Thanks Lion for the bigly quality thread.

PossiblyPFB Welcome and thanks for great article. I clicked on Guiliani's boop of a link to something saying 'Trump is a Traitor'. My anti-virus then came up with a danger warning! Love some of the replies to Trump. I did tweet to him asking who Scott Free was as I'd google him and couldnt find him Grin

Really appreciate Dan Rather's views... the voice of reason in amongst all this madness.

Thank the lord tRump is not speaking at GHWB funeral. He is incapable of gravitas and not talking about himself. How will he cope with a day that isn't focussed on him I wonder... and he is being pulled up for his criticism of GHWB's moving speech about the thousand points of light... and this was only in July. See here Twitter is not letting him get away with it.

Roussette · 04/12/2018 07:57

I'd love to know what breakfast is like in KA and George Conway's house. Can't imagine. How do you live with someone when your political views are so out of synch? I couldn't.

My DH might not feel as strongly as me, he just is not so interested, but we are sort of coming from the same place.

borntobequiet · 04/12/2018 08:10

Place marking with a remark that getting a Taxi must be so much better than just any old taxi. And why would a New Yorker say taxi rather than cab? Baffling.

PossiblyPFB · 04/12/2018 08:21

It’s unbelievably still up this morning! In Rudy’s own words, “out of control! Supervision please?”

I'll need to save some party blowers 🎉

Mueller isn't completely wrapping up until January 15 at the earliest. That is the next joint status report for Rick Gates.

Yes, Roussette, I pondered the same question a thread or so - obviously we are not made of the same stuff as the Conways, they are clearly able to compartmentalize exceedingly well!

This is bothering me a lot. Can it be stopped?

In WI, MI, OH & NC lame duck GOP legislatures are brazenly stripping power from Dems, overturning the will of voters, and passing new laws making it harder to vote.

This is an outrageous abuse of power and should be a huge national scandal. t.co/DYrN9blmPG

It's terrible, and Trumpian in the extreme. Angry

Shock at that clip of 45 signing one of the copies in the wrong place.

And as one of the comments points out, he got out his marker pen rather than using the naice pen provided. His need preference for a chubby handled, very broad nibbed pen is doing nothing to allay my suspicion he's dealing with some neurological issue.

lionheart · 04/12/2018 11:50

He looks a bit wobbly at the casket too.

OP posts:
Roussette · 04/12/2018 12:03

Merdede ahhh yes I remember you typing that bit befuddled here!

tRump at the casket... agree lion. But I'm not sure if it's because of some sort of condition or he is just incapable of properly standing still. He sways, he twitches, he rocks from side to side etc. There's some footage this morning from recent US anthem solemn occasion (probably to do with GWHB) and he is singing along whilst swaying. Everyone else is stock still. But that doesn't stop him... most odd

Ah, I found the tweet I'd been looking for on FB Grin

GOP power grabs in Wisconsin and Michigan undermine the foundation of our republic. The whole idea of elections is they have consequences. Those who lose live to fight for the people’s vote another day. Trying to change the rules on your way out the door is a national shame

Roussette · 04/12/2018 12:19

Eric tRump (the son with a face for radio) has been ripped a new one on Twitter for this gem. I know Pain showed it above but I think it's worth repeating for its ignorance and naivety, given the family he comes from.

Of all the ugliness in politics, the utter disrespect George Conway shows toward his wife, her career, place of work, and everything she has fought SO hard to achieve, might top them all. @KellyannePolls is great person and frankly his actions are horrible.

Michael Flynn court filing likely to reveal new details in Russia probe

Special counsel Robert Mueller is set to reveal the extent of Michael Flynn's cooperation and insights into the dealings of Russians with the Trump campaign and administration.

In the court filing due by midnight Tuesday, Mueller's team could also nod toward the next criminal indictments in its sights.

I think I may be going mad.

"U.S. President Donald Trump is building a new world order upheld by American leadership and democracy, his secretary of state told diplomats at an event in Brussels on Tuesday"

www.usnews.com/news/top-news/articles/2018-12-04/president-trump-is-building-a-new-liberal-order-says-pompeo

He is? really? how does he seem to be doing this thing, and why has nobody in the entire world noticed?

lionheart · 04/12/2018 14:57

...building a new world order

Ominou usage of the phrase considering the conspiracy theories that link it to totalitarian regimes and the Antichrist, no?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_World_Order_(conspiracy_theory)

Minimammoth · 04/12/2018 15:10

What?
Has Pompey been brain washed, or replaced by a droid?

Minimammoth · 04/12/2018 15:11

Sorry Pompeo , but may as well be Pompey

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/12/2018 15:33

Eek! The article you link to, AcrossThePond, says "Those political scientists are concerned that mass hysteria over New World Order conspiracy theories could eventually have devastating effects on American political life, ranging from escalating lone-wolf terrorism to the rise to power of authoritarian ultranationalist demagogues" and America seems to have both at the moment.

More eeek.

Mueller Is Laying Siege to the Trump Presidency
It won’t be a single news event that takes down the president.

www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/12/no-single-news-event-will-take-down-trump/577264/

Siege warfare is not a matter of striking precisely the correct blow at the correct moment at a particular stone in the wall. It is a campaign of degradation over a substantial period of time. While those inside the fortified city may rely only on the strength of their walls and their stored resources, the attackers can take their time. Volleys of projectiles—arrows or trebuchets—pepper the city walls and those atop them, while the strength of the defending army diminishes as soldiers slip away and food dwindles. Moreover, active conflict is an episodic, not a constant, feature of siege warfare; the enemy army can encamp outside the walled city and blockade it without firing a shot. Over time, the walls and defending forces become degraded to such a degree that the invaders are able to scale the walls and sack the city.

AcrossthePond55 · 04/12/2018 16:35

Good article Pain. And it makes sense to me that it will be 'a lot of little things' rather than one huge one. Whether or not the totality of them will be enough to take down Trump, well, I'm a bit less sanguine about that part.

I think at this point it's no longer about removing him from office. Even if impeachment happens, the Senate will never vote to remove him from office. And I'm truly convinced that he will never, ever voluntarily resign. It's just not in him. IMO, at this point it's all about legislatively 'neutering' him for the remainder of his term and making him absolutely UNre-electable.
