Just about to take dd to drama classes at the library, I have a book to collect from library wondering if I'm brave enough to go to w'spoons with the book and read for an hour while I wait for dd to finish her class, the library closes at 7 the drama class is 7-8 Would you think it was odd if you saw someone alone in Wetherspoons? The car park I'll park up in is in the middle of the library and w'spoons

I’ve done it loads of times!

pumpkinpie01 · 21/01/2019 18:28

I quite often see people in our local spoons on their own, enjoy an hour to yourself

AGHHHH · 21/01/2019 18:28

Yes I have loads of times.

TheGirlWithGlassFeet · 21/01/2019 18:28

No I've done it before it's fine. Better to be inside with a bit of bustle going on.

IchWill · 21/01/2019 18:29

I would / have. It's lovely and relaxing.

JenniferJareau · 21/01/2019 18:29

Yes. Would not be a problem for me. I wouldn't think twice if someone was on their own but then again I usually don't people watch at pubs so the fact you are on your own wouldn't really register with me Grin

Yes I go in and have coffee quite often.

Magenta82 · 21/01/2019 18:29

I have sat in 'spoons with a book more than once, I wouldn't see it as any different to sitting in a coffee shop, or in fact a library, alone.

Bombardier25966 · 21/01/2019 18:29

Nothing odd about going to the pub on your own, but is there anywhere nicer than Wetherspoons nearby?

RayRayBidet · 21/01/2019 18:30

@Bombardier25966
I agree. Somewhere nicer than spoons.

HRTpatch · 21/01/2019 18:31

I wouldnt go in Wetherspoons but regularly go in bars/pubs alone.

SwedishEdith · 21/01/2019 18:32

I'd have no problem sitting in a pub alone but I'd find somewhere nicer.

Meangirls36 · 21/01/2019 18:32

Wetherspoons during the day early evening nice and relaxing at night its very rowdy

Sparklesocks · 21/01/2019 18:32

Yes, if you download the app you can get food/drink delivered to your table in most branches so don’t even have to worry about getting up to go to the bar.

Pommes · 21/01/2019 18:32

Free coffee refills, yes please!

Witchofzog · 21/01/2019 18:33

I would and have done a few times. They do unlimited coffee or you can get a jacket potato salad and soft drink for less than a fiver.

veggiepigsinpastryblankets · 21/01/2019 18:35

I probably wouldn't on a Saturday night but 6.30 on a Monday it'll be lovely and quiet. Plus you can order without getting up and have a cheeky pudding with your drink.

Our local one has a wood burner and lovely comfy armchairs. Hope it's the same at yours.

lljkk · 21/01/2019 18:35

I'm too angry at Tim Martin (about Brexit) to set foot in a W'spoons.
Would I go to another pub or cafe by myself: sure. No problem.

Given their stance on Brexit I'm never entering another Wetherspoons in my life, alone or with anyone else.

OxanaVorontsova · 21/01/2019 18:36

No, but I wouldn't go in company either!

Tigger03 · 21/01/2019 18:36

I would definitely! Don’t over think it, just get a drink and read your book, no one will pay any attention.
