Do you think divorce is too harsh or just separate for a while?

TIA

I can see your point nomdeplumme we aquired ours by accident but i do like the idea of being higher upas i feel more protected. It is crap to park though as if you can get in a space it's sometimes hard to get the doors open!!
I have also found that i've been to high to go under some height resticted car parks/tips (with top box on) so that can be a bummer too.Our problem is that we have a black labrador and a very atheletic jack russell that unless in his cage (quite large) will jump from the boot to the drivers seat before you've even shut the boot and walked round the car so we have to take him in his carge and no matter what car you have these 2 take up the whole boot.

I see what you mean re dogs etc.

DH's last car was a Merc estate, nice as it was to drive, it was a rolly old thing in the bends.

Personally i'm electing to have fis for pets once these two 'go'. I would really love mini and silly colours, convertible with leather seats.

Women should earn their own money and buy their own cars. No one likes being a kept woman living off a man's money in 2007. Why should it be a question of him not letting you buy it? Earn the money and then buy it.

I bet xenia drives a MG convertible, desperate to hang onto her youth

Top down eh Xenia?

Isn't that a bit harsh for a quite light hearted thread?

Sorry. I wasn't in a very good mood.
Please carry on.
If you want to live off men you have to do it right and make sure you pick one for whom expensive cars are not hard to buy.

The stress of being the perfect mother getting to you?

Awwww, have a hug.

I suppose I'm one of those 'living off men' women but when I go back to work I intend to pull my weight finacially. Until then he will earn the money, and I will spend it.

arf

piss orrf Xenia Boring Princess, do you change your record at all?

if I wanted to buy myself a Merc I would work full time and get one. However I wouldn't see much of my gorgeous children or family, would get depressed, stressed and lose the will to live

but I would have my shiny car, yes, so where do I sign up?

and for the record, dh could afford to buy me a great big feck off car any day of the week, he is the Arthur Daley of the north

this was actually a lighthearted (look it up) thread to pass the time whilst watching the rain today

so ner

hmm, have to say Im with xenia on this one. cannot joke about living off men.

my dear mum educated us to live off men - she thought we went to university so that we could meet the sort of men who would buy us Mercs. oh dear, I am a sad disappointment to her, I bought my own Ford Fiesta. Paid for it in cash, too.

My OH wants me to live off him and is quite miffed that I refuse to do so for various reasons . I wouldn't argue too much if he bought me a Merc or similar car though. That would be a present .

oo but why doesn't yo0ur husband get depressed and lose the will to live having to support you and the chidlren - does the penis mean they differ that much. Is it fair?

Anyway the day mumsnetters are on the whole are buying their lower earning husbands mercs for Christmas I might desist.

Xenia, my husband's job went tits up and he had to leave which meant he couldn't finish his house in order to sell it. He needed to sell it as he had no job to pay the mortgage. I paid for new carpets, paint, tilers +tiles to help him complete and sell.
Should he not have sponged off me?
What's the feminists view on supporting your partner?
