To wonder about a few things with the LGW drone attack

Before I get flamed (and not that anyone will resist flaming if they want to anyway). I know-

-It's not that easy
-Safety First
-People are doing their best

But I can't help wondering and idly speculating about why -

We apparently don't have any counter measures for this.
It can go on so long
We aren't seeing any News footage of the drone(s)

I am 100% NOT a conspiracy theorist but I am very curious about exactly what is going on.

Woah there. They've been arrested, not charged and of course not yet convicted.

I really, really hope the people responsible have been caught but... too early to tell.

So firm assertions the malefactor was a woman could end up looking nearly as silly as yesterday's assertions that it couldn't be.

ChesterGreySideboard · 22/12/2018 09:40

And we don’t know anything about them, even their location.

brizzledrizzle · 22/12/2018 09:41

I expected they carried on because they got carried away in the 'thrill' of the moment and their perceived 'success' went to their heads.

nickiredcar · 22/12/2018 09:41

Of course no convictions yet, but the assertions that it must be a man are always going to be ridiculous even if these aren't guilty and it was a man.

borntobequiet · 22/12/2018 10:09

My extensive reading of detective fiction informs me that person(s) arrested are not necessarily the perpetrator(s).

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 22/12/2018 10:18

My extensive watching of NCIS agrees with you. They may have had to fly under duress as their family had been kidnapped... or bribed, or offered vast fortunes.

Or be an undercover couple agents for another country dressed to look like normal eco warriors ..

So many options out there ;)

Anniegetyourgun · 22/12/2018 10:19

They only said a woman had been arrested, they didn't say she was doing the flying. I expect she was only brought along in the car to make the sandwiches Hmm

IamPickleRick · 22/12/2018 11:44

I never said it was a man. I said it was bastards. Which could still apply.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/12/2018 12:07

A 47-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, from Crawley, were arrested in the town at about 22:00 GMT on Friday.

So, assuming these are indeed the perpetrators, the sexists and the ageists (there was quite a bit of that too) all seem to be wrong.

'Middle aged couple pull incredibly antisocial high tech stunt'.

Terfing · 22/12/2018 12:31

But given how fluid today's definitions of "man" and "woman" are, we really can't build a picture or history based upon it. It would be easier if they told us the chromosomes of those arrested.

Puggles123 · 22/12/2018 12:37

Has anyone told the police it can’t possibly be a woman as they don’t do this kind of thing Hmm

HowlsMovingBungalow · 22/12/2018 12:40

She came along with the flask of tea.

brizzledrizzle · 22/12/2018 12:42

The woman must have been there to comfort her toy boy when he got too stressed, after all she can't have understood the technology.

Justaboy · 22/12/2018 13:06

Should just drop them off at the airport with a sign round their neck

There yer go! stick them in the stocks and plentry of rotten fruit around and quid a throw all proceeds to paying for that anti-drone equipment the airport authorties should have inveested in a while ago;!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/12/2018 13:28

I like that idea just

Probably more humane than issuing baseball bats

nickiredcar · 22/12/2018 13:47

Ooh they were older too. Another blow for all the ageist posters here!

Yeah bet the woman was just there to make a cuppa, these fancy flying boys toys things are just too complicated for the female brainGrin

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/12/2018 13:55

Best not say that to talkin nick Grin

Ta1kinpeace · 22/12/2018 14:35

Rufus
Why me ?
I'm a middle aged female who is married to a middle aged bloke who flies drones
it was not us by the way
I am not in the least surprised that it has turned out to be two Brits with three or less drones.
One drives / the other controls - simple

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/12/2018 14:52

Oopsie talkin

Thought you were the drone fan...apologies!

Ta1kinpeace · 22/12/2018 14:54
Xmas Grin Nah, I'm the bah humbug who pointed out that self charging drones are an impossibility and that drones only fly for a few minutes and that the most likely type of drone is readily available in the UK for under £1500
Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/12/2018 15:47

You were talking with such authority talkin that i was about to ring the police Xmas Grin

Ta1kinpeace · 22/12/2018 15:49

Tee hee
DH has been a member of the BMFA for many years and is rather geeky about all things that fly
and has owned several drones
so its something I'm better informed about than most Grin

Whisky2014 · 22/12/2018 16:40

So the arrested man boss says it can't have been him because he was working on site. He also said he got his hobby of flying things from him who has had this hobby for 49 years. He sounds complicit in it to me!

One neighbour said the guy had a drone so big it had to be put sideways Into a van.

Wordthe · 22/12/2018 16:56

I wonder if they really didnt realise that their actions would create an angry pitchforked mob who would bay for their blood...even if this happens 'only' metaphorically these 2 will have to go into hiding

drone enthusiasts will also want them (metaphorically) hung drawn and quartered for attracting massive unwanted attention which can only result in tighter legislation

brizzledrizzle · 22/12/2018 16:56

One neighbour said the guy had a drone so big it had to be put sideways Into a van.

Compensation for inadequacies in other areas perhaps?
