I’m just doing my budget for January and wondering if most people will be skint in January or do you budget and it’s not a problem?

Nope. Thank god.

scaryteacher · 28/12/2018 22:35

We won't be skint in January, first time for a long time.

PumpkinPie2016 · 28/12/2018 22:35

No, thank goodness!

Propertywoe · 28/12/2018 22:36

Luckily not skint, but will be having a cheap month to make up for what has been spent.

AfterSchoolWorry · 28/12/2018 22:36

Yes. Big-time.

HollyandIvyarelivingitupagain · 28/12/2018 22:37

No,put my early pay into a seperate account until Monday.
I alwats try to pay from my current account for Christmas so no nasty credit card bill either.

Youmadorwhat · 28/12/2018 22:37

Just got paid today surprisingly so no thank god!!

GobblersKnob · 28/12/2018 22:37

No, but it will be for the first time in about 15 years.

Nicknacky · 28/12/2018 22:38

Not particularly. Had bought most things before my Christmas Eve pay and had some overtime in it. I’ve got a big pay due end of jan though.

EmpressJewel · 28/12/2018 22:39

January isn’t normally too bad for us. I spread the cost of Christmas through the rest of the year, plus I avoid the sales (there are regular sales now anyway).

VenusClapTrap · 28/12/2018 22:39

No.

Smeghead90 · 28/12/2018 22:40

Yep waiting for a UC dispute to be rectified so i cant pay my rent literally not a penny to my name til monday. Even then havent got the money to pay the rent Sad trying to look on the bright side if there is one Hmm

Reythelastjedi · 28/12/2018 22:40

Yes. But expected so just having a quiet month.

JaceLancs · 28/12/2018 22:40

No different to usual
I fund Xmas via eBay sales
I never have much spare cash as I work for a charity and am lone parent/main wage earner

housewifeoflittleitaly · 28/12/2018 22:41

Nope, we don’t get into dept for Christmas and I’ve always been a great saver. I fully appreciate it’s not the same for everyone & lots of homes are struggling financially.

birdiewoof · 28/12/2018 22:41

We are skint every month

SparkleBanana · 28/12/2018 22:41

Not skint exactly but got a budget and some goals to stick to. Didn’t realise my last maternity pay was November Confused and maternity leave doesn’t end till early Jan so got to be careful.

Freco010 · 28/12/2018 22:41

Smeghead90 I’m sorry to hear that, sounds such a worry Sad

Longdistance · 28/12/2018 22:42

Well, I was having a moan at not being paid early in December as all the companies I’ve worked for paid me before Christmas. I won’t get paid until Monday now, but actually I’m starting to think it’s a good thing as I won’t be short.

TeeBee · 28/12/2018 22:42

Nope, I'm self employed and have a large financial cushion, which ensures I'm never skint. It's the only way I don't get anxious.

Soconfusedbylife · 28/12/2018 22:42

Yes. Skint most months but January is expensive with birthdays for us so very very skint!

Sirzy · 28/12/2018 22:42

No, but I may need to steal some of the money I put into the holiday account as child tax going in early messes with my figures so I think I sent too much over!

cardibach · 28/12/2018 22:42

January will be ok. I may be a bit skint in February when 8 have to pay the credit card bill for December though...

MerryChristmasArthur · 28/12/2018 22:43

Yep but that's only because I'm buying my dd a car (tax & ins) and driving lessons for her birthday in January. I need her to be driving ASAP so she can help out with her younger disabled sister and driving is a must. February will be back to normal thankfully.

Freco010 · 28/12/2018 22:43

I feel like January is the month for tightening the belt whether money is tight or not really. After a spendy December it’s good to lay low!
