Just about to take dd to drama classes at the library, I have a book to collect from library wondering if I'm brave enough to go to w'spoons with the book and read for an hour while I wait for dd to finish her class, the library closes at 7 the drama class is 7-8 Would you think it was odd if you saw someone alone in Wetherspoons? The car park I'll park up in is in the middle of the library and w'spoons

I'd be happy to go in anywhere alone. I don't understand needing an escort for a pub or restaurant.

Sarahandduck18 · 21/01/2019 18:37

Yes

ButtMuncher · 21/01/2019 18:38

I've never had a problem going into pubs and restaurants on my own. I quite enjoy it Grin And is a bloody rarity now with kids Grin

ElliePhillips · 21/01/2019 18:38

Same as lljkk the only reason I wouldn't go to Weatherspoons is because I wouldn't want to give money to Tim Martin. But, that's not why you are asking OP. Sorry, unhelpful I know.

Skippii · 21/01/2019 18:38

Their app is really handy for ordering for/drinks to the table when on your own.

Skippii · 21/01/2019 18:39

Ordering food/drinks that should read

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 21/01/2019 18:39

Course!

It’s not Aleppo

GlitterStick · 21/01/2019 18:41

Yes, and have done loads of times. Why on earth wouldn't you?

KennDodd · 21/01/2019 18:42

No Wetherspoons is shit and I hate Tim Martin.

GerrysSuccessor · 21/01/2019 18:44

If I saw someone in a pub reading a book...

I would mostly be insanely jealous

notacooldad · 21/01/2019 18:44

Yes, and I do.

Ultramic · 21/01/2019 18:46

Why so much hate for Tim Martin?

Urwotu8t · 21/01/2019 18:47

I used to go there with a book as it was cheap coffee and free refills, but don't anymore because of Tim Martin. I'd rather pay more for less than give him my money.

GlitterStick · 21/01/2019 18:48

@Ultramic I'm guessing because he supports Brexit so it's a sulk/protest thang Grin

ALongHardWinter · 21/01/2019 18:49

Yes, I've gone in my local Wetherspoons alone quite a few times to have something to eat. I try to go during off peak times though,to ensure that I can get a decent table.

Diamondangel8 · 21/01/2019 18:50

I thought the same as you. I thought wonder if I'll be ok to have a drink in a bar while I wait for my train. I had my phone charging, headphones in and within 5 minutes I had a stinky old man sitting me to me chatting me up. it seems a woman on her own is asking for trouble!

Urwotu8t · 21/01/2019 18:50

Yes, Brexit. And if it's sulking, #proudtobeasulker

Although I will go in to use their toilets.

DollyWilde · 21/01/2019 18:52

I go to the pub alone sometimes, I like hanging out with a book and a glass of red of a Sunday afternoon. I wouldn’t go to my local Spoons alone but that’s only because I live in a town with 4 pubs, of which 3 are lovely and the spoons attracts all the old men who would likely hassle me. The other pubs are much nicer. But a pub in itself - no problem at all!

starfishmummy · 21/01/2019 18:53

Think it depends on the Wetherspoons. I'd go into the nearest one to me on my own, but there's another one I wouldn't want to go in even if so was in a crowd.

DollyWilde · 21/01/2019 18:55

Sorry that sounds very odd Blush I mean I have been in there and had questions as to why I’m there alone. Not an unbroken vein among the clientele. But I’m aware that’s just my local!

derxa · 21/01/2019 18:56

I've done it

SillySallySingsSongs · 21/01/2019 18:57

Absolutely. Why not?

SarahET · 21/01/2019 18:57

I wouldn't think it was strange at all. Get a coffee or a drink and relax with your book. Who cares what a load of strangers may or may not think anyway.
