Just about to take dd to drama classes at the library, I have a book to collect from library wondering if I'm brave enough to go to w'spoons with the book and read for an hour while I wait for dd to finish her class, the library closes at 7 the drama class is 7-8 Would you think it was odd if you saw someone alone in Wetherspoons? The car park I'll park up in is in the middle of the library and w'spoons

Several have beaten me to it, but I would have done before Tim Martin started his Brexit campaign. Won't go in one anymore at all.
I am happy to go into a pub on my own, although for some reason feel happier in one that serves meals.

BitOutOfPractice · 21/01/2019 22:42

I wonder if you all know the brexit views if the CEO of every company?

BitOutOfPractice · 21/01/2019 22:44

Eg next, dyson, legal & general

Urwotu8t · 21/01/2019 22:46

If the CEO plastered their opinions all over their business premises, yes, we would.

Jayfee · 21/01/2019 22:49

Wetherspoons are often in lovely historic buildings. The coffee is OK, nothing special, but you get free refills.

freezinguplands · 21/01/2019 22:56

I've been in before by myself, I wouldn't choose to now as I don't want to give them any of my money.
To be fair I wouldn't be buying a dyson either.
But going alone into a chain pub I would do.

WhatNow40 · 21/01/2019 23:39

I'm happy to sit for an hour or so with a cup of tea and free refills. I've never bagged a sofa though, think the mums and babies gang would slit my throat for taking over their space!!

user1497787065 · 22/01/2019 01:43

I've never been to a Weatherspoons. Think I would find somewhere nicer with table service.

Villainess · 22/01/2019 01:46

No because Tim Martin is knuckle dragging pond life.

Not because I'd be nervous of being on my own in a pub though.

OrangeJellySpread · 22/01/2019 03:14

I find people who think they have to be seen with others rather sad. I enjoy my solitude sometimes. Doesnt mean I am Billy No Mates.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 22/01/2019 04:16

This is 2019 not 1850 so who on earth wouldn't you? This threads just baffle me, but then I am turning into a grumpy old woman.

Bloodybridget · 22/01/2019 04:30

But is the OP's (presumed) anxiety re going on her own just about social mores, "women don't sit in pubs alone", or because she thinks she might be harrassed? First case unreasonable, second maybe reasonable.

MadameGerbil · 22/01/2019 04:56

I dislike TM's stance on Brexit so I just spend a lot of time in the local spoons occupying space reading the paper, using the free Wi-Fi and drinking coffee refills & tap water- that 'll learn him!😆

Zoflorabore · 22/01/2019 05:06

Have been alone to Spoons for my breakfast several times. Doesn't bother me at all :)

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 22/01/2019 06:23

Judging by my local Spoons (SW la di dah London) being on your own in there is the ONLY way to be.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 22/01/2019 10:37

No, my local Weatherspoons is grim. Full of unkempt blokes drinking strong lager at 10am. I’d rather sit in a coffee shop.

randomuserhere · 22/01/2019 10:38

Yes.. why not? Nothing wrong with it

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/01/2019 10:39

Many students of them are fine for this, I know a few that are too full of men drinking to be comfortable on my own but not many. Enjoy

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/01/2019 10:41

Student - where did autocorrect get that from??
