To think Harry and Meghan’s photo is odd looking?!

Just having a look at the royal family Christmas card pics. Very nice. Love William and Kate’s family pic. How sweet are those kids 😍

Lots of people on Twitter raving about Meghan and Harry’s photo. I genuinely really like Harry and Meghan. Nothing against them whatsoever.

But I absolutely refuse to believe that i am alone in thinking their photo is so awkward looking!

She looks stunning and the background is amazing but it just looks weird! I think it’s the way he’s standing. It’s not elegant. It looks really odd to me.

Anyone else??

naiceshoes you posted very late so I hope you’d been drinking or something as I would hate to think someone would be so very personally unpleasant as you were just because someone disagreed with you.

CarolDanvers · 18/12/2018 07:22

You are so pathetic. Pure jealously. You're the ones suffering. And Megan's enjoying her lovely life. Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of harming another; you end up getting burned. Anger because another is doing better than you in life. Keep hating 😂😂😂

This is utterly ridiculous. You sound about 14.

katekat383 · 18/12/2018 10:10

Seconded.

katekat383 · 18/12/2018 10:14

NaiceShoes

Nobody said it was cringe. probably not but only because the term is cringeworthy.

katekat383 · 18/12/2018 10:16

Anyway, Diana was in holiday in those pictures. She was not on an official Royal tour. 🙄

katekat383 · 18/12/2018 10:16

on

Becles · 18/12/2018 10:31

@katekat383 what EXACTLY was inappropriate or cringe worthy about the dress. Lots of allusion but not much substance in the muttering. Spell it out for the rest of us please.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 18/12/2018 10:38

IMO the slit is inappropriate on a royal tour. Fine if you are on a private event but not when representing the crown. However it’s not Meghan that is at fault, but her stylists. That’s the stylists job.

ViragoKnows · 18/12/2018 10:40

This reminds me of the huge thread occasioned by Kate executing a royal arse-flash 😏

Not really. She is an adult! Surely she is in a position to veto a particular item, if it is - as this one was - inappropriate for someone on a Royal tour. They were representing the Queen, after all.

And meanwhile Harry hasn't even met his father in law. I think the whole thing is disgraceful.

katekat383 · 18/12/2018 12:21

It’s horrendous for the RF. Whoever thought people would think this shambles was “normal”.

ViragoKnows · 18/12/2018 12:23

It’s a fabulous soap opera, that’s for sure. I’m a bit surprised none of these machiavlian courtiers have got a grip on the situation yet.

brizzledrizzle · 18/12/2018 12:23

In what way is that disgraceful? We don't know the real reason why and it's none of our business but there is going to be a very good reason why she doesn't want to isn't there?

moredoll · 18/12/2018 12:26

Well given the way his father in law behaves with the press I think it's completely understandable why he's estranged from his daughter.

He doesn't look or sound very well. I can't help contrast this situation with Diana. She had quite an up and down relationship with her father but he still walked her down the aisle after a stroke. I don't think Thomas Markle actually received a wedding invitation.

Becles · 18/12/2018 12:49

@derxa Since Thomas Markle was still in the wedding booklet as walking her down the aisle (as too late to reprint), it's safe to assume that he was expected in the run up to the big day.

I believe that some criticism of Meghan is fuelled by racism and entangled in that view of the Monarchy embodied by the kind of people who camp out on royal occasions dressed in Union Jack suits.

I don't know how much that is.

The belly-cupping gesture when she was making a speech the other day could have been done with an eye to a photo opportunity but it could also be a self-hug. It's a pretty standard tell in body language that we all do when feeling nervous of vulnerable. Who knows?

You could say Meghan is an actor and one who undoubtedly loves the limelight (not all of them do) but we've all seen actors go to pieces at the Oscars. It seems logical when giving a speech to clasp your hands in front of you to stop them waving around like they have minds of their own. If you have a baby bump, where are they going to go? And even if it was a photo opportunity, who cares? Is she supposed to look ugly and awkward just so we think she's genuine? So I'm going to let her off that one.

Princess Diana was fond of the photo opportunity and I laughed at her more shameless ones. But she was white and so am I so maybe I get a pass for that with some people on this thread.

But seemingly I'm not allowed to criticise Meghan. aconcertpianist has even said: 'could I suggest that we try to avoid being critical of people of colour full stop. After all, there are plenty of white people that we can gossip about!'

WTF!

I don't know what it's like to experience racism and I never will. I can try to understand the micro-aggressions that POC feel but I'll make no comment on that.

All I can say is that Meghan and Harry's Christmas card is funny and I reserve the right to laugh at it.

katekat383 · 18/12/2018 12:57

Hear hear.

limitedperiodonly · 18/12/2018 13:00

They were representing the Queen, after all.

I'm betting that as Meghan and Harry's tour was a wild success and gathered huge support for the British monarchy in a part of the Commonwealth that regularly talks about breaking away, the Queen would be pretty relaxed about a flash of Meghan's thigh.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 18/12/2018 13:04

Wasn't MM's father in hospital with a heart attack during her wedding?

Who knows what has gone on between MM and her father but it does seem to be very typical toxic 'family' bollocks from her half siblings.

The christmas card is a bit meh.

ViragoKnows · 18/12/2018 13:15

I’m sure there has been racist comment about Meghan. I saw one thread a few months ago that was swiss cheese by the time i read it, and judging by the other posts, a lot of those deletions were for racism. But snobbery is also a big force in this. As are genuinely held opinions.

Ive got no truck with either the racism or the snobbery, but I’m damned if i’m going to forego my royal gossip because ither people are vile.

Princess Diana was fond of the photo opportunity and I laughed at her more shameless ones.

Yes! There’s a definite similarity of attitude there.

But she was white and so am I so maybe I get a pass for that with some people on this thread.

She was white and an aristocrat, so of course neither the racists nor the snobs objected. Kate M attracted huge snobbery.

derxa · 18/12/2018 13:18

@derxa Since Thomas Markle was still in the wedding booklet as walking her down the aisle (as too late to reprint), it's safe to assume that he was expected in the run up to the big day. You may well be right there. But it's all a bit strange

limitedperiodonly · 18/12/2018 13:29

This might not work and you might have to click on the link to see the image. But bear with me. It's worth it. I challenge people not to laugh at this Christmas card put out by the Waleses in 1991.

There are so many things to laugh at - the random pony, the picnic basket, Princess Di holding in her stomach while dressed in skin tight jodphurs, Charles in a double breasted suit and no tie like he's just come in from work to find his mad wife recreating a pastoral fantasy in their back garden with their sons behind his back.

It looks like a Ralph Lauren advert portraying English upper class life as seen by an American. Even funnier because I'm not English upper class and I can see what's wrong with it. So what the hell the real English upper class people Charles and Diana thought they were doing, no one knows.

Harry looks happy enough but he'd have been six. I think I can detect an air of resigned glumness on William's face.

Charles and Diana announced their separation 10 months later.

I have to admit that Harry and Meghan's xmas card has nothing on this but it's still funny.

Princess Di's fantasy

limitedperiodonly · 18/12/2018 13:31

Even the pony looks like he doesn't want to be there
