To think this is really unhygienic ?!

To think you don’t bloody sneeze in public?Probably get flamed for this but I absolutely detest people sneezing openly in public. It spreads germs and it’s NOT THAT HARD to internally sneeze as in like hold yourself back when you sneeze!

What about you hygiene pet peeves?

Another one is LICKING THE SUPERMARKET BAGS....why?! Why would I want you to slurp on your finger and then use your saliva to lubricate my bag and then continue to put my fresh produce into said bag. EW EW EW.

PS. Don’t say people can’t help sneezing, because unless you are challenged in someway , you ABSOLUTELY can.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 11/01/2019 11:18

I agree OP. Mine is; runners who spit - it's gross and totally un-necessary.

LaurieMarlow · 11/01/2019 11:19

it might be, but it will be a heck of a lot longer till you can launder your clothes normally

But your hand touches everything you come into contact with.

Whereas there's no reason to go wiping you clothes against surfaces, doors, other people and so on.

Sparklingbrook · 11/01/2019 11:19

I shudder more at buffets/self serve bakeries when people don't use the tongs/cutlery provided. (Sometimes though even the tongs look yuk)
Pizza Hut salad bars and pick n mix. Ewww. Bet they have been sneezing into their hands too.

IrmaFayLear · 11/01/2019 11:19

If you have to sneeze, you have to sneeze. BUT people who let out giant WHOOOSHOOOOOOs with much gusto in a public place really annoy me. Disgusting behaviour. In fact I did tell a man off the other week Blush and said in my most schoolmarmish voice, "There was no need to make that horrendous noise!" I hope he was chastened and will in future moderate his sneezes... some hope!

Cantdorightfromwrong · 11/01/2019 11:20

someone I know popped a lung by holding in a sneeze (internally sneezing), wouldn't recommend.

Cantdorightfromwrong · 11/01/2019 11:21

But... spitting in public. Nothing like seeing a blob of grolly sitting on the pavement

PookieDo · 11/01/2019 11:21

If you have no tissue you either sneeze in your hand or your clothes

Sneezing into your clothes isn’t about being less disgusting it’s much safer from an infection POV!

Sneezing into hand when you can’t wash the hand, ie a tube station then means you touch all kinds of things before you wash it.

If you sneeze into your elbow of our jumper your elbow of your jumper isn’t going to be touching anything except you until you take it off.

DancingWithMyself · 11/01/2019 11:22

I can't help a sneeze, but I sneeze into my elbow like a normal person. No sneezing onto anybody.

AdobeWanKenobi · 11/01/2019 11:22

I'm not really bothered by germs normally, but went into a local pie shop the other week, there was a bit of a queue in there. As I stood I watched the woman on the till take money with bare hands, walk across to the ovens, retrieve a pie, still with bare hands, drop it in the bag and hand it to customer. She repeated this several times.

For some reason I was the only person bothered by this. I did question at the time whether leaving my purchase was a bit OTT but no, it is disgusting and I emailed the management chain later that night.

partypooper40 · 11/01/2019 11:22

Are some of these joke responses? I'm not entirely sure. How on earth do you expect people to hold in a sneeze? For the medical reasons given above it is a very bad idea! Good grief.

Sparklingbrook · 11/01/2019 11:23

I was in a supermarket car park once and a bloke did an enoprmous luminous green spit and it landed on someone's car bonnet. Sad

ShadyLady53 · 11/01/2019 11:23

Omg OP YANBU! I’ve got neutropenia and have been too ill to leave the house following catching some member of the public’s germs for a month. I went out for the first time yesterday and was sick to death of having to stay away from people, clearly infectious, coughing and sneezing repeatedly all over the place. In bloody TK Maxx so hardly somewhere you need to be when full of a cold or chest infection.

I cannot stand people who think it’s perfectly fine to sneeze or cough out into the open air, it’s the height of ignorance and bad manners. We don’t want your germs ok?!

You are supposed to prevent the spread of illness by sneezing into a tissue and coughing into the crook of your arm. If you have an infectious illness and you “can’t help” but cough or sneeze out into the air and on to members of the public then don’t go out until you’ve learned.

Did people’s parents or teachers not teach people to cover their mouths growing up?

Oh you would hate me. I love doing great big dramatic attention seeking sneezesGrin

Sitranced · 11/01/2019 11:24

Is it fuck easy to hold back a sneeze. Its a reflex, one that keeps us alive.

dinkystinky · 11/01/2019 11:25

Its impossible to stop a sneeze - you can minimise it if you wish but really thats up to you, not obligatory for all to do and it can be quite painful to do - it is polite to cover your mouth when you sneeze though.

Licking supermarket bags - who on earth does that??

HildaSnibbs · 11/01/2019 11:25

A doctor told me to cough or sneeze into your elbow rather than your hand, if you don't have a tissue, as someone else said above your hands will spread the germs everywhere but you rarely rub your inner elbow over people/door handles etc. I hope.

"Internal sneezing" !! OP this thread has made my day, I love that people are going around really annoyed by something they think is basic and obvious but most of us have never even heard of, I'm sure I do it too, if only we really knew what was going on in other people's heads Grin

Tinkobell · 11/01/2019 11:25

If I internally sneezed OP, I'd piss my pants given the flimsy pelvic floor. However, I completely take your point about openly spraying germs over everyone - it's so vile! A man did this on a plane over my whole family 3 weeks back - no hanky, no effort to cover. I was fuming and we did all catch his filthy headcold. Felt v angry as DH was regularly visiting his immune compromised father who was dying of cancer. It's just basic human courtesy but some people are complete oiks aren't they.

missmouse101 · 11/01/2019 11:27

Ffs! The licking bags thing is when people lick their fingers to take a bag. Hmm

RandomObject · 11/01/2019 11:28

How have I gone three decades without knowing that there are people who hold in sneezes?

Just carry some bloody hand gel.

WhirlieGigg · 11/01/2019 11:28

Licking envelopes grosses me out. I don’t want to touch something that someone else has sealed with their herpes ridden saliva. Use a self adhesive envelope ffs! I hate opening sealed cards and try to avoid touching the flap.

domton · 11/01/2019 11:29

I can stifle little sneezes.

OP, I'll do a deal with you, I'll stifle big huge meaningful sneezes if you keep your fingers crossed each time that my bladder is not ging to synchronise with the sneeze. It usually does, but if you'd rather risk a urine splash than me catching a sneeze in a tissue that's your perogative.

Seriously, in the summer I wouldn't be advice to leave the house without 5 changes of clothes if I had to restrain my sneezes :)

TinklyLittleLaugh · 11/01/2019 11:29

Bloody hell, I've internally sneezed when necessary all my life. Fortunately my eyeballs, lungs and throats are still miraculously intact. I won't be doing it again though.

And yeas Barbara I am one of those cast iron bladdered people who like to wee at home.

WhirlieGigg · 11/01/2019 11:30

Sitting on public toilets is gross too. I much prefer the Asian style squat toilets where you don’t touch anything. I’m amazed that there are still some ladies who don’t do a hover-wee.

TrackerBar · 11/01/2019 11:30

2) What kind of supermarket do you visit where there's folk licking bags?

Snorrrrrttttttt!!!!! Grin Grin Grin
