To almost always be disappointed in takeaways.

Takeaways are not something we have that often, maybe 3/4 times a year. Had one today, as I fancied a treat- KFC. What a disappointment Sad. Very little taste , looked unappetising and felt like a waste of money. I’m hungry again now too. Can’t say it’s just KFC, Chinese, fish and chips all seem to be a let down too. Sure i’ll Forget and order again at some point in the future. Anyone always anticipate a takeaway to be so much nicer than the reality?

yes! i find fast food places really annoying as well as the quality varies greatly by luck. You can go in and have lovely freshly cooked chips, or they can be 5 hour old lukewarm chips

GreenEggsHamandChips · 31/10/2018 18:46

Nope the local ones are all fab. Except the Indian that recently changed hands that was noting like it used to be

RatUnholyRolyPoly · 31/10/2018 18:46

The only thing that's worth it is a good curry, or a really dirty pizza after a few beers. But I think you're right, most of the time takeaway is just shit!

TedAndLola · 31/10/2018 18:47

Yep, with pizza. It always leaves me feeling greasy and bloated and like a fool for buying overpriced takeaway pizza.

There are great Indian and Chinese restaurants around here, though. I never feel disappointed in them!

ThatGirl82 · 31/10/2018 18:49

I don’t get KFC very often but our local Indian and Chinese takeaways are really good! We had an Indian last week and it was so good that I keep thinking about it and wanting it again! Blush. Our local Italian restaurant delivers too and although the pizzas don’t travel well, the pasta is lovely.

Justforonequestion · 31/10/2018 18:49

We have some really good takeaways locally- great fish and chips, decent Indian and proper pizza. I think it helps if you avoid the chains- KFC etc will always be a bit grim.

Chrisinthemorning · 31/10/2018 18:50

Yes, except Indian. Curry is always good

RatUnholyRolyPoly · 31/10/2018 18:51

Except a bad curry, and then it's a huge disappointment.

But it when it's great it's AMAZING.

HildaZelda · 31/10/2018 18:51

I think the problem with actual takeaway (as in literally bringing it home) is that is seems to go cold in a matter of minutes. I don't like KFC myself, but Chinese or Indian always seems to taste nicer IN the actual restaurant I find.

Ohheyyy · 31/10/2018 18:52

KFC isn't really a take away to me, it's just food you grab when in a hurry so can't expect much from it IMO.

I'm lucky and do have good takeaways near me but I definitely have a favourite Chinese, Indian, Thai etc.

redexpat · 31/10/2018 18:55

I want takeaway indian now.

I think maybe you dont have good takeaways near you. Which ones have good reviews.

Babybearsporij · 31/10/2018 18:58

YA mostly NBU. It took us a while to find lovely takeaways, but now we have, I really enjoy them. Fast food / supermarket sandwiches etc though - I won't buy it. Bland and tasteless.

fitorfat · 31/10/2018 19:04

My take away is great except for one occassion not long back other people wanted to meal share so I deviated from my usual order and got chicken chow mein but it came a mixed meat/seafood one. None of us touched it.

BUT despite the food being great they always mess up my drink order and it drives me mad. I order coke. No I dont want sprite or pepsi. It's not what I over payed 3 bloody pound for.

LittleMe03 · 31/10/2018 19:06

YABU because I love KFC 😄

Potatoandleeek · 31/10/2018 19:15

I think restaurant food in general is disappointing. I travel for work several times a month so have to eat in restaurants regularly (or deliveroo to hotel room when I’m too lazy to go out)

It’s very rare that I actually enjoy one of these meals. Once you take out the “treat” element of restaurants the food itself is usually pretty crap. Takeaway is even worse because you don’t even get the restaurant ambience, just a sad little lukewarm container.

Homecooked is just so much better. And I’m not a particularly skilled cook

HoraceWimpIsThisYourLife · 31/10/2018 19:16

We’ve got a Thai takeaway near us that is just amazing, it’s like having restaurant food at home. Pricey though.

bluechameleon · 31/10/2018 19:47

I've been trying to eat healthily so haven't had many takeaways recently. We had a Dominos at the weekend and I really didn't enjoy it much. It felt like such a waste of calories!

greendale17 · 31/10/2018 19:49

I think restaurant food in general is disappointing.

^Wow you must eat at a lot of crap restaurants then

PawneeParksDept · 31/10/2018 19:51

I haven't found a decent Indian or Chinese that delivers since I moved a year ago. My last curry was swimming in oil and the locally praised Chinese isn't a patch on my old one.

I'd kill for a decent Lemon Chicken

Chrisinthemorning · 31/10/2018 19:55

@RatUnholy I live in Bradford so have a very good Indian takeaway Grin

ilovesooty · 31/10/2018 19:58

I have great Indian, Chinese and pizza takeaways near me as well as some other more niche cuisines.

Holdingonbarely · 31/10/2018 20:00

What do you except from KFC!

CherryPavlova · 31/10/2018 20:00

We can’t have takeaways as we’ve nowhere near to buy them from. When we do get one (usually whilst on holiday in U.K.) it’s a real treat.

CherryPavlova · 31/10/2018 20:01

I can’t imagine ever choosing KFC though!

Racecardriver · 31/10/2018 20:03

The stuff on Deliveroo is always s acceptable. I use it as my takeaway filter.
