To wonder about a few things with the LGW drone attack

Before I get flamed (and not that anyone will resist flaming if they want to anyway). I know-

-It's not that easy
-Safety First
-People are doing their best

But I can't help wondering and idly speculating about why -

We apparently don't have any counter measures for this.
It can go on so long
We aren't seeing any News footage of the drone(s)

I am 100% NOT a conspiracy theorist but I am very curious about exactly what is going on.

Norwegian, I quite liked it.

The bust took twice as long as Newark but for those prices Edinburgh to New York you'd be crazy to say no

canigetaliein · 21/12/2018 22:06

defo a bargain!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/12/2018 22:16

Does anyone remember that Iceland volcano?

I ought to; I was stuck in Bangkok for an extra six days over that

Even before the ash cloud went up, it was the place I hated so much I'd have sat on the ruddy wing just to get out of there ...

nickiredcar · 21/12/2018 23:42

Aww Bangkok has some good parts I really like it, I'd rather be stuck there than Delhi and was!

jcyclops · 22/12/2018 00:56

£160 for Devon to Gatwick is ridiculously cheap. It's a full day's work and a 370 mile round trip. Insurance, maintenance and depreciation would be about £30/day and the fuel about £60 leaving about £70 for the driver which equates to a salary around £16,500.

Tiscold · 22/12/2018 05:37

Ooh two people arrested in connection.

And brace yourselves one was a man, guess who the other was? A WOMAN!.
Oh dear god save us....Grin

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 22/12/2018 06:37

I did think of MN when I saw one was a woman....

Are we going line wolf then?

ciderhouserules · 22/12/2018 07:29

The 'ashcloud' was the last time the place was so quiet - I have been told; I was stuck in Jo'burg for 10 days and it took a further 24 hours to get home, via Heathrow. Sad

RoseAndRose · 22/12/2018 07:36

The arrests do show up the scribbling on this thread for what it was.

But hey-ho women mustn't be silent, even when speculating ahead of facts.

brizzledrizzle · 22/12/2018 07:40

A woman?! Surely she should have been busy preparing for Christmas, after all woman are all pure and innocent all of the time and content to be a little lady in the kitchen.

Heartless bastards. They're going to have a great xmas.....

yup, a Couple!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/12/2018 08:46

Very glad they caught them!

nickiredcar · 22/12/2018 08:57

Oh a woman, but that can't be women are incapable of being malicious and would never do anything to stop this time of year for being special!Grin

Even if it hadn't of been a woman involved I'm glad we pulled up people on their shocking sexism here.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/12/2018 09:03

nicked

It was pretty much one poster who seemed to be talking as if it were fact

As opposed to others who were talking about probability

HowlsMovingBungalow · 22/12/2018 09:04

Why wasn't the woman doing christmassy things? Shock horror.

I'm glad they've arrested the twats.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 22/12/2018 09:07

Christmas on remand? Hohoho.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 22/12/2018 09:09

fekko

Should just drop them off at the airport with a sign round their neck

It says they are still investigating so maybe there are more arrests to come

charis · 22/12/2018 09:10

I accidentally called the woman thing yesterday when the man on the radio referred to "the bloke who is doing this". I muttered "everyday sexism" and went back to sleep.

nickiredcar · 22/12/2018 09:23

There was one poster saying it was impossible that it could be a women, then several saying it was almost certainly a man. Was way more than just suspecting a man by many people. Totallyng ignoring that environmentalists are men and women.

I think because it was technology people assumed it must be a man Hmm

HowlsMovingBungalow · 22/12/2018 09:26

Yup! Frothing about a man who couldn't get laid so took out all the christmas flights.

Home77 · 22/12/2018 09:28

Nothing much being said about it yet, wonder what the goal was? Environmental protesters perhaps?

StealthPolarBear · 22/12/2018 09:30

Yes I am looking forward to hearing the reasoning now

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 22/12/2018 09:35

So am I.

I am also laughing at the posts about how it couldn't be a woman because we are more concerned about making Christmas nice for everyone and couldn't possibly do anything cruel and selfish.

hmmhohmmm · 22/12/2018 09:36

Well hat eating later once its all come out

A man and a woman sounds like possibly a couple... like the couple who made bombs together and tested them in the back garden, forgotten the names

We still don't actually know much, do we? Will be interesting to find out the why

nickiredcar · 22/12/2018 09:37

It was a drone that costs almost 5k.

Pro level so wasn't just some kid opening a Christmas present early as so many suspected here.

Wonder why they were still in the area with a drone after the full force of UK authority were looking for them? Maybe if they had of just disappeared after shutting it down for 24 hours they would have got away. Seems like they really over egged it.
