About bridesmaid dresses (BTW I know I am not)

Ok so I may have been a bit clickbaity but I am getting so frustrated.

3 adult bridesmaids, we are paying for the dresses budget of £80 each. One size 8 petite, 2 size 16/18s.

All I want is sage green dresses with sleeves (don't mind if they are 1/2 full length or 3/4), all bridesmaids happy with the style. I am basically totally flexible on length and on embellishments...

I can't find anything anywhere with sleeves. They don't exist! I am getting married in October I don't want freezing cold blue bridesmaids! Plus the two bigger girls are conscious of their arms.

Also I don't know if I can trust janky sites like jjs house or bliss extra. I have already checked johnlewis, coast, phase eight, Dorothy Perkins, monsoon etc.

Please help me! Where did you get your bridesmaid dresses from?

AIBU in thinking that there should be somewhere I can get these dresses from or am I being picky and unreasonable?

@HairsprayBabe Possibly! It's such a lovely green, though; not wishy-washy. The only thing that might concern me is how the waist band falls where the tulle skirt meets the bodice: that style can be unforgiving if you've got a bit of a tum (bitter, personal experience).

If you pop this over on S&B, I'm sure they'll keep a look-out.

ButtonMoonLoon · 29/01/2019 14:05

If you like the H&M one it’s worth phoning a few branches to see if they have the sizes in store. I find their customer service really great so if you explain I’m sure they’ll be helpful!

SewingBeesDontSting · 29/01/2019 14:05

Sorry but you'd have to pay me £££££ to wear sage green.
Sounds like your bridesmaids are being very accommodating compared to you OP.
Definitely don't ask them to chip in for your perfect wedding. That's beyond cheeky.

NeverPromisedYouARoseGarden · 29/01/2019 14:09

nowlook you're welcome Grin

My poor mum had been trying to get that dress for ages and was so excited when she found it. It was the first thing she ever bought online too. I felt really sorry for her. She had to cancel her credit card, go through the palaver of getting a refund from CC company and then was advised to take the dress to LK Bennett for them to check it over. They were horrified. It was a terrible copy too. Not even wearable. We laugh about how bad it was now but she had a few sleepless nights over it.

If you can stand silver-grey instead of sage

Lindy Bop are also great quality and well-sized. The vintage theme means that you can find a lot of sleeves and flared skirts:

Similar style to yours, but beige/dusty pink
Same style as above, but in deep deep green
Olive green
Emerald green

Might be a bit pale but the bottom one comes in the short version that you liked from DP

My jj’s House dresses are AMAZING. Beautiful. Had one for a very prestigious red-carpet event and felt the best. The other was as a bridesmaid - the dress wasn’t picked by me so not my favourite but very well made. And I swapped the zip back for lacing so it grew with me through the evening!! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

CallMeOnMyCell · 29/01/2019 15:10

Probably a silly question but have you checked Debenhams and HoF for the Dorothy Perkins dress?

BeanTownNancy · 29/01/2019 15:16

Amazon are pretty good for dresses. Got my MOH dress for £25

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B008CV633C?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title&tag=mumsnetforum-21

Also bought my wedding dress from JJSHouse - under £150 for the dress, veil, hoop skirt, wrap etc, made to measure, delivered to my house. It was lovely.

The DP dress is online only, so can't be found in stores annoyingly.

I have found this www.freemans.com/products/oasis-cape-back-pleat-skirt-skater-dress/_/A-99G883_14

I will pop into an Oasis to check out the colour in person before I get them but it is looking good for now.

Also it wasn't my idea to ask BMs to chip in, and I haven't asked so don't give me a hard time for it. But as an aside I don't actually think it is "beyond cheeky" as all three offered to buy them outright when I first asked them. I would dread to be some peoples mates from this site IRL.

@kaboomba - I adore those Maya dresses, looked at them a few times but sadly they don't have the sizes I need!

Have also considered separates tulle skirts and a beaded or lace top.

Dark green, lacy, sleeves, in budget, in stock in the sizes you need?

BMW6 · 29/01/2019 15:39

I've made several BM dresses in my time. Most patterns are easy to adapt sleeve styles and lengths to suit each individual.
Much easier to get the colour and style you like rather than buy ready to wear.

www.eshakti.com/Shop/Solid-Dresses#sp=33-ep=64-pr=-col=Green-fab=-sorting=Topsellers-promotion=

On this site, you can customize any of the dresses, including adding sleeves.

Pieceofpurplesky · 29/01/2019 15:55

@HairsprayBabe That freeman's dress
Is beautiful. I am a bigger size and would be happy to wear that

MoHunter · 29/01/2019 18:07

When I looked with my MOH we went I to David’s Bridal and they had ONE bridesmaid dress style with sleeves. This could be ordered in any colour (lots of choice). We didn’t go with it as they didn’t have one in store to try on though. But may be an option?
