To wonder about a few things with the LGW drone attack

Before I get flamed (and not that anyone will resist flaming if they want to anyway). I know-

-It's not that easy
-Safety First
-People are doing their best

But I can't help wondering and idly speculating about why -

We apparently don't have any counter measures for this.
It can go on so long
We aren't seeing any News footage of the drone(s)

I am 100% NOT a conspiracy theorist but I am very curious about exactly what is going on.

Maybe it’s been one of these mass hysteria things where once one was reported, lots of people mistook other flying objects for drones.

Either that or it was aliens. Grin

That was in response to compensation from the police. I don't think they should get any public money.

IF they were wrongfully arrested, why shouldn't they get public money? I'm not saying they were, but I really don't understand this view that it's somehow immoral to get compensation when your lives have been torn apart and you've been plastered all over the papers.

nickiredcar · 24/12/2018 19:38

Is there such a thing as a wrongful arrest?

Police arrest people all the time for investigation. They obviously had enough to question them. They weren't wrongfully charged or anything so no case for public money. The papers is another story all together though.

HelenaDove · 24/12/2018 19:54

their home was searched. If anything was damaged in the process the police should pay for it.

EffOrf · 24/12/2018 19:58

I imagine have your home searched would be like being burgled with everything turned out of cupboards and drawers, how awful for them

brizzledrizzle · 24/12/2018 20:29

I think the media should pay them compensation.

Mehrry · 24/12/2018 21:02

It's the media at fault.

nickiredcar · 24/12/2018 21:03

Yeah if the police damaged anything that should be paid for.

It's the mail and others that unnesisarry caused distress, it's them that will pay up if they chace it.

I met someone years ago who had experienced this (was living in a share house and a housemate turned out to be dealing drugs or something). In her case she said the police were really nice and friendly but they went through everything, underwear drawer, personal papers, everything was rifled through Sad

Is there such a thing as a wrongful arrest?

How hard is it to google it?

www.hudgellsolicitors.co.uk/news/civil-liberties/what-is-wrongful-arrest/

nickiredcar · 24/12/2018 22:29

Thsts not what I ment, but I know I said it badly sorry! But just because they were released without charge doesn't mean it was wrongful. They were held for 36 hours

canigetaliein · 25/12/2018 04:57

Why were the couple held for so long when the man had an alibi? definitely incompetence.

canigetaliein · 25/12/2018 05:03

I don’t remember seeing any actual footage of the drone bar one video that looked like a bird & said way back in the thread it was weird there was no footage.

Cora1942 · 26/12/2018 09:09

UFO maybe? Hense no photos etc. Billions of planets and we are the only one with 'intelligent' life? I dont thnk so. We are kept in the dark to protect or control us.

Buster72 · 26/12/2018 13:18

I can't see this arrest as unlawful. It's the media who went to town and should be made to pay, a minimum of 75k according to some lawyers....

ChesterGreySideboard · 26/12/2018 13:25

I agree that there is most likely intelligent life on other planets, however I doubt that life is going to build a space ship, and travel interstellar distances just to fuck about at a airport for a few days then go home again.

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 26/12/2018 14:23

When we were on holiday we saw a drone flying round the holiday park. It was early evening, so still light, though a bit cloudy. I took a pic on my phone and it was a little blurry red blob against the sky, despite it being so close.

So I would imagine anyone trying to take a photo at night with their phone is going to end up with the same shitty kind of photo that could be of anything!

dapplegrey · 27/12/2018 12:54

I hope that somebody like Branson offers them a fantastic New Years break on Necker
they deserve a proper destress after what they were put through

That would be a really nice thing to do.
What’s so frightening about these sort of heavily publicised arrests is the number of people who immediately believe they’re guilty - eg whiskey on this thread - and there’s no smoke without fire.
I wonder if that retired teacher from Bristol who was falsely accused of murder has ever completely got over his experience.
