About bridesmaid dresses (BTW I know I am not)

Ok so I may have been a bit clickbaity but I am getting so frustrated.

3 adult bridesmaids, we are paying for the dresses budget of £80 each. One size 8 petite, 2 size 16/18s.

All I want is sage green dresses with sleeves (don't mind if they are 1/2 full length or 3/4), all bridesmaids happy with the style. I am basically totally flexible on length and on embellishments...

I can't find anything anywhere with sleeves. They don't exist! I am getting married in October I don't want freezing cold blue bridesmaids! Plus the two bigger girls are conscious of their arms.

Also I don't know if I can trust janky sites like jjs house or bliss extra. I have already checked johnlewis, coast, phase eight, Dorothy Perkins, monsoon etc.

Please help me! Where did you get your bridesmaid dresses from?

AIBU in thinking that there should be somewhere I can get these dresses from or am I being picky and unreasonable?

Multiway dresses can sometimes be worn with sleeves.

Florries · 29/01/2019 11:27

eBay?

3luckystars · 29/01/2019 11:28

I got mine from RK bridal in new york, they are not an online retailer, they are a shop that ships. ( if that makes sense)
Bridesmaid was Dessy dress and cost e250 here but cost $80 from RK bridal.

Blobby10 · 29/01/2019 11:28

Could you get some bolero jackets or wraps to go with the sleeveless dresses? I got married in Oct 1992 and struggled to get long sleeves even then! Managed it but the dresses weren't particularly nice and cost more than your budget.

Houseonahill · 29/01/2019 11:30

Will you compromise on colour? Debenhams have some lovely ones but not in sage green

Disfordarkchocolate · 29/01/2019 11:30

This sort of style can be found in lots of colours, this one is Debenhams

How about adding little shrugs to cover their arms and shoulders? Buy the dresses you all love and add a shrug. Have them made by a local dressmaker if need be, if the colour is hard to match.

I got my wedding bouquets for bridesmaids from jjshiuse postage was excessive but products very good and you can see real reviews and pictures.

ASOS is good for dresses that can be bridesmaidy. Either that or chi chi London usually have a good range.

VimFuego101 · 29/01/2019 11:35

Lightinthebox does made to measure dresses in tons of colour choices. I bought a dress from there and was really impressed. It will take a while to arrive though.

RadicalFern · 29/01/2019 11:36

When I was a bridesmaid we got ours off amazon. They had lots of options and it's easy to send them back if they're unsuitable or if you need to go up or down a size.

HairsprayBabe · 29/01/2019 11:36

Will consider jackets/wraps the only two things I am set on is the colour and some sort of sleeve - at least a 1/2 sleeve.

This was my dream dress but is sold out in the sizes I need and after contacting them they said they don't know if they are coming back in stock.

I hate the multiway dresses and all my BMs agree.

Obviously sage green is a subjective colour, so I am pretty flexible on the definition of "sage" but I prefer the darker versions.

It’s almost impossible to find BM dresses with sleeve - I know, I tried! In the end I put them in soft fluffy boleros, it looked really good.

fanomoninon · 29/01/2019 11:37

Asos is great, and reasonably priced but ime most bridesmaids dresses tend to be sleeveless - I'd go bolero/cardi/wrap/shrug route.

Is Sage an in colour at the mo - feels a little niche? might have more flexibility with a grey/silver which would go well with sage?

PsychoSyd · 29/01/2019 11:38

I've bought dresses from JJs House before and they've been great.

fanomoninon · 29/01/2019 11:38

x-post re: sage :-)

CurbsideProphet · 29/01/2019 11:38

I'm also looking for bridesmaids dresses for October and need one with sleeves (the other doesn't mind). I want to pick dresses they can wear again (I hate waste), but it's difficult to find dresses that aren't full length evening gown styles. I'm waiting until later in the year when they'll be more sales and even get a little bolero for the one who wants sleeves. It's a right ball ache, so I'm focusing on more important things first like looking at photos of table decorations Grin

Too pale? And £9 over budget...

Or this with a cover up:

They have it in 8 petite and a separate listing for the bigger sizes

WH1SPERS · 29/01/2019 11:39

I got mine from light in the box.

Excellent quality but take a long time to arrive and you need to measure VERY accurately . If in doubt add on a little and dresses can be taken in.

HairsprayBabe · 29/01/2019 11:39

I have heard such horror stories about JJ's house and FHFH but the dresses look good and I don't know who to believe! We are on a tight budget and we really can't afford to be conned I am just very weary!

Over budget but no shrug needed and very wearable after the event.

Will suit small and curvy alike. If your BM would consider contributing a bit it might be a possibility. (Not sage green but v pretty)
