ago and haven’t looked back.
That said, I’m an A cup so a rightish vest top is plenty of support. I can well imagine are more well endowed lady needing more support.

CaptainButtock · 07/03/2019 16:42

Tightish

Knitclubchatter · 07/03/2019 16:45

Booked for a lift at the end of next month. Getting the girls downsized and hoicked up surgically at 62, bras look cute until on...

stayathomer · 07/03/2019 16:49

I love taking my bra off late in the evening but have gone the odd day without a bra and felt awful until I put one on ( then relieved to get it off later!!)

CookPassBabtridge · 07/03/2019 16:52

Mine are comfortable but I have a strong love for them as my braless boobs are huge and saggy. Bras hoist me up Grin

Ivegotthree · 07/03/2019 16:52

My bras are v comfy. I'm 36C or B. I wear to shirt bras from M&S or Triumph and literally do not feel them.

crumpetsandacuppa · 07/03/2019 17:45

I always felt fine in a bra until I was pregnant then couldn't wait to take it off and that remains now that DS is five. Have one on if I'm seeing people but take it off the minute I can...same with jeans/jeggings etc.

BuffaloCauliflower · 07/03/2019 17:54

@SweatyUnderboob what do you mean ‘humongous F, G, H’? That’s wildly vague. You can’t be all 3. What back size? I’m a 32FF and my boobs are not even remotely humongous

MIdgebabe · 07/03/2019 18:05

I’ll second the molke. No more red stripes under the boob, no more straps falling off my shoulders. No overspill when the hormones go awol. I am not being forced into an unnatural shape.

AnyFucker · 07/03/2019 18:09

I am only comfortable in a bra. I have special sleep bras too.

For years I thought I was a 34B. Nope. I am a 32 DD and look much better for wearing a bra that actually fits.

MamaDane · 07/03/2019 18:12

My boobs are a bit saggy so sometimes, especially if I'm going out I feel far more comfortable with a bra, so they don't stick to my ribs and get underboob sweat lol Grin

YesQueen · 07/03/2019 18:13

I find bras comfy. 34K

cupofteaandcake · 07/03/2019 18:17

I am large of nork and find my bras uncomfortable when they are the wrong size, ie. I put on weight and then try and squeeze into them. I have lost some weight recently and need to get some new bras, I heard this lady on 5Live last week, she sounded great. I don't live anywhere near there but am considering driving up there!

Me. I’ve just gone wireless (and saved a lot of cash) having bought these comfy bralettes. I never have that “thank god I can take it off now” feeling now. Of all places .... Sainsbury’s at £16 for two.
