To wonder about a few things with the LGW drone attack

Before I get flamed (and not that anyone will resist flaming if they want to anyway). I know-

-It's not that easy
-Safety First
-People are doing their best

But I can't help wondering and idly speculating about why -

We apparently don't have any counter measures for this.
It can go on so long
We aren't seeing any News footage of the drone(s)

I am 100% NOT a conspiracy theorist but I am very curious about exactly what is going on.

Facebook are cunts though.

I set mine to be private and unknown to me they had reset my privacy and made it all public.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 22/12/2018 23:52

FB seem to have removed their View As button which made it simpler to see at a glance exactly what was public Hmm

So, the drone used was guestimated to have cost around 5k. This couple are apparent amateurs with seemingly no motive. Let's just hope the authorities have a better understanding of how to tackle this in the future, as I can imagine a host of copycats will be wanting some fame too Hmm

nickiredcar · 22/12/2018 23:57

Their view as public feature was the hole that got loads of accounts hacked.

Several months later it's beyond a company that makes millions in profit every single day to write code to fix it.

New update, the parents of the male have spoke to the newspaper and also his ex girlfriend - worth a read

I find it strange so much has been mentioned about the man but nothing about the women

floribunda18 · 23/12/2018 02:54

It sounds like the police just found them on the internet and arrested them, desperate to collar anyone for this.

It sounds unlikely to have been them.

Bluntness100 · 23/12/2018 03:12

I would suspect it's more than they just found them on the internet and arrested them. You really can't go with what friends and neighbours speculate.

Augusta2012 · 23/12/2018 06:50

That’s because he’s the model aircraft enthusiast, not him.

You really can't go with what friends and neighbours speculate.

Well, yes, you can. Sometimes evidence from friends and family gets a guilty verdict and send people to jail.

I’d be amazed if he had anything direct to do with the crash. He has a solid alibi and has masses of people including an ex saying it can’t be him.

I think it’s much more likely he sold the drones which used in good faith.

SylvanianFamiliesNurserySet · 23/12/2018 06:57

It does seem unlikely doesn’t it augusta. I mean what’s your their motive?

What scares me though is that, guilty or innocent, we once again have people undergoing trial by media. It just shouldn’t be this way.

Jenasaurus · 23/12/2018 06:58

I seriously doubt Elaine was involved she mixes in my friend group and from what I know of her is a lovely caring person, and has no interest in drones, seriously wondering how they have come to the conclusion its them and why are their photos and names splashed over media when they haven't been found guilty?

GaryBaldbiscuit · 23/12/2018 08:05

what newspaper is it that the parents writing about the man?

InspectorIkmen · 23/12/2018 08:05

I agree it all seems a bit weird and unlikely but of course we never know what's going on that isn't being reported.
Has there been any drone activity over Gatwick since the arrest?

GaryBaldbiscuit · 23/12/2018 08:07

oh i read it.
perhaps it is his boss! He said he might have got the enthusiasm for drones from him.!

i wonder what will happen to them when/if they are released.

borntobequiet · 23/12/2018 08:19

They will sell their story for lots of money - and why not - and buy some new drones.

IamPickleRick · 23/12/2018 08:25

So the boss providing the alibi is his ex FIL and grandad to his first child. That’s interesting. And he’s an ex soldier. And someone on another thread said he was interviewed by the press whilst in the country lane and said he was bringing down the drone with his own drone? That doesn’t look quite so innocent. Just because the profile said the suspect would be educated to PhD level doesn’t mean they would need to be - they’d just need specialist knowledge which he might have gained over the years. The jury is out for me, they do look very nice people but who knows what info the police have got to have made an arrest?

dapplegrey · 23/12/2018 08:50

I agree. Those people, Leon Brittan, Gen Bramall etc, had their and their families’ lives ruined by one fantasist (who has now been unmasked) with his accusations all over the press for days.

Whisky2014 · 23/12/2018 09:28

Or maybe You dont know what she is like at all. She could have been driving his van with the drones in. She could have been well aware of what He was doing and remained complicit.

Actually the more I hear the more I think it is them.

nickiredcar · 23/12/2018 09:33

Shouldn't they have either been charged or released by now,?

GaryBaldbiscuit · 23/12/2018 09:34

I wonder if it is someone they know though

Whisky2014 · 23/12/2018 09:44

He has a solid alibi does he now? I hardly think his ex father in law claiming he was at work is a good alibi to be honest. Where are the other workmates he was supposed to be with..why haven't they said anything? Where's any cctv footage of him. Where was she?

nickiredcar · 23/12/2018 09:46

I doubt whoever did this was a drone enthusiastast, that would make no sense

GaryBaldbiscuit · 23/12/2018 09:47

do we know how many times the drone was up?

thefinn · 23/12/2018 09:51

I wonder if it is someone they know though

That's the only possibility I might believe in. Or just indeed them having sold their throne to the person/people who did this. Interesting to follow.

brizzledrizzle · 23/12/2018 09:52

From the point of view of it leading to increased controls on drones, I think you are right. However that assumes that they either don't care about that side of it - if they are prepared to do something like Gatwick then maybe they see it as a worthwhile price to pay - or they are stupid enough to not think it through; I think that's unlikely though given the scale and impact of what whoever did it has pulled off.

Whisky2014 · 23/12/2018 09:54

brizzledrizzle · 23/12/2018 10:02

From what I've read he was apparently putting his drone away having been using it to try and take down the drone causing the chaos.
