To think nobody likes the salad bit on the side?

You know when you go into a cafe and order a sandwich, or jacket potato and other snack, and when it comes there is a tiny bit of basic salad on the side? AIBU to think no one actually wants that? It is simply a way to make it look a bit nicer and thus charge us more money?

I like it, sorry!

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/01/2019 12:02

I always eat it. YABU.

user1493413286 · 31/01/2019 12:02

I like it

ludothedog · 31/01/2019 12:03

I like it too especially if there is a nice dollop of coleslaw as I don't bother buying it for home as it's just me that eats it

PinkHeart5914 · 31/01/2019 12:04

I don’t like it!

Basic boring salad on the side nobody wants, don’t get me wrong I love a good salad but not the big standard lettuce and half a tomato

AwdBovril · 31/01/2019 12:04

I like it. I don't even mind if there's no coleslaw or dressing. I like salad!

ApocalypseNowt · 31/01/2019 12:04

I hate it. I don't want it but feel like I am being judged not unfairly as a salad dodger if I don't eat it. I usually just eat the 'good' bits (tomato and cucumber) and leave the leaves.

I also overthink things.

thecatsthecats · 31/01/2019 12:04

On the side of a sandwich - no.
On the side of a jacket potato - yeah, I do like it to be fair. Decent though, not a garnish.

What I would really like is more mains including a generous portion of veg as part of the actual main component of the meal.

Not vegetarian options. Not optional sides of vegetables (often piffling quantities). Just mains that include a decent amount of veg as standard.

Sandwiches that don't use salad to sub for filling. Pasta dishes with the veg incorporated. Nice amounts of veg with a roast.

WeCameToDance · 31/01/2019 12:05

Sorry op, I like it too!

Whisky2014 · 31/01/2019 12:05

I like It!

Waveysnail · 31/01/2019 12:06

If it's decent fresh salad

BigChocFrenzy · 31/01/2019 12:06

I love it !

Whisky2014 · 31/01/2019 12:06

Oh i love a salad sandwich thecats!

Seline · 31/01/2019 12:07

I agree OP I hate it.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 31/01/2019 12:07

Rocket, 2 small tomatoes, 3 slivers of yellow pepper. 3 ready salted crisps?

Can't be arsed with it.

DrCristinaYang · 31/01/2019 12:08

I like a good side salad.

MeetJoeTurquoise · 31/01/2019 12:09

I wish they'd put more on. I love rocket, watercress and spinach leaves, in fact most of my dinner plate was covered in them last night, the fish was the side Grin

SilverBirchTree · 31/01/2019 12:09

I love rocket. I honestly felt the need to jump on here just to defend rocket.

✊🏼rocket is yummy.

PineapplesAndTheGovernment · 31/01/2019 12:10

I like salad but not salad garnishes as they tend to be tasteless. I eat them to be healthy though

CottonSock · 31/01/2019 12:10

I do, except bloody onion. Who eats raw onion.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 31/01/2019 12:11

Haha @rocketfans!

MorningsEleven · 31/01/2019 12:11

I like it. What I don't like is getting a veggie main with no vegetables on the side with the excuse that there are already vegetables in it. I don't care. If I'm spending a tenner on a bit of goats cheese bloody quiche, I want stuff with it (mainly chips)

LazyLemur · 31/01/2019 12:12

Yum! Although I'd be happy with a bit of iceberg and grated carrot. Love salad.

marymarkle · 31/01/2019 12:13

I am surprised at how many people like these.
I like salad, but this kind tends to be pretty tasteless.

Hate it. Especially if it’s gone warm where the potato sat on it.
