To think you don’t bloody sneeze in public?Probably get flamed for this but I absolutely detest people sneezing openly in public. It spreads germs and it’s NOT THAT HARD to internally sneeze as in like hold yourself back when you sneeze!

What about you hygiene pet peeves?

Another one is LICKING THE SUPERMARKET BAGS....why?! Why would I want you to slurp on your finger and then use your saliva to lubricate my bag and then continue to put my fresh produce into said bag. EW EW EW.

PS. Don’t say people can’t help sneezing, because unless you are challenged in someway , you ABSOLUTELY can.

Then he remembered reading about a case in which digital rectal massage – inserting a finger into a patient’s anus – had slowed a racing heartbeat, an effect similar to runaway hiccups

Be sure to wash your hands afterwards or use the crook of your arm Grin

kissprudencekeith · 11/01/2019 11:53

'Internal' sneezing is, as others have said, potentially very dangerous. It happened to me. Ended up in hospital. Just do it into a tissue or the crook of your elbow.

PickAChew · 11/01/2019 11:53

I’m amazed that there are still some ladies who don’t do a hover-wee.

My knees are knackered and I sometimes need to use the cubicles with support bars just to be able to sit down, so hovering is out of the question for me. Thanks to ladies who hover, I almost always have to dry the seat first.

PookieDo · 11/01/2019 11:53

*infection control

Just leaving this here regarding the hygiene hypothesis:

Amimissingsomethinghere · 11/01/2019 11:53

I still argue you can sneeze internally without snot and germs spraying all over the joint!!! You close your mouth and just sneeze - try it!!!!!!!

And some people are immune compromised - think of those people maybe?! Some poor people have to be SUPER careful when near anyone who is sneezing or coughing, perhaps spare a thought for them??

Seriously, it grates me how rude people can be. Yes and maybe I am one of those people that don’t poo in public loos. So what??????

And re the plastic bags - it’s Waitrose. And I DO reuse bags but sometimes I forget like any other human and need to buy some.

This thread just proves that people don’t care and are generally pretty gross.
Confused

@WhirlieGig - I hate it that people hover wee - it means that they piss all over the toilet seat leaving a manky mess for the next person.

Yabbers · 11/01/2019 11:55

I can sneeze quietly but it hurts so I rarely do it.

My only real hygiene pet peeve is spitting.🤢

GlomOfNit · 11/01/2019 11:56

If you're a Hover Wee-er, PLEASE pleaseplease wipe the sodding seat afterwards! The reason why you probably think you need to Hover Wee is because some other germophobe just did the same thing before you and pissed all over the seat. Angry People need to chill the hell out. We are a communal species, we really need to be able to cope with this sort of thing.

And I'm one of those who, if I attempted to stifle a sneeze, would almost certainly turn my fucking uterus inside-out. Sod that.

Lweji · 11/01/2019 11:56

OP, do you kiss your OH with your mouth?

Sparklingbrook · 11/01/2019 11:56

Better get some Bags for Life lined up OP.

redyawn · 11/01/2019 11:56

YABVVU. If you need to sneeze, you need to sneeze. Cover up your mouth, use a tissue and try to avoid sneezing in anyone else's directions it's often nothing to do with illness anyway. I sneeze daily. I don't know why. Perhaps dust.

Bluntness100 · 11/01/2019 11:56

I guess you are opening all the doors on the way with your sneezed on hand?

Well many people have two hands and you don't need to sneeze into both of them.

Op. I'm unsure if it's your posting style but you come across as very angry, is there a reason you're so het up?

Lweji · 11/01/2019 11:56

Or no tongues?

Andjustlikethat · 11/01/2019 11:57

Ami I'm immunosupressed and yet I stand by the fact internal sneezing is ridiculous to be an expected 'thing'.

PookieDo · 11/01/2019 11:57

People aren’t being gross they are being sensible and rational

-You should sneeze into your own clothes if you don’t have a tissue to stop the spread to others
-Hovering to wee causes more problems and risks than sitting down

EwItsAHooman · 11/01/2019 11:58

Seriously, it grates me how rude people can be. Yes and maybe I am one of those people that don’t poo in public loos.

You have a really fucked up view of what is and isn't rude.

Were you hugged enough as a child...?

LoniceraJaponica · 11/01/2019 11:59

I can't believe how precious some people are Hmm

I, and most other people, find it physically impossible to hold in a sneeze. I sneeze into a tissue or into my elbow if I can't get to a tissue in time. Also, it is very bad for you to internalize a sneeze
Article here

and here

If you can't bear seeing or hearing people sneezing in public can I suggest that you stay at home during the cold/flu/hayfever seasons and do your shopping online Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 11/01/2019 11:59

Sneeze into hand, remember which hand. Get up immediately from desk and go straight to toilet to wash infected hand while remembering which hand is which. Got it!

Or sneeze into a tissue, elbow and get on with some work.

cantfindname · 11/01/2019 11:59

I believe it was Prince Philip who detached the retina from his eye by 'internally sneezing' It's very bad for you.. answer is simple, cover your mouth!

NutElla5x · 11/01/2019 12:00

PS. Don’t say people can’t help sneezing, because unless you are challenged in someway , you ABSOLUTELY can.
I must be challenged then. If I have to sneeze I'll bloody well sneeze.I will however turn away from people and cup my hands over my face just like I do when I cough. As for licking bags, who the fuck does that?

ragmayo · 11/01/2019 12:00

I have allergies, I always have tissues with me and will sneeze into them. But you are ridiculous thinking that people can hold them in or 'internally' sneeze. By the way I agree sneezing without tissue is gross!

user1andonly · 11/01/2019 12:00

There is a shop near me where one of the checkout operators licks his finger before opening your bag.

I usually have my own bags but, if not, I avoid using his till even if it means walking round slowly and/or approaching the tills from the opposite direction so it's not obvious I am avoiding him (British reserve haha!)

Amimissingsomethinghere · 11/01/2019 12:02

Hugged loads as a child
I do kiss my husband on the mouth.

Grin

He sneezes out loud and I loathe him for it and I tell him he’s rude.

I’m not angry I’m just sick of travelling on the tube etc with people sharing their germs!
