To be angry and feel the Scottish Gov’s Twitter header is an attack on women?

i’d like them to clarify exactly what their definition of “transphobic” is because it seems to have become a slur these days often aimed at anyone but mostly women who are critical of or question in any way the recent upsurge of identity politics. I just feel they’re doing a knee jerk, ignorant, unnecessary huge fuck you to women.

You accuse people of not caring about women's rights if they don't think the same as you.
People who accept transwomen care about womens rights too.

Hasn’t the Vancouver Rape Crises Centre been targetted by transactivists to get it closed down because it wants to keep the centre as a female based service?

Just to answer this earlier point:

Yes. To elaborate further, an MTF transactivist backed up by trans lobby groups pursued Vancouver Rape Relief through the Canadian courts system for 12 years, almost bankrupting them. This was because they turned the transactivist down for a rape counselling post. Think about why a male might want to counsel traumatised female rape victims in a female only space. The lack of empathy alone is a huge red flag. Even though the person could have got a job doing this in a number of other rape crisis centres in the city of Vancouver, they decided to sue VRR for discrimination. Eventually the highest court in the land settled the matter in favour of VRR.

TRAs are bad losers. They are still going after VRR years later, and bullied and threatened a sweet shop whose only crime was to put up a fundraising poster for a female rape crisis centre.

That's what we're dealing with.

Ereshkigal · 04/12/2018 00:23

I know what I think about people who prioritise the feelings of male people over those of female people, Verbeena. I think I've made my point. Not responding to you further on this.

VerbeenaBeeks · 04/12/2018 00:27

We're not on about male people, we're on about transwomen.
Nice skirting and dodging of the guidelines there as usual.

Biology is a thing.

Ereshkigal · 04/12/2018 00:30

Anyway, unless anyone else other than you wants to discuss things, I'm out for the night.

Ereshkigal · 04/12/2018 00:32

It's always good to have evidence that there are biology denialists though, otherwise people don't believe you when you say they exist.

penisbeakers · 04/12/2018 00:34

Ha hahaha.

That is brilliant I love it.

VerbeenaBeeks · 04/12/2018 00:42

Same could go saying that MN isn't a place full of transphobia/discrimination towards transwomen, you show there actually is the more you post darlin.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 04/12/2018 08:21

Saying that transwomen are men who identify as women isn't hateful, or bigoted, VerbeenaBeeks. It's factual.

Describing biology as transphobic illustrates how meaningless the accusation has become.

MN isn't a place full of transphobia/discrimination towards transwomen. It's a place where women are discussing and campaigning against attacks on our rights by gender ideology. If TRAs stopped invading women's boundaries we'd happily stop talking about the issue.

As it is, all our single sex facilities are under threat, men are included in all women shortlists, and women's sport faces obliteration.

These are aggressive actions. Women are trying to defend ourselves. It is not women who created this conflict.

VerbeenaBeeks · 04/12/2018 08:26

Yeah, that's not what she said though, is it and I think you know that really.

Ereshkigal · 04/12/2018 09:21

Absolutely, Prawn.

TalkingintheDark · 04/12/2018 14:40

We're not on about male people, we're on about transwomen.

Could you explain this to me, VerbeenaBeeks? I really don’t understand what you’re saying here.

Are you saying that transwomen are not of the sex that produces small, motile gametes (spermatozoa) that can fertilise females to produce offspring? Because (when it comes to human beings, certainly), that’s what I understand by male. A straightforward biological descriptor denoting which one of the two - yes, only two - sexes a human being belongs to.

So yes, I thought it was a prerequisite of being a “transwoman” that you have to be male in the first place. Otherwise you’d just be, you know, female. A woman. Ergo we’re talking about a subset of male people here. Or aren’t we?

That's how I understand it too, Talking. Male & female, man & woman, are biological descriptors denoting people's sex.

Datun · 04/12/2018 16:03

That's how everyone understands it. Unless there is another definition of the word woman. In which case let's have it.

VerbeenaBeeks · 04/12/2018 16:10

Grin Lol, and yet another thread of define womannnnnn no silly not like that. Try again.
Unbelievable, Except it's not, it's stupidly predictable.

VerbeenaBeeks · 04/12/2018 16:12

Some people accept transwomen as women too. Until you realise that, it's rollercoaster round and round until you bend people to your way of thinking.

Datun · 04/12/2018 16:35

until you bend people to your way of thinking.

Lolz.

VerbeenaBeeks · 04/12/2018 16:37

Lolz yourself

Datun · 04/12/2018 16:40

TRAs are bad losers. They are still going after VRR years later, and bullied and threatened a sweet shop whose only crime was to put up a fundraising poster for a female rape crisis centre.

And from what I recall, the one in question had already gone to several other centres, before they targeted that one.

And it took 12 years and cost the rape refuge hundreds of thousands of dollars. And it's still ongoing, or for anyone who supports VRR.

VerbeenaBeeks · 04/12/2018 16:40

You're one of the prevalent ones with t'other upthread.
Define, define, define. You're on loop.

TalkingintheDark · 04/12/2018 16:41

So Verbeena, I would still like you to clarify if possible - are you actually saying that “transwomen” aren’t biologically male? And if so, on what grounds?

VerbeenaBeeks · 04/12/2018 16:43

And before I get the predictable derailing, blame that on the ones who shout conspiracy theory, TRA's and define as you're wrong to anyone who doesn't agree with you.
Bending to your way of thinking or thread goes round again. Pretty sad you can't see it.

VerbeenaBeeks · 04/12/2018 16:45

There's literally no point. On loop, give an answer, prevalent thread ones do ha gotcha, try again or try to twist your words into something you never said at all.
