Lots of people on Twitter raving about Meghan and Harry’s photo. I genuinely really like Harry and Meghan. Nothing against them whatsoever.

But I absolutely refuse to believe that i am alone in thinking their photo is so awkward looking!

She looks stunning and the background is amazing but it just looks weird! I think it’s the way he’s standing. It’s not elegant. It looks really odd to me.

Anyone else??

I like it. All the younger (and some middle aged) royals have a history of being innovative with their cards, like Kate with her own photos and Charles doing different things like a picnic shop or William and Harry popping out of two huge garden pots like Bill and Ben. They have access to the best photographers, so why not?

That staged photo of Charles, Diana and the boys was the idea of Lord Snowdon, the photographer. I saw an interview with him. He said he realises now it didn't work. He said he told Diana he wanted her to wear riding clothes (she didn't ride) and she was "very sweet" and bought some specially.

Funny how the responsibility is all laid at her door, isn't it?

I am sincerely grateful to Meghan for this make up tip that I will share with you.

I wear a light brown Mac shadow over my eyelids (sorry, I can't read the label so can't tell you the shade) with a darker brown Mac shadow called Brown Down in the socket and a Mac shade called Wheatsheaf, which is pale golden, as a highlighter and blend like crazy.

Eye pencil is probably L'Oreal or possibly Max Factor. The writing has smudged off but it is definitely called Pure Espresso.

I colour my brows with L'Oreal Brow Artist Xpert powder stick in brown and define with a Purminerals wax pencil in pink that I also splodge in the corner of my eyes for that 'pop' that beauty writers talk about.

Max Factor X Lash Crown mascara in black.

It looked okay but a bit flat. And then I saw pictures of Meghan and Kate on separate balconies overlooking the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.

They closed their eyes and Meg looked great. By contrast, Kate's make up looked, well frankly, just terrible.

I thought: 'That's the fucking secret. I need a mauve shadow in the centre of my lids just like Meghan's to lift that brown.'

I bought a Revlon Colorstay compact in four shades of mauve that I think was called Seductive and I've never looked back.

The thing is, both of them have brown eyes. I'm white, blue eyed and closer to Kate's skin tone but I prefer Meghan's style and I can adapt bits of her look to suit me. Is that racist?

Kate is so beautiful always, but looks so upset in that photo, it must be so stressful being watched a the time. I am definitely trying that eye shadow tip.

I get the feeling that a lot of people feel protective of Harry (understandable) and dont really trust Meghan yet, but hopefully in time everyone will grow to like her.

Diana was a very attractive tall slim blonde. She looked great in everything. The photo was still ridiculous.

Not demonised at all- Meghan on the other hand who since meeting Harry has behaved impeccably in spite of extreme provocation.

I remember at the time it came out that Lauren-style photo was widely mocked. People said that it looked like an advertisement, or as if Charles had forgotten to bring his change of clothes. Someone suggested that Diana had told him the wrong time so he was too late to change and would look ridiculous.......

Wasn’t that photo taken a year or so before the marriage ended? Diana really was beautiful.

I think the pres were a lot more respectful back then. There was apparently stuff about Prince Philip that could have been reported but wasn't.

That cennotauph stand off is typical DM. A terrible looking picture of Kate there 'innocently' reported on. Kate goes for a 'grown up look' but you're meant to read between the lines that she looks old and haggard.

Kate indeed does look tired a lot of the time. I guess three kids in five years will do that to you (yes I know she gets help). I don't think it helps that she's so thin. It's been said a million times but she looked better in her early twenties when she clearly weighed a bit more. (She reminds me of myself after having dc2 and going mad for the gym and dieting. I had a BMI of 18.5 at my lowest. I had a lovely figure but my face looked awful.) However I still think she's elegant and well dressed even if she's not adventurous.

But Kate cant be adventurous, i read there were rules about everything, even nail varnish colour!

I love her anyway and think she is getting even better looking with age. I have noticed that a bit lately, which has really lifted my heart, a good few women I know seem to be getting better looking as they get older.

I think Catherine is not ageing well when you consider that she can have the very best of everything. Maybe it's the pressure of being in that family???? She has beautiful hair though.

Kate and Pippa have looked older than their years since they turned 30. Apparently Kate's a smoker- don't know about Pippa. Meghan looks a lot younger than Kate.

Kate and Pippa are both fond of a tan too, which is never good for the skin. Add that to smoking and it's a recipe for looking old before your time.

Meghan has lovely skin and looks radiant. But she was an actress. She probably has a complicated routine involving expensive products and regular facials while the Middletons stick to Nivea!

Was it Lord Snowdon who took that terrible Ralph Lauren picture of Di sucking in her stomach or the campy Patrick Lichfield? It was shit, either way and neither of them could take photos for toffee

Too much dieting, tanning and smoking has aged the Middleton sisters; both look older than Meghan (was shocked Meghan was the oldest actually)

Speaking of tips, though (have to try that eye makeup one!), if you have short legs like Kate, tailor the waist higher to elongate the leg and wear nude heels. This was why she kept having “Marilyn” moments a few years back because of the specific tailoring of her clothes. Her natural waist would be lower than you’d expect, and this illusion works beautifully for long-waisted ladies.
