About bridesmaid dresses (BTW I know I am not)

Ok so I may have been a bit clickbaity but I am getting so frustrated.

3 adult bridesmaids, we are paying for the dresses budget of £80 each. One size 8 petite, 2 size 16/18s.

All I want is sage green dresses with sleeves (don't mind if they are 1/2 full length or 3/4), all bridesmaids happy with the style. I am basically totally flexible on length and on embellishments...

I can't find anything anywhere with sleeves. They don't exist! I am getting married in October I don't want freezing cold blue bridesmaids! Plus the two bigger girls are conscious of their arms.

Also I don't know if I can trust janky sites like jjs house or bliss extra. I have already checked johnlewis, coast, phase eight, Dorothy Perkins, monsoon etc.

Please help me! Where did you get your bridesmaid dresses from?

AIBU in thinking that there should be somewhere I can get these dresses from or am I being picky and unreasonable?

How about buying three of the DP dresses in size 18 for £40 each.

That would leave you with £120 from your budget to get them remade to fit.

Found this one from www.lulus.com

Please buy the original DP ones. They’re lovely and none of the others are even close.

The 18s into 16ishes wouldn’t be hard. The 18 into an 8 would involve the whole dress being recut but a decent dressmaker would be able to do that for you.

Clueing4looks · 31/01/2019 10:30

When I was struggling with BM dresses to match our colour scheme, I bought white dresses and dyed them the colour we wanted

Glitterblue · 31/01/2019 11:40

Mine were from Debenhams, also when I was a bridesmaid it was Debenhams. They came with things in the same material as the dresses, to drape over the shoulders. I was a bridesmaid in October and I was OK with that.

SnappedandFartedagain · 31/01/2019 11:48

Definitely do buy 3 of your dream DP dresses and have them professionally altered to fit. You will probably only need to alter one or two of them.

PutsFootInIt · 31/01/2019 12:31

Not sure if this has been suggested already but you could buy the DP dresses and have them taken in? If you use the same seamstress for you wedding dress they might give you a good deal. You could also use the leftover fabric as ties for bouquets and pocket squares for groomsmen to tie everything into the colour scheme? And hairbands for flower girls if you are having them

PutsFootInIt · 31/01/2019 12:32

Oh last post suggested it Blush

suzy2b · 31/01/2019 13:01

JocastaElastic · 31/01/2019 14:47

Ghost will dye their bridesmaids’ dresses any colour you like.

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/01/2019 14:53

I was a bridesmaid in January when I was 18, we wore long-sleeved blouses and skirts from Dorothy Perkins. Are you dead set on dresses?

Hairspray Babe she's right sweetie Smile

MumOfOne92 · 01/02/2019 08:12

The DP dress she wanted is now sold out - hopefully its the OP who picked them up!

BHStowel · 01/02/2019 19:30

I was worried that someone else would buy them before the OP did too. I hope it was the OP.

Mrsmadevans · 01/02/2019 19:38

Oh God me too l really hope she had them , fingers crossed they were lovely

Deerstalker · 06/02/2019 23:09

I’d go to eBay for monsoon dresses - very easy to sell on after the wedding as superb quality and the fit flatters all sizes 8-22

Flurry bolero for over the top, cream is most flattering

Drogosnextwife · 06/02/2019 23:22

I'm sure someone will have already suggested this but could you buy white or cream dresses and dye them?

Suze1621 · 07/02/2019 10:22

Could they wear wraps in a coordinating colour?
As a wedding photographer I've found that wraps can be a lovely contrast and very forgiving in terms of upper arms etc
