Imagine achieving your life dream of becoming PM, being left to organise a shitstorm and then a load of your staff telling you you’re shit at organising shit and you get voted out.
I don’t think anyone who was brought in to lead brexit following Cameron’s hash up would have done a decent job and yet all TM will be known for is failing to manage brexit!

OP posts:

The actions of her party are disgusting too, I’m not usually one to say stuff like this- but I doubt they would have treated her that way had she been a man.

OnlineAlienator · 12/12/2018 08:05

I loathe her, but i do agree. It was always an impossible task and she does lack charisma so all that dancing queen stuff fell so flat and will add to her embarassing legacy :/

APMom · 12/12/2018 08:05

I agree, it was a poisoned chalice she was given. Who actually wants to take over this shitstorm though.

OnlineAlienator · 12/12/2018 08:05

Puggles you are spot on!

InflagranteDelicto · 12/12/2018 08:09

Puggles, you're spot on. But she didn't stand a chance, she took on the role knowing the shit storm she'd been handed, and that's got to be quite demoralising before you start.
I have respect for anyone who can take on a job knowing it's going to be damage limitation.

Crimson72 · 12/12/2018 08:10

Totally agree OP. I do think underneath it all that she’s a decent person. I don’t know how she’s coped with the pressure to be honest - in her position I’d have had a nervous breakdown long ago. On one or two occasions she’s looked to be on the verge of tears while giving a speech as well, which hasn’t been nice to see. I wonder if this whole ordeal has really affected her personally - it can’t not have.

calpop · 12/12/2018 08:11

I am no fan of the Conservatives (or Labour, these days), but I have ro conpletely agree. Shes been setup to fail (though must have known that I guess?). Theres a whiff of sexism about it all too.

jay55 · 12/12/2018 08:12

The other MPs, all parties are a bunch of cowards. They're not doing anything constructive. All too scared of spoiling their reputations.
I'll always admire her for giving it a good go, even if I don't agree with what she's doing/done.

5fivestar · 12/12/2018 08:12

Why accept the role then? I personally would have said no thank you

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 12/12/2018 08:12

I agree as well

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 12/12/2018 08:12

I’d feel sorry for anyone in this position, I saw some footage of her taken two years ago and she has aged....or just looks extremely tired. Anyone would, make or female.

My advice to her would be to walk away now...but I dread to think who we might get in her place.

Cheekysquirrel · 12/12/2018 08:13

Bastarding David Cameron. It’s his fault and he’s just walked away.

I feel bad for TM re brexit. She had no chance. I think she’s been allowed to get this far as no one else wanted to do it and now Johnson or Javid will sweep in and act like they are big men saving the day. Although I’m not convinced at this point that the day can be saved. Stating the obvious but why was the result ever given to the British public. It’s just disastrous.

5fivestar · 12/12/2018 08:13

We used to laugh at comedians and listen to politicians - the other way around now

OhFlipMama · 12/12/2018 08:14

Usually I have compassion for most people somewhere, struggling to find it for Teresa May to be honest. Maybe I need to look harder. Postponing the brexit vote was the final nail in the coffin - it just seemed so cowardly.

StealthPolarBear · 12/12/2018 08:14

"5fivestar

Yes just like Boris and give did. They talked the big man talk and got what they wanted but when the time came to step up there was a lot of shuffling and coughing with hand in their pockets.

maddiemookins16mum · 12/12/2018 08:15

Didn’t David Cameron just do ‘what the people wanted’....namely a referendum?

redexpat · 12/12/2018 08:15

I think its called a glass cliff. Like the glass ceiling but being set up to fail.

Cheekysquirrel · 12/12/2018 08:15

the vote not the result.

gladheart · 12/12/2018 08:15

There's an article in the BBC that quotes research saying women are usually brought into leadership when shit is hitting the fan.

"Repeated academic studies have shown that firms are more likely to install female leaders at times of crisis - a phenomenon known in academic world as the "glass cliff"."

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-46445909

StealthPolarBear · 12/12/2018 08:15

If Boris does that he's a bloody hypocrite.

Crimson72 · 12/12/2018 08:16

How was it cowardly? She literally had no choice - it would 100% have not got through parliament.

I admire her for giving an impossible and unprecedented situation a bloody good go.

OnlineAlienator · 12/12/2018 08:17

Totally agree that the big men ran away when it was time to walk the walk Envy

redexpat · 12/12/2018 08:17

From wikipefia:
The glass cliff is the phenomenon of women in leadership roles, such as executives in the corporate world and female political election candidates, being likelier than men to achieve leadership roles during periods of crisis or downturn, when the chance of failure is highest.[1][2]

Not quite being set up to fail but given a harder job than men.

LostInShoebiz · 12/12/2018 08:17

I’m not a big fan of her policies or a lot of her actions while in post at the Home Office but I really admire how she’s handled what is essentially the worst job in the country right now. No one thinks she’s doing the right thing, it’s an almost impossible task anyway and every day she goes to work and her colleagues are either secretly plotting or openly saying she’s shit.

She really does have incredible strength to get up and do her best every day.

mothertruck3r · 12/12/2018 08:18

YABU. She is awful and doesn't deserve to be PM.
